Some impressions from Greedy @ DH Forums:

Just got back from evo! It was a blast!

Got to talk with Filthy about the game, and this forum. The game looks great and feels like KI!

Filthy put my kids up on the main stage to play the game! Then have them mad catz hats after they were done, all the devs are answering questions, the line to get to play the game is huge.

All the DH people are crazy nice, and the game is a blast to play. Max went on a winning streak and should be playing on the main stage again tonight. Ken Lobb was also there mingling and taking pictures.

It was a good day. Glacious is a freaking beast!!!!!!

Sorry guys

I am at work, can only write when on break. Yes I asked about the no mercy moves. After my kids finished playing, I waited till they were between all the devs and said now daddy just needs to teach you the no mercy moves!! They all smiled and said one step at a time.

I then took a picture with Ken Lobb and asked about the no mercy moves. He responded all in good time! So I am expecting something this Sunday!!! Whoooooooooooooah!

Tiger

I didn’t get a chance to ask Filthy. Tell you the truth I forgot, however he was all about telling me that he is hard at work getting this forum in good shape. He is going to be more in touch with all of in the community.

He loves all the opinions and says that are direct feedback is playing a HUGE role in the games changes. What a great team, Filthy Rich is perfect for the job he is in. He is also a kick ass player just rolling on everyone. He was getting in dangerous with Sabrewolf!!!!!

Maxaimillion
Is a freaking brain crusher, super nice guy took time and said hi to me and the kids when he came in, then proceeded to kick everyone’s arse on the big stage. His Glacious is dangerous as can be. He is definitely on a whole level above everyone else. Max is PRO plain and simple.

Well, at least we know Max is OK. Hope they don't have to call the cops to yank him from the stand.

I'm not sure if I like countering a combo breaker tbh

I took the right guess and timed it right at least let me have it :/

I'm on the fence over this too. Haven't quite decided whether I'm for it or against it as of yet. It looks cool and I like the concept of it but... Idk.

From the video's IGN has put up and tweets from the debs, there are a few new mechanics in the EVO build. Thought I would detail them here in one place.

Counter Breakers - The attacker can 'combo break' a Combo Break. I believe it's like teching a throw. Part anticipation and part reaction. It costs no meter to use and there is no limits on how many times a match you can use it. The benefits of a Counter Breaker is that it resets the knockdown value, allowing the attacker to perform a longer combo. However, if the attacker uses a Counter Breaker but the defender does not use a Combo Breaker; it will result in the attacker dropping his combo and leaving himself open for a punish for 27 frames.

Break anything - It is now possible to Combo Break anything not just auto-doubles. When Combo Break Enders/Linkers/Openers you have to time the Combo Break to the hitstop of the attack three times in a row. The announcer says, '1, 2, 3!!' To me it sounds like parrying supers in Third Strike, but you only have to 'parry' three hits in a row.

Shadow Counters - This is the Alpha Counters of KI. Costs 1 bar and can combo from it. Unlike an alpha counter it has no invincibility so if you do it in the middle of a block string you will get hit and that meter spent on the Shadow Counter will be lost.

Anyone know if it's possible to counter the counter breaker?

Also if you counter a combo breaker, does your combo count stay the same number or it resets to 0?

Cool! Thanks for putting the info in one clear spot :)

New Mechanics walkthrough is on Gametrailers. It also goes through some of the changes they've made to the mechanics since the E3 build.

Char select theme sounds sick from that small sample. And damn this game is shaping up nicely, I have a lot of hope for the final product.

Really liking the music myself so far as well. Good stuff!

Question: wouldn't it be cool if this would be the first modern fighting game to (re-)introduce the idea of real time visual character damage? I mean, the stages already get damaged, so why not go the extra mile and have the character models become more damaged (again: visually, not functionally) during the fight as well?

I know tournament players would probably be against this, but with that mindset we can never have fighting games get more in line with the visual possibilites of modern hardware. (At some point I also would like to see someone try replacing life bars with real time functional character damage in 2D games as well, i.e. have characters become less effective during the fight, but perhaps also less predictable as in Bushido Blade) but that will never make it in as long as developers try to cater their games to the very conservative tournament crowd).

At this point I'm not sure if the diehard fighting game community is a positive or negative influence on fighting games anymore. On the one hand it is their enthusiasm that made all the latest games possible and that creates such a buzz around the genre, but on the other hand it seems like the games can never deviate too much from the norm else they get sh*t on by that same community (which happened to the shunned SFxT in many ways, even though plenty of casual players really liked it). Bit of a dilemma I would say, and one that summarizes a general tension between all fans and creators.

Yeah, I think real time visual character damage would be awesome in this game. With your concern to the tournament crowd I could see it being an option that could be turned on or off yeah?

Interesting way to using Kinect for Tournaments, Basically having Kinect see you and set your controls how you like and sort out stuff for you. That could be a pretty cool feature if they pull it off. Nothing amazing but if you have people swapping in and out, you would not have to keep changing the settings etc.

Interesting to see a Launch Developer actually make an interesting use of Kinect outside of waggling.

Yep, it sounds really good/convenient.

Sounds frigging cool. When playing FPS with friends we constantly keep changing the invert settings.. Its annoying.

MS tried to do something with each profile having its own settings attached. This use of Kinect seems like a much better use of that previous feature.

True, but thats only when ur signed in with a controller. This could work just by handing the controller over to another player. Presuming the other player has some sort of Kinect profile.

Yeah, this KI way could be pretty cool if it works as intended.

I posted this in the Glacius reveal thread and then I remembered we have a main thread for KI.
----------------------
Was just thinking about the game announcers voice during the Ultra Combo and saw this thread on the DH forums discussing all three.

I think the one where he yells ULLLLLLLLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ( the third vid )

Is by far the most hype and is basically what I sound like when I pull off some crazy shit online or watching some tourney play. Maybe they'll let us choose?

I never thought of the possibilities actually because I had no interest in Kinect. When u think about what they can do with this feature.. Its pretty covenient.

So for example: If my 5 year old son would play a game ... It would load HIS savegame automaticly with no chance of him messing up my game.
Or I dont have to change all the settings to easy when he's playing a game for example.

Am I seeing this wrong?

I am guessing that is possible. No reason why Kinect could not see him and load his save and settings. Guess it depends how many options they give a game + Kinect to load/save.

I was pretty hyped when they announced this, but as I've seen more and more of it its easily become my most hyped next gen launch game by far.

I'm really looking forward to 2013-2014. Major next gen multiplatform games, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Titanfall, Sunsent Overdrive, etc.

Going to be a lot of fun.

That concept art is indeed cool :)

I am not really too keen on Master Chief being in it, but i wouldn't be surprised if he makes it in. There are other (minor) characters from the Halo universe that i think might fit KI a bit more, like Tartarus from Halo 2:

Anyway, bring on Gamescom and the full features lowdown!

Some concept art I saw by some RARE guy, so awesome I have to share.

I want MC in this! (Is that bad??)[/QUOTE]

that is pretty bad.
