Everything about this movie sounds great but then the trailer made it look like a run of the mill action movie. I still plan on seeing it but I'm not nearly as excited as I was.

editors have really taken this year off. everything is a 2+ hour monster.

Oppenheimer (180 minutes)
John Wick: Chapter 4 (169 minutes)
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (163 minutes)
Fast X (141 minutes)
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (140 minutes)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (139 minutes)
The Flash (135 minutes)
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (125 minutes)

Also funny considering The Irishman was clowned on for being too long at 3h 29m so he trimmed a whole 3 minutes for his next film.

I have no doubt of the films quality, but I miss 90-minute movies.

I agree with you, but at the same time there are some classics where I think they'd be better for a bit more run time.

There's a guy on YouTube who does videos about the "lost" versions of movies, I watched his videos on Planes Trains and Automobiles and Uncle Buck (movies by John Hughes) and both contained info that filled in the gaps on why a couple of scenes in those films feel weird, or would be better with more setup. These are things that seemed weird to me since I watched them as a kid, and so in those cases I think the 90 minute run time was detrimental in some cases, just as some films being too long is a problem today.

But yeah, more films clocking in at 90 minutes would be welcome.

Hopefully it has an intermission. Goodfellas is one of my favorite movies of all time but it could have been trimmed into a tighter experience and it's runtime is "only" 148 minutes.
I love people like you, telling Scorsese how to do his job.

Movies with 3+ hour runtimes struggle to hold my attention. The Irishman didn't and that was a brilliant movie. I actually think it's a problem when directors are incapable of condensing their films to tell concise stories, just shoot a miniseries if you want expanded narrative.

But…then…it wouldnt be goodfellas?

That original runtime IS goodfellas. Goodfellas is excellent with that runtime because of all those shots and pacing etc.

Without it you wouldnt know how goodfellas would have turned out

What time is it?

Sure it would.

Goodfellas is excellent but no film is perfect.

Sure you would.

Who's telling him how to do his job? We can't be critical of something we love? Seems like a strange attitude but I suppose we all have our sacred cows.

Good. If a story is complex enough and needs the time, give it, but make sure there is an intermission at the theater. Not only this, but movie times for Part 1 and part 2 should be available as to allow people to break up their viewings if they want.

The movie will make more money this way as well.

critisize all you want, but keep in mind that movie was desinged shot for shot for that length, someone lived and breathed it for years before you saw it, he didn’t just add long takes to just make it longer for you to test see if you can hold your pee

It was written, shot, and then edited and ended up a certain length. The exact runtime isn't part of the design, the design is telling a story. My criticism of Goodfellas isn't necessarily the length, it's how it uses that length at times. Wolf is longer and I don't have the same issues with it as I do Goodfellas even if I like Goodfellas more, if that makes sense.

Movie is going to be incredible, for sure seeing it first weekend. Think i'll catch it in Dobly though for the recliners (don't think this one has any real imax scenes)

Jesus dude you ok? Maybe see a doc on that.
You laugh whippersnapper but us old folks would rather not have to endure a full bladder.

This is a film that begs for 2-3 tall drafts, but that would entail at least 1 bathroom break. Far better to have a scheduled intermission for everyone than CONSTANT interruptions throughout the theater. Hell, just throw up cool historical facts about the period to entertain the dehydrated in the audience :p

I can’t do these long films in theatres anymore. I cannot sit down for that long anymore. I start getting crampy. Will watch this at home
