There's no satisfactory outcome. I'd prefer jail for a bunch of reasons, but mostly so they don't give him his ridiculous martyrdom, for killing women and children.
If you think your god is so weak that he needs illiterate murderers and idiot teenagers to defend him, then maybe your god is not great, or maybe you're blaspheming yourself.
