im afraid it wouldnt have the same impact today :(

too many other games to play as well

This is one game that holds up incredibly well, especially with it's environment, for less than a buck there is no reason to not go play this game.

I was just watching the video on game trailers, and it seems like the hud and stuff on the left side needed to be moved over. the names of people dying looked way to close to the aiming reticle.

It's because in reality it's still yet another World War II FPS on the inside :P

It's not as bad as all that. If you check the timeline on killzone.com (if it's actually working) then you can see it's way less than a thousand years into the future. Less than 400, in fact.

And we've got antigravity tech, FTL travel, Massdrivers and Particle Cannon on ships and other goodies like that.

well you can turn the HUD off in this game :)

Hah woops sorry. I was still getting used to sniping and you actually started on the other team that session I think. At least earlier on I thought I got killed by you.

Sorry!

Felt good headshotting you though..bastard :-P

I hate to state the obvious, but I'm sure you already know. Tempy works for Guerilla as do you lol.

I'm really hoping the rocket launcher is tweaked going by videos and commentary in this thread. It seems like a bad idea to begin with honestly.

I'm using it until it's fixed.

It's soo funny killing snipers like FFObsessed. :p

I hate all you rocket launcher fucks. Especially icechai.
Man in that game we had 3 rockets flying at us while we were trying to place c4. 3 Rockets at a damn time.

Rocket launchers are only really annoying on Blood Gracht. Everything is so narrow that you don't have enough time to get out the way if someone fires one at you. I rarely see anyone using them on Salamun Market.

Just remove it and tweak the grenade launcher if needed. Like someone else said, they could have it spawn with one shot or something in the ammo crates.

I could see them maybe reducing the amount of starting ammo and/or increasing the load time, but really it isn't the end all weapon. I was playing with it and it definitely behaves differently then I expected. Sure I got a few kills but I still went down easy enough if I missed. Now, if I get better with the pistol.

By the way, how are some of you so damn good with the pistol? Perhaps I just suck at getting headshots, but when I pull out the pistol I have to empty a whole clip into someone and generally find the firing rate inconsistent. I suppose it isn't supposed to be a show stopper in everyone's hands.

Indeed, although in my case it's more did rather than do. T'was a time when I sat a couple of desks away from Tempy. :)

In my opinion Killzone 2 does share some aspects that you would normally find in a WWII fps, but these needn't be an anachronism and certainly aren't unexplained by the storyline.

Besides, projectile weapons make a lot of noise and shake about and are a special effects orgasm. Laser weapons are a touch clinical and I can't believe anyone would ever agree to be strapped into a plasma weapon or stand next to anyone holding one.

Well, but Tempy is right on something, clearly the hellghast design has something to do with the german army of the 1930's -1940's .
The art direction of K2 is amazing by the way.

Absolutely they do. They also borrow themes from other monolithic despotic armies like the Chinese and Soviet Armies from the cold war era as well.

You can suggest a lot about the kind of organization a soldier works for by their body armor and weapons. I know our Visualization guys spent a lot of time making sure that the two sides evoked the right impressions.

It's scripted on the level of Gears (you get fed scenarios but with the enemies being really active) BUT... but wait for Dec.4th. I saw some more material just now. *shakes head in disbelief* It's like seeing Surface Tension in HL1 for the first time again.
Wow, that's a hell of a high water mark to aim for. You don't tend to go for hyperbole either so this is shooting up to nearly the top of my mental most anticipated games list.

Yeah, and they did a good job.
Every soldier looks really scary. :D
Hey, are you one of the writers of K2 ?

EDIT: On the last SP Trailer there is like a general or commander, the design is amazing and its clearly inspired on the german army of the 30's

Why can't they let you choose which emblem you earn when you rank up? Otherwise there are too many medics and hardly and of the other classes. But I guess this will change in the long run...

You can never have too many medics, usually there aren't enough medics. >:3

Is Killzone 2 ,the best MP FPS you have played on the PS3 ?

So I watched a walkthrough of Surface Tension on YouTube last night. The whole thing, 40 minutes. Good times, brought me back.

The scope and scale of the that... chapter, can't really call it "a level," plus the KZ2 rendering engine?

Dude. Duuuuuuude.

I'd rather have no medics than douchebags who heal you from the other side of doorways.

Edit: It blocks the doorway.
It gives the enemy multiple kills.
After the revival aninmation, I always end up facing the wrong way...
Gahhh!!!

This medic thing could be fixed with a "call medic" option after death. Press a button to call a medic, or just respawn.

You really think so? We fly in planes, for god's sake. A pressurized piece of steel pushed through the atmosphere by explosions. We don't cry out with fear that scientists are freely using something like the Large Hadron Collider without the total consent of the human race. We freely accept a lot of things in our time and age that someone 400 years in the past would deem us crazy for doing.. I'm not saying that KZ should be Halo, with lasers or shields and the like. I am saying that i find it incongruous that human weapons technology wouldn't have progressed thoroughly .

Very true, in body armor they seem to be modeled after the German army of WW II plus influenced by some comic book designs as well. A very iconic design, for sure. Nice to have you on here, used to follow your posts on the KZ/Sony boards. Glad to have Tempy on here as well to represent GG.

Obviously everyone here is pretty excited about the game, as am I. Only regret is that I didn't get into the beta, but that's ok. It'll be out in good time. :D

Only thing I want in the final game is camera control when you're agonizing. Really annoying when you get revived and your character ends up facing the wall or some shit.

i was trying out the assault class, lol it was quite hilarious. They should keep the first rocket launcher in the game as that one is a lot more balanced, once I started using the other one, oh boy was it over. Your teammate Tru-something had a honor badge and all he uses is that 2nd rocket launcher exclusively.

You guys are making a big deal out of the grenade launcher, or maybe it's me and I haven't had terrible experiences yet but they take so long to load that if they miss they are usually fucked.

Anyways I was playing yesterday around 3 A.M. and there was only one room available and my team fucking sucked I had more kills than all my other teammates combined.

I generally use the Grenade Launcher to charge into rooms held by multiple enemies... great way to shake things up when paired with the right kit! :D

Cracked the top 10 at number 9 and pushed FFObessed down to #10.
I'm at 1150 Headshots now :lol
Closest 1 behind me is still only 751 headshots.

Man I need to take a break. Haven't even gone to sleep yet, how sad is that.
It's 1 am now :lol
Stayed up all night/morning playing :/

Yes, I see this... along with a mix of waffen ss... I love the character design in this game...

I mentioned this once before, but the art/render style/engine reminds me of oil work by Jean Leon Gerome... it is really quite incredible...

or just give the guy on the ground the option to end himself. if he wants to be revived, he waits for a medic. if not, he presses 'o' or whatever and jumps into the respawn queue.
