I could see Punk signing a month or two extension for a title program. Jericho stuck around for a few weeks after his last contract ended just to spite the dirt sheets.

Didn't watch Raw last night and so glad I didn't after reading results. I'm tired of wasting my time with a product that insults my intelligence and leaves me full of regret after it is over every week.

It actually would be a sort of clever kayfabery way to end up with a single top level title for a while, as opposed to pulling a Jericho. I'd kinda like this.

BTW, with a very, very small handful of exceptions, I've been pretty much RAW free for years. Reading this thread has literally been a conscious -- and far more entertaining -- choice for my Monday night amusement for a long time now. I'm sort of happy that the product continues to suffer, because it's just getting more fun for me. :D

ROH WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH; Eddie Edwards (c) vs Davey Richards

The American Wolves collide as Davey Richards challenges his long-time tag team partner Eddie Edwards for the ROH World Heavyweight Title. This wasn't a match that Davey sought, but Eddie felt the need to prove that he could defend his belt against Richards, a man that many thought would be the next world champ after Roderick Strong. Eddie has been through a number of gruelling title defences against the likes of Chris Hero and Roderick Strong, can he withstand this fresh test or will Davey Richards become the 15th ROH World Champion? And what will either outcome mean for the future of the American Wolves?

Eddie vs Davey: American Wolves Collide - Hype Video

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE - 4-WAY ELIMINATION MATCH; Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs The Kings of Wrestling vs The Briscoe Brothers vs The All-Night Express

It doesn't get much bigger than this and Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas will surely have their work cut out for them as they attempt to defend their ROH Tag Team Titles against not one, but three of the top teams in ROH today. The Kings of Wrestling will be looking to recapture the belts they held for over a year, but the inclusion of the volatile Briscoe Brothers and up-and-comers Kenny King & Rhett Titus of the All-Night Express complicates matters. And speaking of The Bricoes & ANX, can their hatred be put on standby while they challenge for the belts? Or will this blood feud reignite in New York City?

ROH TV TITLE MATCH; Christopher Daniels (c) vs El Generico

With the sale of ROH to the Sinclair Broadcasting Group and the imminent return of ROH on TV in a month or two the ROH TV Title has been brought out of hiatus, but since ROH on HDnet ended the ROH TV Champion Christopher Daniels has become a changed man, turning on his friends and fans by joining up with the insidious Truth Martini's House of Truth faction. But he'll have a tough time keeping hold of his belt as he has to face 'The Generic Luchadore' El Generico, one of the most celebrated wrestlers on the independent circuit today. Can 'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels retain his title in NYC, or will it be a celebration for the former ROH Tag champ El Generico?

GRUDGE MATCH; Homicide vs Rhino

Homicide has had a fair amount of problems with Prince Nana's Embassy these past few months, losing to The Embassy's Crown Jewel Tomasso Ciampa on not one, but two occasions (albeit due to foul play on the part of The Embassy). However, when Homicide snapped in Atlanta over WrestleMania weekend and attempted to attack Prince Nana and Princess Mia, the crown prince of Ghana West Africa went in search of a bodyguard to put 'The Notorious 187' Homicide out of action for good. That man is 'The War Machine' Rhino, a former ECW World Champion and WWE & TNA alumni who will make his debut in Ring of Honor as The Embassy's hired bodyguard.

SPECIAL CHALLENGE #1: Jay Lethal vs 'The Prodigy' Mike Bennett

After many years Jay Lethal makes his long awaited return to the company where he first gained fame, first as Hydro, a member of disliked faction Special K, and later as Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe's student and tag team partner and a 1 time ROH Pure Wrestling Champion. His first match back is against Mike Bennett, a man whose very presence in ROH is a divisive one. Bennett has all the tools of the trade, but he's not out to prove himself to the ROH fans, he's not out to impress them, or the guys in the back. Bennett wan't victory, and with his trainer 'Brutal' Bob Evans he'll be looking to upset Jay Lethal return home.

