Ok, I should have been more clear. I will rent the game. This does not devalue the single player experience or the online. Personally, after Resistance 2 and it's 8 hour campaign, I swore never to buy another FPS that has a multiplayer component with no splitscreen (something I didn't know was even conceivable for a FPS prior to buying R2, save for Unreal Tournament III...which eventually got split screen for the 360 anyway, despite being a "technical behemoth") because I always have friends over.
Fair enough. If no offline splitscreen is a dealbreaker for you no matter what positives a shooter has, then I won't argue with your personal tastes. But don't be surprised that other folks don't share this attitude, due to their personal tastes. No one is saying that splitscreen isn't a feature, just that it being missing doesn't automatically negate the sale for them like it does for you.

If KZ2 doesn't support home, it signals a major disconnect at Sony.

I mean this is one of their premiere games and has been in development for as long as Home has.

It will be a huge mistake if they aren't integrating with home.

All 1st party online games from now on should have 100% home support integrated on launch. What the fck is Sony doing?

There's a "Join Friend" option. You see a list of everyone on your friends list, whether they're online or not and where they are playing. And you can just select which friends game you want to jump into.

It all seems a bit disjointed though. Since there isn't a group chat option in game (or is there?) as far as chatting with multiple friends no matter what rooms they are in, how will you coordinate? Will you simply join a friends room and talk to him that way? What if he's on the other team? What if you want to find a different room that your friends can be on and be in a squad together? Will the only way of doing this be to simply jump into a "ringleaders" room and play until things even out?

Sorry, just wondering how this is supposed to work with a server list and no way of communicating without a party system or group chat. Also my question about ranked matches has yet to be answered. Are there ranked matches in KZ2?

No matchmaking or party system? Kind of putrid...

Also, how do friends jump into ranked matches together? Wait...are there ranked matches in KZ2? I can hardly imagine people jumping in and out of ranked matches...

Warhawk doesn't have matchmaking. Having servers restricted to a rank range works well, I think. In Warhawk (which I am using only as a reference, as I don't know how KZ2 will do it) you can set up a ranked server that will require a minimum number of players to play and a basic set of game features. We would just set up a server (ranked or not) and name it something then we could all join that server. If there is home integration then you will probably set up a server when everyone is together and just jump in to that. I wonder how clan competitions will work.

"hile we're pretty confident that fans of the more 'realistic' Call of Duty 4 will take to Killzone 2 like the proverbial duck to water, we're unsure how fans of precise, technical shooters like Halo will adapt. We thoroughly enjoyed the realistic handling of Killzone 2's weapons of mass destruction, swaying recklessly as we struggled to make the shots, but we have a sneaky feeling that those used to a steady reticule will possibly get frustrated in this regard. It could be a very clear case of gamers either loving or hating the feel of Killzone 2.
"

I don't see how Halo 3 is a precise, technical shooter when it has so much auto-aim.

I don't understand that either. H3 is not by any means a "precise, technical shooter", it is the water wings/training wheels of shooters, period. With it overly influencing of copious auto-aim, bullet sponge, rediculous quick sniping, it's clearly the kiddie starter set of shooters even when compared to CoD4.

This sounds nice.

There's a squad option which can be locked, and I think there's cross squad talk as well. Right now basically if you have four friends you can all join one squad and keep playing and chatting because the game basically rolls on from one game of warzone to another.

I'd say that Call of Duty 4 is about as basic as it can get in terms of shooters. It is very much a shooting gallery in terms of running out with a gun capable of quick aiming with low recoils and killing people in a few trigger pulls with ease.

Halo 3 on the other hand, at least forces more tactics in terms of weapon control, map control, and etc. Both are very very good games though.

As someone who's played a ton of Halo 3, Gears, CoD4, Unreal Tournament , CS and many other franchises I like the pace of what I see from KZ2.

I've never seen a game that has a party mode where you can carry your friends with you AND dedicated servers/choose your room. It would be cool to have though. So like you have 4 people in your lobby, than you click "games list" and choose the room. Any game do that?

It won't turn me off from the game. Sounds great one way or the other.

Party system would be nice though. Get into a party, and the server list refreshes and shows rooms that will allow you to be on the same team. Probably a rarity for a large group though if team balance is paid attention to at all.

I love the sound in this game! Even the little touches that help in a big way, the 'churp' that confirms a kill, right down to the sound of your gun fire changing when your clip/mag is running low, reminding you to reload.

Like many have said, a party system would be really great. I'm not fussed on matchmaking.

I thought the KZ2 beta is pretty precise, basically with any weapon other than the shotgun and the explosive weaponary, you can score a headshot with everything else, it's not spray-and-pray by a LONG shot, obviously people can't shoot while jumping down or jump and shoot and stuff like that but it's tactical enough while remaining pretty fast paced.

chances are if you've been in a beta before for a ps3 game (non qore related), you will be in kz2 beta

I've been in the Warhawk beta, the LBP beta and the R2 beta .... where's ma beta code?:lol

Seriously though ... it ain't that big of a deal. R2 and LBP beta's were nice cause not much was out. I'm satisfied now until the game actually comes out.

Dammit, that's still happening? That's why I haven't played for the last two nights. :( I'd be playing, having a good time then boom... the game would freeze. Kinda disappointing. Better to happen now then in February I guess. I'm gonna go try now...

I don't read the official KZ forums, but perhaps it's better to raise issues there so the community managers can make a list of stuff people really want. (People do seem to want a lot)

Another -1 for Tempy ,
As for changing anything due to any kind of popular demand, I think those days are gone. We are finishing up the game now and not implementing or changing any functionality. What we have is what you get now.

Why do you have to be such a douchebag just because you're not in the beta?

Betas in competitive multiplayer games are incredibly unfair. I reall hope there's at least a limited demo before release so I can get some idea of what weapons I like and such.

Don't worry, there might be under 10000 members are playing beta.

You will meet hunderd times more fresh players on the launch day.
