this song is fucking terrible

so in that single with the dude speaking gibberish and it ends with kanye or whoever with that "do suicide on the blahblah"

serious fucking trash

defend it kanye gaf i dare you

That would be Mercy...

I love how people talk shit on something they didn't even bother to figure out what it was.

as far as I can tell from the response from my carefully crafted criticism, the first and only line of defense is "2 deep 4 u"

guess kanye is the kojima of rap

That intro is outrageous, since when do protestors beat up the police in their riot gear?

Its almost always the other way around.

I do love Watch the Throne however.

Really dude? You didn't even bother to listen to it, you literally said "lol autotune must be for hipsters". Fine if you don't like it, but stop asking people to make you like something you are already determined to hate.

So is the fact that that Kanye and Jay remain "anonymous" in the video intentional? I'm not really sure the video and the song fit that well though.

My fave song from WTT but I think to be honest they've all been a bit disappointing compared with MBDTF.

one of my favorites from watch the throne.. i wonder, though, what's the infatuation with the army and military and war and such subjects in these pop music videos? everyone is doing it, including rihanna, katy perry, beyonce....

Current events.

I have to admit that katy perry tie in was super weird.

half-assed attempt to be relevant

They don't fit at all. Which is the problem. The second I saw it I shook my head.

Riots and protests represent one of the larger world-wide happenings right now. Whether Iran, Syria, Egypt, Lybia, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Spain, the United States..protests and riots have been a constant in news cycles for the last 1.5 years or so. It's only reasonable that those images and likenesses find their way to sober music and videos.

happy to help. I clicked on the middle part of Jay's verse and said, "what? woooooooow." several times.

Is Pious Pious cause god loves pious socrates asks whos bias do yall seek...
My mind is still blown away.

Reminds me of the good ol' 90s Wu-Tang days when you needed a dictionary and encyclopedia to decipher the real meaning of the lyrics.

I was THERE during the filming of this! Prague, downtown, next to my apt.

Thought it was an actual protest demonstration, then some Americans told me it was filming for some Jay Z, Kanye West music video.

Lots of smoke.

What would you guys say if I told you I don't care for Watch the Throne, but I honestly enjoy Waka Flocka, Soulja Boy, and Gucci Mane?

The lyrics are fuck god we are the holy trinity and such. (I'm as Atheist as the next guy and I'm just trying to see what they're going for with their shit.)

pretty sure it's an illuminati plot to take over the radio

see: nicki minaj and that terrible song starship

they're all trying to get us ready for dec 2012

We'd say you have your own taste in what you're looking for in hip-hop and music in general. Different than some of us, in that we can enjoy *all of it* within its own context, time and place.

I wouldn't want Wacka playing in the background when I'm reading. I wouldn't want to hear Church In The Wild at the club. Time and place for everything.

It's okay. Video is pretty cool-looking, song just sounds like it's trying really hard to sound deep but they aren't really there. Nas and Damian Marley have the best album as a duo doing meaningful lyrics IMO.

click on the yellow lyrics to get the meanings. If you don't think what's being alluded to, discussed and suggested isn't deep, it's because you didn't know what they were really saying in the first place.

Jay-Z is a satanist. Blasphemous bastard.

if you were to do just a little research on that, you would find A LOT of music artists now share that "belief". many have worn satanic shirts, and shirts featuring aleister crowley (the godfather of the occult) and his sayings. jay-z in particular has his whole fashion line (rocawear) with symbols alluding to crowley's beliefs.

i'm reading over this and it's about as clever as those dudes in college who like to do poetry jam

in fact, this is literally a poetry jam over a shitty beat

yes yes cult of the me/it's not actually satanism but using lucifer/satan as a symbol of freedom blah blah

did kanye read the summaries of this shit on the rotten.com library articles too or what

maybe i should become a famous hipster rapper too and rap about gnosticism and the snake who actually gave us freedom from god's ignorance

I really like this video and WTT on the whole, to be honest; other than Kanye's mumble-singing on Liftoff and Swizzy's annoying shit on Welcome to the Jungle I thought it was pretty awesome.

Romain Gavras does good work.
