Why are Kanye threads on OT always filled with people that haven't listened to rap past 1996 yet still wanna give opinions on albums made past then

Thats not it at all. Kanye threads turn into Kanye top 5 list and you know what. A majority of people do not like anything after Graduation(myself included).

That doesnt mean I dont listen to anything passed 96. It means as far as Kanye is concerned for me he stopped existing after Graduation.

Do I think Kanye is owed money by Tidal? No. Not at all. Hes a big boy and he signed the contract.

Sorry, but all this new rap music is awful. Maybe it's just me but all these "mumble rappers" (if you can call them rappers) are awful and have vapid, sexist lyrics. They have no class or talent compared to deep artists like Eminem. Thank god Run the Jewels and Logic are bringing real rap back.

Yo, you heard this new Hopsin mixtape? This is some real shit, b.

Gotta respect Jay-Z as a businessman. No matter what problems come his way, he finds a way to make publicity and money with them. Kanye was the same until recently his problems just got in the way of him making money and by extension losing Jay-Z money. Releasing an unfinished album as a huge Tidal exclusive , canceling shows, stopping shows to go on a tirade to a rap audience about how Trump is cool, that's not controversy you can turn into cash.

Jay is a ruthless business man; but Kanye proved himself a flake. Cancelling a tour, likely costing loads of his fans a shit ton of money (since huge portions of tickets are bought from scalping sites that won't refund you.) Not sure why either would get the benefit of the doubt. Who knows who is to blame?

The fuck....dude was having a nervous breakdown in front of all his fans. As someone who who purchased tickets to his second leg and was about a month away from seeing him again before he cancelled, I was completely okay with the route he took. He was saying a lot of abrasive shit that was getting him into more trouble way more than his typical rants. I'm glad he took time off for himself.

Anyway, on topic, this kinda sucks. Coming off of MBDTF, WTT wasn't that impressive but looking back on it, it's grown a lot in my eyes since, just insanely expensive sounding beats with two guys actually trying to rap. I'll always appreciate these guys as a duo if only for tracks like Murder to Excellence or NIP.

THAT BEING SAID, fuck Jay if this stuff is true. He really has always come across as a calculating businessman when it comes to friends and family and if Kanye uses this to actually reach his potential again (i.e. actually having bars, not falling into the streaming wars bs, being happier in general) I'll be glad.

Also, some of y'all sounding dusty as fuck saying shit like Yeezus sucks. I can understand not liking TLOP, since the production was way better than Kanye's actual lyrics but not liking Yeezus to me just says you have might have a narrow view of what rap should be.

Why do people try to police opinion about him and then dismiss anyone with a negative opinion of the guy as elitist or in the past.

Kanye is also a Kardashian so he garners more kooky lous and ridicule than a Kendrick for example. He may be a great musician but he's also a self inflicted tabloid story.

Yeah it's one of the worst defenses I've seen and a major reason I don't really participate in rap threads.

Some people just don't like them. Nothing to do with age. I actually love a lot of rap from the 10s. Some of them are among my favorite albums ever. But if I don't like Yeezus/TLOP or mumble rap I'm dusty. Okay.

To be fair, I am dusty. I'm 50, was listening to hip hop before most guys on here were born. My son is 14 and keeps me fairly current in terms of new music but even given that, it's still a legitimate opinion. Just because you're older doesn't mean your ability to find something sonically pleasing and interesting goes away.

The issue between Kanye and Tidal started before 4:44 released, so no.

That doesn't mean Kanye didn't hear the track.

Kanye is the Justin Bieber of the rap game. Got nothing to do with other people.

Most Kanye fans are white dudes who weren't even born in 1996. They don't know dusty.

Doesn't mean he didn't flake; and his breakdown seemed related to being a Trump supporter and having a lot of backlash from that. Not gonna cry a river for the dude. Either way him being willing to cost his fans money, likely anyone he was partnering with on the tour, etc. is evidence of him flaking out on business deals.

So again, why are people assuming Kanye might not have been in breach of contract?

That's fine if you were personally OK with it; not sure where "the fuck" comes from though.

The fuck what?

"I told y’all I didn’t vote, right?” Kanye said, standing on the floating stage he uses on his Saint Pablo tour. “But if I would’ve voted, I would’ve voted for Trump.”

etc.,etc.,etc.

It's more like.. Kanye West "I am 100% a Trump Supporter"... Kanye Fan "na na na na *fingers in ears* na na na na"

I felt that Elon was attempting to be the voice of reason in that shit show of an administration.

Kanye was just being himself and intentionally making himself into a walking tabloid peice.

It's late, I've had a drink or two and and I can't tell if this is parody or not.

It's no real defense of his action, but he supported the Oompa Loompa not because of any of his policies but because he's an outsider just like West perceived himself to be. Kanye always positioned himself as the outcast, as the outsider trying his damndest to break the establishment's mold of what could be a rapper or a fashion designer.

It doesn't really matter though, because at the end of the day, he supported a man with despicable policies out of some misguided sense of kinship. Kanye's never going to live down that photograph with him or that photo of the signed Time cover, and that's his stupid cross to bear.

I know this is a sarcastic post but I kinda agree lmao (except Logic, he's a little too corny for me)

Also you forgot to mention Lil Dicky

What's with this costing his fans money/breach of contract thing? Whenever you buy tickets through a third party you should know what your getting yourself into, that's on the consumer to find out if they are screwed in the event of a cancellation. That's barring the fact that places like Stubhub actually offer refunds like Ticketmaster in the first place...

As far as I know no partners he had on the tour have publicly tried to take action against him for pulling out of the tour.

So, you seem to have rather he had kept going through on the second leg, which he was only just starting at the time, despite his mental health taking a hit, just to protect the pockets of fans and/or business partners who don't seem to be too bothered in the first place. The breach of contract doesn't seem to stem from him cancelling the tour but failure to deliver music videos.

So...the fuck?

Why does it take a single Kanye mention for an entire thread to be derailed into ranking his albums? And this is a thread about him too I should've known better smh.

Had a pre-July 4th BBQ today and Kanye came up. Within 10 seconds people were ranking his albums. It's not just GAF.

Is this like the rich, old and made it and now boring rapper version of beef? I really hope one of them becomes the first to rap about breach of contract and court proceedings.
Get paid Jay Z!

What? How could anyone read the ridiculous amount of disagreement about kanye rankings and actually believe that there is any sort of consensus, and how convenient that its your view as well. Bias much

Reading somewhere else did, though? I mean you might as well say you asked your friends and they agreed with you, that doesnt back up an argument. Anecdotal evidence to the max that actually contradicts measures like MBDTFs excellent reception from fans and critics too

Cosby Innocent supposedly came from somebody telling Ye Cosby was exonerated and he just posted that without checking. But, grapevine and all that.

I own your child was just Ye being a petty douche. But, that rant gave us the most inspirational thing Ye would ever say.

That is the most insane Ye stan defense of the Cosby tweet I've ever heard. The amount of defense this guy gets for being ignorant or "Ye being Ye" is at the level of Trump.
