Bryan Alvarez was texted during the show by a WWE employee stating that the reason Zack Ryder was not on the show is because "Vince hates the internet". Backstage, many, many people were upset that the person getting the most chants throughout the night was not brought out for a promo or even a quick appearance in his hometown who clearly wanted him there. Dave Meltzer got some more information today on the thought process.

Evidently, it was indeed a rib/joke being played on Zack. Zack had spent his prior show talking up how he was in his hometown, how excited he was, how this could be his chance to finally shine and move up on the card. Zack was told a few days ago he would have a promo and a match on RAW and would turn face on RAW, even being able to acknowledge his youtube show and Internet Champion gimmick. This is why Zack was so excited the past few days.

The rib went so far as there was even a fake script and timeline alloted for Zack to come out and wrestle, besides Superstars, with his RAW promo and on air face turn. When the time came close for this to happen, Zack was informed plans changed and he would not be on air. This was literally during the broadcast. The entire rib was Vince's idea and was because Vince is not a fan of the "bashing" Zack does about WWE and sees it as "giving in" to someone who is visibly bashing the company with "dropping the ball" clips, etc.

Alvarez comments that the real joke is on the fans, as the reaction to him not being on air is not pretty and as the rib is being revealed, even less people are happy. Multiple wrestlers have stated their public displeasure with the rib and John Cena was said to directly confront Vince over the situation and what he felt was a poor joke.

Guys, the fans don't matter. Vince decides what we should love. It's not like their displeasure ever leads to poor ratings.

And if you can't deal with that, go to the papers if you have to.

Jesus christ if that is true. Vince is evil. But if John Cena really did confront Vince for being a dick, I respect that man, even if his character is boring as fuck.

well cena is a stand up guy but yeah his character is absolute horseshit which is why most of us hate on him

Vince thinks it's funny to alienate his fans, employees and writers.
What a professional he is!
Isn't he just so hysterical?

Guess who's more immature than both Hogan and Warrior put together.

Nothing will change as long as that half-insane dinosaur still holds the reins, what a shitty thing to do to Zach that shows how little respect Vince has for his workers and the fans that line his pockets. What a fucking chump.

It was funny how Austin and Rock worked more in the ring on Tough Enough than on any appearance on Raw.

And they can still go.

Yeah, no matter what the fans want, if the WWE doesn't want it, then the fans don't get it....and yet the fans will keep tuning in!

Actually I take it back, it should read:no matter what the fans want, if Vince McMahon doesn't want it, then the fans don't get it....and yet the fans will keep tuning in!

That would explain Dolph Ziggler's tweet about a rib on Ryder then.
You are right.

Pure dogshit move by Vince. But what else is new, his product is awful, only to be outdone by TNA. If TNA were remotely competent, we wouldn't have to complain about WWE so much.

Ridiculous. I like Ryder. Havent seen much of the guy, but when someone is trying as hard as he is, obviously has a passion for what he's doing, and is likeable to boot, I can't help but root for the guy. Being in Long Island, with the crowd that hot for Ryder, and to pull THAT after you tell him you have all those things planned for him.... the definitition of "dick move".

Dude is completely turned into Al Davis. Shane, Stephanie, HHH.... SOMEBODY needs to get him out of power. Thats 100% bad business, 100% ego stroking.

That is so messed up....on the other hand though I'm really looking forward to his next Z! True Long Island Story to see what he says about it

I will relent and say Ryder makes too many inside jabs on those YouTube shows about not being pushed. I could see how Vince could translate that as whining for a push.

God, they've really gone out of their way to be jackasses lately. First Henry, and now Ryder. All it does is remind you that the entire product is really produced for an audience of one.

Everyone that is a wrestling fan should listen to this podcast so they can appreciate how DISGUSTED anyone involved in this sham of an industry is right now and then make a conscious decision to not watch WWE, not watch TNA and to purchase and support the Ring of Honor Internet pay-per-view later this month.

Because they're the only North American promotion active today that genuinely respects their audience, their product and their talent.

To do otherwise means that we're perfectly content to waste our lives getting fucked up the ass by Vince and by the Dixie/Hogan/Bischoff triumvirate. And no, Triple H will not "make everything better" when Vince is gone because he clearly isn't making much of a difference now with all the power he has.

We should either support Ring of Honor or simply stop watching wrestling period. Plenty of other hobbies out there.

This made me think that Cena could take the whole company hostage if he wanted to. Not over Ryder, but if Cena would ever get in any kind of dispute with WWE he'd have them by the balls. They've spent so much investing in him and only him, they would be completely fucked until they *gasp* built new stars.

this feud/match really needs to happen at wrestlemania 28

punk and stone cold have been teasing us with it ever since all stars came out

WM28 is suppose to be attitude era vs pg era

Sheamus vs Taker
HHH vs Del Rio
Miz vs Jericho

ect.

The WWE Universe revolves around Vince. If I was a up-and-coming wrestler starting out in FCW and read that news about Ryder, I'd just quit and find a better job. Not worth it.

Aren't they getting a TV deal soon? Will it be aired in the west coast?

That is just not true. CHIKARA, PWG, DGUSA, EVOLVE, and others do respect their audience and the sport of wrestling.

Orton's injury and the Smackdown spoilers could cause an interesting problem this Sunday.

In the event that Orton can't go, they would theoretically be without Sheamus (since he gets punted this Friday) or Mark Henry (since he gets taken out on a stretcher this Friday due to the Big Show) as well. At that point, maybe they'll do something along the lines of Christian vs. Kane if all other options are out OR they could just not show Orton punting Sheamus on TV and instead do Christian vs. Sheamus this Sunday for the title.

CHIKARA is American?
<looks them up on Wikipedia>
Holy hell, they are!
And in the heartbed of ECW at that.
With a name like that I just assumed they were Japanese.

I always find these kinds of "ribs" rather hard to believe. There's interest in one of the wrestlers and they don't want to capitalize on that?

And if true, why would anyone want to work for a company that runs itself like this?

Have you forgotten about JR's brand new suit being destroyed with BBQ sauce? or The Finks new car being wrestled on? Or the Mark Henry thing where several entrance themes played but nobody came out for the dark match?

Annnnd Orton gets the belt back as soon as he returns. He's the huge draw!

Dolph Ziggler tweeted

You didnt rib 'the kid' tonight, you ribbed the fans, Long Island & the boys in the back! AND kicked him in the nuts! #RyderOrRiot

Its funny too WWE has pushed for its "superstars" to be more internet savy etc but I think its probably done the opposite of what corporate would want.

Alot of the Stars dont hesitate to speak their mind online.

You can manage $15 every couple of months to support ROH.

C'mon dawg.

The TV deal starts in September, I don't think it'll be airing on the west coast, but I'm not sure which areas Sinclair Broadcasting covers. However, they have announced that the show will be watchable worldwide via the ROH website. They're holding a press conference on the 24th to announce the details.

Those guys haven't said anything good, positive, whatever about TNA/WWE for years. They are bitter smarks, nothing more nothing less.

Not that they are essentially wrong about whatever they said about whatever show they are talking about, it just that their show basically exists to bitch about the top guyss. So yeah whatever...

Imagine this happened in any other industry. The people running WWE are lucky everyone thinks wrestling is dumb so they can just expect this sort of thing.

There's no doubt this is a rib. What i don't understand is that if the WWE has a problem with Zack talking too much on his show, they can easily tell him to stop. He hasn't stopped because they haven't said anything to him.