SPECIAL CHALLENGE #2; Steve Corino w/ Jimmy Jacobs vs Michael Elgin w/ Truth Martini

Steve Corino is a man with a chequered past. A former ECW world champion, Corino has held belts the world over and made a name for himself as one of the premier western talents wrestling in Japan. However, his career in ROH isn't quite as glorious. He was embroiled in a savage and brutal feud with Homicide that ended in a disgusting no-rope barbed wire match, and more recently he convinced Kevin Steen to go on a path of rampage through ROH, alienating him from the fans and the wrestlers in the back. But now Corino is out for redemption, and with his sponsor Jimmy Jacobs at his side he's looking to return the path of honour and redeem himself in the eyes of the fans and wrestlers. However, Corino is no fool, he knows the House of Truth will have the numbers advantage in New York City, so Corino has called the one man he knows will stand up and protect his & Jimmy's back; Kevin Steen, the monster of ROH, although while ROH officials have decreed that Steen won't be allowed in the building Steen has never been one to play by the rules and it will be interesting to see how this will unravel in NYC on Sunday.

SINGLES ACTION; Colt Cabana vs Tommaso Ciampa w/ The Embassy

Colt Cabana has had his troubles with The Embassy in the past, but more recently has been feuding with Christopher Daniels and The House of Truth. But in New York City he's going to go up against against the new Crown Jewel of Prince Nana's Embassy, Tommaso Ciampa, who has been making waves this past year in ROH and by winning the ECWA Super 8 Tournament last month. Cabana will certainly have his work cut out for him in NYC as The Embassy will be at ringside to support Ciampa, but if anyone knows the dangers of playing against the numbers game, it's Colt Cabana.

The ultimate sticking point between Punk and WWE is that WWE wants copyright ownership of the "CM Punk" name. Punk has been telling them to fuck off.
That makes no sense

#1: Punk has been using that name since before he joined WWE, in several promotions. There's no reason they should be able to copyright something they didn't create.

#2: WWE is constantly fighting in the courts about being able to classify their workers as independent contractors.

Combined, these two points say the following about Punk's tenure with WWE:

Phillip Jack Brooks, who performs under the stage name of CM Punk, was contracted to provide his services to WWE.

He'd be an independent contractor operating under his own stage name. Seems impossible for WWE to lay claim to the name.

Watching WWE isn't much different than picking up a hooker.

This is what everyone here should be doing. I only streamed RAW to my PC at work last night so I could listen in during the nonsense and I still got paid while it was on.

When Punk leaves, I quit watching WWE He's the one that got me back into it. I'll still read these forums for the shiggles. I'm sure he'll turn up somwhere and I'll follow that.

That's the kicker, WWE wants Punk to sign his name away, so they can easily make more money out of it and in case he left WWE for another promotion, he wouldn't be able to call himself CM Punk.

It's not the first time something like this happens, look at The Dudley Boyz.

The MITB main event is going to be awesome. Punk vs. Cena in Punk's "last match for the company" in Chicago.

Probably the most interesting and exciting scenario the WWE has had for a main event match in a long long time.

Too bad the product is going to be completely worthless by the next day.

Wrestling legend Scott Hall was sentenced to 10 days in Seminole County Jail yesterday ... for drunkenly resisting arrest back in May 2010 -- TMZ has learned.

For those unfamiliar, Hall was booked back in early May 2010 when cops found Hall -- aka Razor Ramon -- drunkenly yelling and cursing at patrons in a Florida bar. Hall was allegedly uncooperative with police ... and was popped for resisting arrest.

According to court records in Seminole County, Florida Hall was sentenced to 10 days in jail ... but the time was reduced to 2 days for time served.

We're told Hall is planning to check in to jail on July 5th -- and a rep for the wrestler says he'll be in the medical unit because of his "bad health."

Ugh.

The last thing that interested me was a similar scenario with RVD's MitB cash in at One Night Stand.

I recently gave RoH a shot though and it is miles better than anything WWE or TNA have put out in recent memory. Thus far the stories haven't been more involved than "guy A has belt and guy B wants it" but that is just fine by me. I don't watch wrestling to hear two bad actors babble at each other for 30 minutes per night. It just sucks that the only chance I get to watch RoH is via their dvd releases so I miss a lot of stuff in the middle.

haha another promotion I don't mind, similar to CHIKARA really, in that they don't pretend to be anything else other then what they are. Good relief from mainstream wrestling.

Is Player Uno still champion?

I can't wait to hear that crowd in Chicago. I hope they do the respectable thing if Cena wins and trash the ring with garbage.

I haven't followed ROH at all. Are they on the internet in any capacity other than the PPVs? I mean whole shows. I know Bootay does a tremendous job of posting EVERYTHING but it seems like it's just single matches. Thinking about the PPV on Sunday and want to get some sembalance if I'd be interested.

Not at the moment, he lost it to Giant Tiger.

