Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

For those who never played much KI, or just don't remember much about it, here is a nice guide explaining everything about KI2.

Part 1
Part 2

I highly suggest watching it, it's super interesting to see just how weird KI actually was compared to most other fighting games at the time.

They need to push this game so they will make it work at tournaments, be it cabinets or some other solutions.

Smaller events don't have the money for cabinets.

If Xbones aren't logistically feasable to use at smaller events then it's not going to have much of a presence on the tournament scene. That's just how it is.

The dev said they are working with their partners at MS to make sure tournaments are not a problem. He didn't avoid the question, he answered a direct question with a direct answer. Maybe if there was some reason to doubt him, like a previous statement that ended up to be wrong, or if the game wasn't published by MS, you might have a reason to be pessimistic.

Killer instinct was the first game I ever owned, mom got it with snes as a bundle so I'm excited. Not feeling the art though, and that trailer reminds me of bonestorm.

I don't doubt that they will be able to support larger events, but I don't think MS is gonna let the hundreds of people who run smaller events have non-DRM Xbones or whatever, and if those smaller events aren't supported, then the interest at the bigger events is gonna be nil.

It's possible they have something in mind I haven't considered, but I have a mind of my own and don't take somebody saying something as an undeniable truth. They're gonna have to give me something other than "Well we're working on it so it'll be OK guys promise."

As someone who loved the original (not really a huge fan of KI2) and logged countless hours on my SNES copy, KI was one of the few things I thought the Xbone might revive as an exclusive that might make me consider a platform that I thought had nothing going for it, in terms of what I'm interested in at least.

From some of the footage I've seen, I'm not impressed and will not be spending $500 to play this.

Hopefully it turns out decent and those of you who are on board end up happy with it though. :)

Reading about all this concern on tournaments wouldn't it be safe to assume that the people in these tournaments would have an X1 and they're copy of the game which if you sign in on your profile you can take it anywhere with you without the actual disc? So the tourney provider needs one copy to put all the "bits" on the systems then the players sign in on there account and have no trouble playing?

I want this game but I don't want MS's drm.
My thoughts exactly. It's a little bitter sweet for me. I've been wanting another one of these games for quite some time and I'm very excited for this. However, I'm so not excited for the XB1. Kind of sucks. Ah well.

So is anyone actually excited about this title and the F2P aspect?

Yes. Now before everyone throws shit, let me explain why.

If they have one character free and available to everybody, in both single player and (online) multiplayer, that opens up the game to everyone with a Xbox One and Gold. That's pretty huge to me, because it immediately opens up the game to anybody on the platform. They get a free mode to practice in, and you get to play against anyone online.

As long as there's no time limit, and the other characters aren't overpriced, I think this could be a great decision.

Looks like crap.

I'm a huge KI fan and that looks like shit. It looks like a SFIV knockoff in terms of art direction, I don't like the sound effects, and Jago's ultra is the same as KI2. Maybe it's early, but no impressed so far at all.

EDIT: I'll watch that long video posted above and see if I change my mind at all.
Don't watch anything that's not running at 60fps.

This looks great and I'll definitely be picking this up but the idea of having to constantly be fighting online Jago's because he is the free character isn't great.

I'm watching the Twitch.TV stream. My gawd, those particles on Jago's fireball! My jaw dropped when I saw the particles from a fireball smashing into another fireball.

I am so hyped for this game.

Maximillians video calms my fears. Fuck I can't wait to get my hands on it. Xbox One day One edition already pre-ordered, can't freaking wait@?#!#1

I am interested to see what the developers do about the whole "Multiple machines at Evo" thing. Any chance of MS making licenses specific to the fighting or competitive gaming community?

Game looks so good.
I was expecting just a cheap cash in for years and years if it ever did come back.
I like how it seems the pro community is embracing this right out the gate. Even though they are relatively unknown and unproven - the developers are really doing the game some justice.
