Just got back from work. Watched 1 whole video......stunning. This destroys anything I've ever seen done on consoles.

So I guess the publications are only allowed to post videos and screens of the three first levels, am I correct? Or can we assume more videos in the coming day(s)?

Actually the preview build contains 6 chapters, amongst which 5 take place in the city you see in the very first chapter (the one everybody's seen at GC 2008). Only chapter 6 takes place in the desert which means you're unlikely to see other environements than city and desert in the next few weeks (unless some web site had a special deal with Sony to check the next chapters).

Guerilla sure managed to impress me with this game, and I'm hard to please when it comes to shooter. I'm still not going to play it, but then I don't play any FPS or TPS ;)

Did some cut off your hands? What's wrong?

NOOO! ...sprint is mapped to the sticks on every single config! =*(
I WOULD have hated that too but im in the beta and it's toggled. You dont have to hold it...it doesnt bother you AT ALL..even if you dont like running on R3.

Wollan/Blim are those gamersyde videos of single player? Are they better (visually) than the multi? Those "preview build" screens look about 10% better (and higher res than normal.)

There will be an option to change that behavior in the final game, same with crouching

awesome, i'm no cod4 player but alternate 2 is most like resistance 2 for me and I like it. I actually want to hold L1 while I fire.

OMG.

but for the love of God Guerilla,

........... fix the VA. The new Voice Actors sound ridiculous. Mr. Convoy sounds like he has lung cancer.

Game looks great, as usual. I absolutely hate the soldier dialog tho.
"I am cold, next time we're invading a hotel" :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

And to the "thats the fucking convoy?" part. They left that the same and I :lol :lol :lol :lol

wow how the mighty IGN have fallen. wtf is up with that preview. Also shotgun not feeling like "raw death in your hands" wtf. Did they play the MP? It can't be that diff a feel in SP right? Flamethrower making people dance before succumbing is much more realistic and awesome. Why such negative attitude towards it right away?

Also, they should fix the "speech every 4 second". This might be the only thing I agree with IGN. It's fucking awesome how AI interacts with you and tell you what to do but please, reduce the intervals from 3-4seconds to 30-60 seconds (Highly noticable in the beginning of Welcome part 1 where Rico tells Sev to move his ass).

Wow... just wow.... the more I see, the more I can't wait.

BTW, people having problems direct downloading, get on BT and get it, that's what I'm doing to help Blim and Co. out. :D

It's a PS3 exclusive...

I wonder what some reviewers will find to give this a 9.0 in graphics. Uh, we can see slight jaggies now and then. The lighting, while impressive, doesn't give the game a graphical feel that is as visceral as Gears of War 2.

What the hell? This is a serious question - I'm not trolling. Did they downgrade the opening? It looks so different.....

Eurgh @ the voice acting.

FIX IT ASAP GUERILLA. It was far better in the E307 video.

I also liked the E307 faces better :(

I also think the opening to the E307 video was more epic compared to the current one. Looks like they changed the lighting. Looks as good though, but I preferred the 'epicness' of the E307 video. That looked and sounded like a real warzone.

Blim ... TTP ... any impressions? Liked it as much as the MP?

Some slowdowns/frame drops aside and other minor issues which are clearly going to be fixed (like voice over), Killzone 2 is a rollercoaster of a shooter.

What I liked the most (technicalities aside as vids speak for themselves) is how non-linear the approach to firefight is. On the one side, you have the AI acting unpredictably so everytime you re-do the same fight, it actually plays out differently (Video 01 shows this quite clearly when I repeat the last section after dieing). On the other side, levels are designed so that you can change approaches to the same confrontation quite radically. You can see this in one of the Welcome vids when I go upstairs while Garza stays down near the stairs. I have three options there. Shooting from above. Use the turret. Turn the corner ahead and go down the stairs to hit the HGHs from behind. There are many situations with such tactical freedom.

I also liked the Lean & Peak mechanics and overall controls. Coming from two online beta phases I got used to the standard configuration and it kinda makes more sense with the L&P mechanic in place. Anyway, L&P works pretty well. You push L2 to crouch, and if you are close to something, you stick to it as long as you keep L2 presses. What I liked about this is that you never feel "trapped" when you are behind cover. On the one side, you are free to slide and peak in any direction you want. But you can also rotate 360° no problem (gun automatically points ahead when there is no wall). So I don't feel too "scared" about being attacked from the side. And being it a Hold rather than Toggle thing, you cannot fuck it up when detaching yourself from cover to get behind another one. It works really, REALLY well. To the point that I seriously think I wouldn't mind having the option to use it online as well.

What I liked the less are changes occurred to some levels. Especially how Visari Square looks now. IMO, it's too bright and colorful. Blue pavement, orange lights and greenish structure in the background? I liked the darker version more. I hope GG is not too afraid of the B/W stigma and adding colors to avoid it.

As for my "quick fix", I'd suggest adding more flying drones. They are criminally underused IMO. In the first 6 levels at least. In Resistance 2, flying drones are very cleverly used to spice things up and force you to swap from ground-to-ground to ground-to-air combat. And move from cover to cover. Not so in KZ2. In the preview code levels. Perhaps shit hits the fan later.

The most amazing thing about the IGN preview is that they actually complain about the gun sounds.

It really goes to show how fucking stupid and biased these sites are. How can you complain about the sound in the game, especially the weapons? The audio in the game, and that IGN article are both unbelievable, and in different values totally.

Quick fixes eh? Thank God they don't have a shred of influence.

At first I though I'd get a laugh out of media observations on the game, but now it's down right disgusting how the bias of some of the suspected media sites are. Just because they're scrubs and need overly intrusive auto-aim to kill people, and/or don't like whats shaping up to be the definitive FPS is on the PS3 exclusively, they're making ridiculous claims and trying to tear down the game any way they can.

Can't wait for Scrub Ellis/1up comments on this, along with what will surely be epic material from Gamespot on this.

WTF are you guys complaining about? I love the dialogs. It makes the characters seem more alive. Not just toys.

yes it does but some of it is just cheese heaven

its ok though my only real annoyance is ricos voice hes been smoking for 40 years and has lung cancer and a broken voicebox by the sound of it.

I like the characters, they seem interesting enough.

Just finished reading the ign preview, and I must say its the most enthusiastic attempt at game journalism I've had the pleasure to read in a long long long time.

IGN has a vision. IGN has a vision on how they think Killzone 2 should look, play, sound and narrate. The Problem is, IGN isn't the fucking developers of Killzone 2, Gurrilla Games is developers of Killzone 2.

Now, I'm actually not upset at the so call quick fixes IGN feels that this game Needs, and or is missing. IGN is entitled to their own opinion, but the problem is, that they write as if Gurrilla Games attempt at making an awesome game has some how fell short.

Why? You may ask. Simply because GG didn't meet the specs of IGN so called Vision and or "Quik Fixes" that the game is doomed to fail, well at least fail on their site (less then stellar game review.)

Yea I am definitely not digging the new look for Visari Square and some of the character models definitely look worse. Rico's voice is fucking AWFUL lol

HOLY BITE ON MY BALLLLLLZZZZ . SHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIITTTT ON MY CHEST GUERIALLLA.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccckckkck ME

IAM GOING TO BUY A SECOND PS3 SO IT CAN WATCH THE OTHER ONE JERK ITSELF OFF WHILE PLAYING THIS GAME. AND I WILL JERK THE ONE THAT'S WATCHING AND SEMEN WILL FLY ONTO THE SCREEN.

Me too...i'm sure in an actual situation like this, there would be MORE talking and screaming and yelling. Not less.

I love the dialog too though but they are still using placement holders for VO.