Nah, other than pirating the shows there's no where to watch full ROH shows online, which is why the upcoming TV deal is big for the company, as the episodes will be streamed online via their website. Also, there's a bunch of individual matches on places like dailymotion (not youtube though, ROH get them taken down pretty quick).

It can be tough dropping money on a promotion you know little about, but it's no joke when people say ROH are at the pinnacle of professional wrestling in the US. The iPPV's especially have a great mix of styles that demonstrate perfectly what ROH is about, they're designed to be the best shows ROH has to offer for fans of the company and those checking them out for the first time alike. So if you're a fan of technical wrestling, high-flying craziness, fast-paced tag team action, or hard-hitting epic main events, the iPPV should provide it all in spades without insulting your intelligence as a wrestling fan or wasting your time on overly long in-ring promos and backstage segments that go nowhere.

Oh man, the tears from the IWC when Cena destroy Punk are gonna be glorious. He won't really be missed considering he hasn't done anything noteworthy since 2009.

His character then was golden and they fucked up SES so bad. They could've built up Mercury so much, gotten Matt involved for fucking up his face, had a huge angle and tons of stuff happening... and they wasted it all. Matt and Mercury are gone (if Mercury isn't gone, he will be) and Punk is now leaving too.

Azuran said:
He had two high profile feuds and both ended up being forgettable.

And you don't think the booking of those "high profile" feuds had anything to do with that? The most memorable part of both of those feuds was any time Punk got on the mic, but the direction in which those one-sided feuds went took him from being the most over heel in the company to making him look like a chump, or just like any other heel in WWE's universe of ill-logic and month-to-month booking.

Azuran said:
He's not as good as you people make him out to be.

Yeah, lol, that must be it.

I concur, Punk doesn't need a stable, especially if it's as poorly handled as SES and Nexus. With the way the heat drained out of the original Nexus angle it's glaringly obvious that WWE doesn't have a clue how to properly book a stable.

In other news, another angry/incoherent/redkneck Briscoe Brothers promo ahead of the iPPV on Sunday;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S9oWIpl7So

There is no reason for Punk to be over the way he is in the WWE. He's been booked to look like a fool and a loser for like 90% of his WWE career, yet he's still overcome it all.

He's had title runs booked like shit (remember his first run that had him ending every Raw outside the ring out of view?), stables full of jobbers, a streak that almost lasted a year of jobbing on live TV, and yet he can still come out and not get WHAT'd to death because people still listen to what he has to say.

the Punk Cena feud they where starting earlier in the year was really interesting and kind of different but then they had to quickly get cena back in the title hunt for mania so they forgot about the whole thing one week and Punk was all of a sudden fighting ortan.

I mean
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YmhGbbh4LE

AND THIS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCJ7EFHaFJc

Calling Cena out for lieing and ruining peoples careers was genius.

So much better then Cena Vs monster heel or Cena Vs Crazy black person or Cena vs crazy foreigner we have had since 2005.

Hope they can get a few more weeks of that.

If only he can be as amazing as Randy Orton, the one who elevates stars and has 4-star matches.

The writers must have some indication that Punk will be back eventually. Has any other wrestler gone over a top baby face twice, and a rising star, on their way out?

The way Punk has been booked lately tells me WWE expects him to come back. They usually bury the FUCK out of someone when they have even a small feeling that he's going to sign with another company if he left. I still expect him to lose next month, but it seems like WWE feels he'll be back.

Although they had that same feeling with Meth Hardy...

the capital fuck in your post makes me agree with you more.

Monday’s “Power to the People” edition of Raw gave the WWE Universe the ability to choose what they wanted to see on their television screens. Unfortunately, technical difficulties created by an influx of heavy voting traffic resulted in not every one of the more-than 697,000 recorded votes to be properly counted.

As a part of this interactive event, WWE fans were given the option to text A, B or C to 46993 (GOWWE) in order to decide what they wanted to happen during Raw. Things went perfectly at first when text votes selected Kelly Kelly (option B) to take on Brie Bella for the Divas Championship. However, our vote tabulating provider’s system became overwhelmed, resulting in these votes to spill into later polls. This technical mishap soon led to Mason Ryan (also option B) being voted into a match against Evan Bourne — even though, as it was later discovered, Sin Cara had received 90 percent of the total votes in WWE.com's Live Chat poll, and should have been Bourne's opponent.

Stand by for more details to be reported by WWE.com throughout the day.

Maybe we'll see Sin Cara vs. Bourne next week to make it up.
