Jump Super Stars (NDS): first screen shot

Killer App.

The manga on the bottom screen needs explaining though, does it go along with the action? Is there a story mode?

Looks nice!

Looks good, tons of action on the top screen and though I haven't a clue what's going on in the bottom it looks interesting. Hopefully it'll have extremely nice animation with a camera that can zoom in and out depending on the situation. I'm hoping for large enviroments (along the lines of SBDX) and a really expanded multiplayer (with tons of wireless options of course).

I wonder if it will see distribution in the US. Dragonball might be enough to give the the game a little star power, even though it's all about Naruto in Japan.

Looks like there's a story/dialouge unfolding between the characters as you fight in the game. Kinda reminds me of those hyper-netic manga sequences in FLCL.

i was thinking the same. On the bottom screen there's also a bar on three of the four characters on-screen that seems to be displaying their health. Looks cool, but if that's all it's for, it's completely useless.

i almost wish One Piece and/or Naruto was being shown here so we could expect it to be announced here.

They show One Piece on saturday mornings here (on Fox). This looks pretty good. I wonder how many people can play simultaneously it looks like there is at least 6 characters on that screen.

Hey John, Can you translate some of the text?

Probably some form of summoning support characters. If you look at the bottom of the top screen it shows that only four players are playing with their appropriate hit percentages.

Oh man, I can't wait to see them try to explain the inclusion of Ichigo 100% and Death Note in it... not that I'm complaining. Bring on the Light and panties!

Would it be reasonable to expect this thing to offer wireless 4-player matches? I damn well hope so.

Yeah, I noticed that. I just found it strange that they displayed 5 portraits on the bottom screen. That implied to me that there's at least five people playing. You're probably right about them being summons.

1) BOBOBOBO BOBOBO

2) I am cautiously optimistic. On the one hand, it looks really REALLY neat. On the other hand, has there ever been a truly good video game based on a Jump manga? But on the other hand, Nintendo's helping with development! But on the other hand... that's four hands! Where the fuck did all these hands come from?

Totally. Awesome.

TONY-KUN!

Cool that it's not JUST One Piece, DBZ, and Naruto. It really IS Jump Super Stars. I wonder why Bleach hasn't been mentioned yet.

The manga-style sound effects are a nice touch, too. The DS is region free right? If so, IMPORT GET, guaran-damn-teed.

As far as I know, This is being developed internally, not just Nintendo 'helping with development'. I could br wrong, though.

This is great! I've always said to myself: man, if I could play a generic fighting game and read some manga at the same time, that would would be so awesome.

Ride a bike around and look at some titties.
Generic? I'll bet it turns out great.

It is (supposedly) being developed by the Smash Bros. team. So all signs point to a much more promising brawler than your typical anime cash-in game.

I just hope they aren't limiting it to current running manga.

Having older Jump classics like Rurouni Kenshin or Hikaru no Go characters in it would be fun :) Though ummm Ichigo 100% characters is kinda bizarre.

Dragon Ball Z is there, so definitely not.

I agree with paul777 on Saint Seiya. That'll make this game all the more better.

All they need now is Prince of Tennis, Yakitate Japan, and Bleach. I think only the last one has a legit shot of making it, though. (and I don't think Yakitate is from Shonen Jump...)

All I have left is cautious optimism. I just expended all of my paranoid dread upon hearing GANTZ, a manga basically built like an amazing game concept from the start, is due out in March on the PS2 as (in all likelyhood) another really crappy quick license job.

One last category, you say? Unbridled optimism? Wasted by a combination of the terrible-controls Standalone Complex and the Keroro Gunsou license being relegated to kart racing.

...At least nobody has tried buying the BLAME! license yet...

1) Yep: looks like it is indeed all Nintendo. That's... a bold move.

2) Characters are owned by Shueisha, the publisher of Shonen Jump... not Bandai. Individual creators and studios are also credited with copyright in that scan.

That's interesting though. It seems like Nintendo is really serious about being a player in the anime business.

I mean they could've just made Smash Bros. DS instead, right?
