Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

I think at E3 people said Sabrewulf is OP, curious if they did make any adjustments because of that.

He wasn't OP at E3. I'd say he and Jago were pretty close, although I'd give Jago a slight edge (5.5/4.5 maybe).

They didn't change anything as far as I could tell in the Evo build (for Sabre), it's just that the advantages that Jago and Glacius have became much more prevalent.

@DrDogg

Some people think the combo breakers are too easy to perform (Max mentioned this when referencing Glacius).

Care to comment?

In the E3 build I think they were fine. In the Evo build, they changed it so you can break Linkers, Shadow Linkers (unless used as an Opener), and even Enders (only if used after a 2-hit combo).

I think the ability to break normal Linkers should be changed. When using a Linker, you can only use Light and Medium attacks. If you use a Heavy attack, you get an Ender. So the defending player has a 50% chance of landing a Combo Breaker during a Linker.

On Saturday night I was playing a moderately novice player. He had a solid grasp of the system, but his general fundamentals were weak. He was Breaking me left and right, and when I asked him if he was doing it on-reaction to the Auto-Doubles (this isn't that hard to do), he said he was just guessing. That shouldn't happen. Even with Counter Breakers, he was still Breaking me far too often.

I always felt like the combo breakers were just tricky enough timing wise that they were "fair" in the first two games. Hopefully they dial them back a little bit in terms of what you can break and when.

That explains billion breakers in recent vids. I hope the devs are listening.

"it."

RIPTOR.

#BELIEVE

See, I'm not the only one Double Helix!

"There can never be enough dinosaurs in gaming!"

Edit: and a big YES to the dynamic music. Wow that really gave me goosebumps! As hoped, this game's creation might just be worth it for the music alone.

EDIT: imagine, like galcius and the flying shards of broken ice, feathers. feathers flying out everywhere!

Yeahhh not sure how well Riptor will translate over, it's surprisingly difficult for games to get reptile creatures right. Lizardman in Soul Calibur 5 was done perfectly I think.

I'm with you man, but she (!!!) is not a dinosaur :P

Human/Reptile Hybrid.

Always looked kind of "snakey" to me with the forked tongue and wide neck. Werecobra?

Well, it's because he's a lizard man, Riptor is more like a dinosaur with human intelligence.

If the devs were listening, Mike Z would have more authority. He is the biggest KI fan and no one knows the older KIs mechanically better than him unless they worked on it. He should be in charge of making KI3.

I don't know, they have the OG game designer, KLobb.

Yeah, so they have Ken Lobb working on it instead.

I'd much rather have the guys that made WeaponLord and Street Fighter and Killer Instinct working on a new Killer Instinct than Mike Z. And I love Mike Z.

I'd still like some word on if the counter breaker is something he dislikes, or was a change made at his suggestion. I could see it being either way...

But overall, when I think about what I've seen in Skullgirls itself, and what I see in this KI, I do wonder what MikeZ is talking about. Watching "Stylin" ultras in KI isn't any worse than some of the longer combos in Skullgirls. And at least the KI ones happen end-of-match with double ultras.

The opponent knows they're dead. They can stop paying attention now. I almost feel like it's a "Test your might!" mini-game, in the fact that it's just a dumb addition for some fun.

In SG, you have to sit through the whole combo mid-match, so it's not like you can decide NOT to pay attention to the opponents long-winded loop at any time.

I do think MikeZ could make a good KI if given the chance. But I'm not sure I'd end up liking what he made more than what DH has shown so far.

OH FUCK YES!!!! It's the original versus screen music :D

EDIT: Which is weird cause I didn't hear it during the versus screen in any of the streams.

In the streams it was just the KI theme playing iirc

I love how people were just freaking out over an unfinished product though ;)

The new KI has more systems than KI2, so the KI purists are still gonna complain.

I don't mind, and i really liked KI1 more than KI2. The 5 finishers rule in KI2 really was that turned me off of that game and other more banal stuff like visual style and the same model for the 3 females.

But that solo was never in the game :p

If I can accept new Glacius I think I can accept this change. It will be hard but I will make the effort. By this point Killer Cuts is more canon than original to me heh.

That said if it doesn't change I'm happy they kept the original theme and didn't go for something new. I would just like to see the title theme be the extended version if at all possible. They've been pretty open to fan feedback and stated they read gaf so that's my fan feedback.
