Kameo mini-blowout (new pics)

looking pretty damn good.

Agreed, but this is next-gen guys. Every platform will have these capabilities, (minus the art assets) to produce these or even superior visuals. I'm not trying to downplay the 360 & its hw by any means, (or Rare) but this is merely a taste of what is to come. Can you imagine MGS4, Metroid Prime:3, LOZ, Halo 3, etc.?

Looks good, but I'm not impressed, perhaps my expectations for *next-gen* are too lofty. For example character models don't look that much different between this generation and the next.

It's clear that the X360 is much more powerful, I mean it handles so many orcs on screen in that one scene. It seems a gazillion NPCs on screen seems to be the new cel-shading. It's already old though.

I think PS3 and Revolution will be much more impressive than the small jump that is the X360 (as of yet).

Something tells me geometry instancing is going to become the most "obvious" and overused trick next-gen to try and make things look impressive.

someone should start a thread about likely next-gen lensflares.

Instancing is one
DOF another

I get mystified by this type of logic. "Thousands of orcs is old hat! PS3 will do better!"

Better how? MORE orcs? How many more? 5%? 10%? 25%?

Better looking orcs then? But you can do that with XB360 by reducing the orc count and spending more polys per orcs.

"Then PS3 will have thousand of better looking orcs!"

Then it just boils down to a number game again. You juggle the quality vs quantity of orcs ratio and at the end of the day, it just boils down to mere "more orcs" for PS3. You know, the kind of thing that's already old hat for you.

After taking in all the pre next gen fervor at GAF for the last year, I think you guys are not using logic but some kind of mystic belief in Sony engineering magic (which if you look closely is nothing but an urban legend). Especially idiotic when you think about the likelyhood that PS3 will launch only 6 months after X360 (thus making the DC v PS2/X360 v PS3 comparo moot due to 18 months difference between DC and PS2), and they will likely launch at same price point.

There's no voodoo magic employed by Sony. They have to work under the same constraints as MS now that MS also controls costs by fabbing their own chips. With only 6 months launch difference, and the same price point, the difference between the two won't be high as you guys seem to think.

Very cute. This game has definitely jumped to the forefront of the Xbox360 launch titles for me.

Questions about Kameo. Is she an elf, a fairy or what? Does she still morph into other creatures or have they taken that aspect out of the game? I would definitely prefer the latter. Kameo (the character) looks really good in this, the most recent build of the game. Good work Rare. After the decision to scrap the more cartoony look for PDZ I was starting to lose my faith in you.
