Kameo presentation video - xboxyde

so, is this the only 360 game they showed at the conference, other then old trailers?

i really hope Blim and everyone else can get more footage from behind closed doors or whatever.

by the way, kameo is looking pretty fucking awesome. cant wait to see those awesome boss battles on the 360

Just finished uploading the 640x480 version. My camcorder has been acting a bit crazy so it's not as good as expected :/
Edit: I'm encoding the dashboard demo (version cool stuff) right now.

The video doesn't show in my DIVX player (only sound) and WMP gives me an error. Curses, this is the first time I've gotten such an error. Any ideas?

That's the stuff i heard on the mp3 at major nelson that I wanted to see most.

It does look good generally, though in the orc battlefield bit, I wish the orcs had shadows. Now I know that's being picky with so many characters on the screen...but that's the point. If they halved the number of orcs, which would still leave shitloads, they could add details like that. Is there really that much difference to the gameplay between a field of 1000 orcs and a field of 2000 orcs? I doubt it, but shadows would make it look so much better.

Of course, if they can get shadows AND that many orcs going in the time they have left to develop the game, it's all to the good.

i get what your saying, but what impressed me about that scene, is how much the environment has improved since the e3 build. at e3, it was like a barren mountain with hardly any background detail at all. now, there are trees, a nice backdrop, all sorts of bushes/grass/assorted vegatation. pretty impresive improvement

Install the xvid codec, or even better use ffdshow for all your MPEG4 based codecs :)

And who says that the final version doesn't have shadows?

Remember it's the developer who chooses what we get to see, not the other way around.

Looks excellent as usual, similar areas to what was seen earlier but obviously with some different bits and side areas seen since it was being played by someone else.

Thanks Blim. The game still looks like crap. Yes, it's better than this gen. But I don't see a reason to be satisfied with that. Rare is fucking up. PEACE.

Read my comments on GoW, PGR3 and Project Force. I can like 360 games and hate PS3 ones all the same. I've ragged on Kameo from Day1. Hell, Day1 gave us the trifecta of PD0, Kameo and DOA4. All of which are underwhelming and deserving of ridicule. The bar has been set higher ON BOTH SYSTEMS. Not sure why my comment is construed as being Sony-related. PEACE.

Not impressive to me at all anymore.

The poor, simplistic animations and lack of shadowing on all those enemies toward the end look really stupid.

And what's with the load going into that throne room? I fucking hate that when a game stops to load one little area. Reminds me of Fable.

Looks nice. I'd say the biggest improvement since E3 has been the framerate. It seems very solid 30 fps.

That said, the title isn't really impressive looking. Maybe it's just me, but I find the lighting lacking. Sure there are some areas where it looks very nice, but they seem local. It also needs a hell of a lot more animations if it plans to recreate massive battle scenes. They look quite bad with the very few animations.

The graphics were alright, I'm more concerned by the gameplay. Looked pretty slow and boring. The music bit at the end bothered me too. I don't like the way it appeared custom soundtracks lack proper integration with the game.

if the xbox 1 build at e3 '04 was anything to go by, the combat was great fun. everything shown from the 360 game looks like a direct upgrade of that xbox game too

I don't know what all the complaining about the graphics are. Certainly looks like a generational leap over Zelda.

I liked the ipod bit - pausing and instantly bringing up the dashboard and changing the music. Although I'm sure there must be a tiny overhead, so not all games will do that, I suppose MS published ones will. To me, thats even better than a HDD built in, because I wouldn't have wanted to rerip my CDs. Very nice feature.

The graphics were a little meh though - I think it shows its roots. Yes there was nice lighting, nice effects etc. But the geometry of the environments was relatively simple - the towers collapsing in big chunks, the entrance to the tunnel with the armadillo made up of about 5 polys.

I'm sure a lot of that is the developer and the source material, but it was a little disappointing. Still, I won't be buying it so what do I care?

It's like people forget what current gen graphics are. This shames any platformer out there by a mile. Thanks for the vid, blim.

Must be great to be a videogame music composer when people take your work on stage only to replace it with something "more inspirational".

I like how the wireless controller fails with the d00d like ten feet from the console.

Especially when that something is a shitty remix of "Jump." :lol

Anybody else catch this about 2:28 into the video?

Looks like his wireless controller goes out on him and he's only standing like 5 feet away.

Yup, a definate luanch game purchase for me. Love the ipod bit, made me smile when he done that.

Im also happy with the change in enviroment near the end, hope they continue to add and polish because the game doesnt look like it should with only 2 months till launch

I have mixed feelings over the mandatory custom soundtracks (I think its bad for games that rely on music as part of the experience) but that isn't what I meant by my complaint.

In xbox1 custom soundtracks were handled by the games so they were integrated in interesting ways. GTA, for example, offered your custom playlists as radio stations. Other games let you mix and match custom and ingame tracks. This looks like just a generic complete replacement of the games soundtrack with your own playlist.

You can still listen to the OST you know right?

PLEASE!

I think its a god send after playing through Splinter Cell Chaos Theory last night. What an absolute disaster of a score, it depressed me. Id rather put on some green day or Donnell Jones when a games soundtrack is poor/depressing.

I support Ms decision of including this option.

I saw this video earlier, but I could've sworn the controller was hardwire. Hey, wasn't there supposed to be new footage of Condemned and Saint's Row shown? I know I read that.
