I'm on a huge media blockout. What's Sessler? Oh wait don't tell.

I'll be on the first line when the demo comes out. And when the game come out too.

Kaako you crazy mofo hahaha
Adam Sessler - hes a host on G4. He made a video of himself layin down the law with just ridiculous accusations from forum posters as to how they could give a PS3 exclusive 5/5 and if it was a 360 exclusive they would have been more excited about it - you know, the same ol crap.

Couldn't resist....

Sooooo....Who's gonna give this thing a try in 5 minutes? :lol

I will and again at 10 am est. I always try these things at midnight, and they never happen.

The WORST was the MGO beta, which ended up getting pushed back a week after we sat around for fucking hours.

I'm sick of these reviews and explanations already...

But seriously, how could you rate a shooters controls as mediocre and give it a near perfect score? Then you trip over yourself saying it may be your own fault? Then why would you rate that part of it a 5?

Again, I don't ask to make it a serious matter, it really isn't, but that seems incoherent. It's not like I'm not buying the game already, and I know it's a Playstation site, but c'mon.

Naw, I completely understand the question. My score stands; I think the controls need work, if only to help bridge the gap between how quickly you can look around and the precision needed to properly make small adjustments while on the move. Right now, for me, the controls are too touchy in the fine adjustments, yet not quite quick enough when just trying to look around. I haven't yet found anyone else that had as much trouble as I did in playing things, which to me suggests that I might just suck, and I'm more than willing to see that as an out.

Does it change score for me? Noope, but neither does the fact that I can't seem to hit a guy five feet in front of me without spraying like a lawn sprinkler in multiplayer detract from the fun I had with the game. I wish I could properly explain it in a way that makes more sense, but the good parts of the game simply overpowered any of the negatives I may have experienced with the controls. It really is a 9.0 for me, and it was something I really wrestled with up until the moment I picked a score (we only grade on .5s, so it was either an 8.5 or a 9.0, and it was far closer to a flat nine than a eight and a half).

The multiplayer is amazingly good. For leveling whores like me, it's seriously crack, and there's so many little things to shoot for and ways to tweak your game and play style that even if I can't hit shit, I'm still having an absolute blast trying. My stats will have been wiped out twice by the time the game launches, and I'm going to relish leveling up all over again as much the third time as I did the first -- maybe even more.

I realize that may not make a whole lot of sense, but... well, there it is. Ordinarily, a game with extremely blah controls would detract more from the experience for me. This time around though, it really didn't, which is why I went with the scores I did.

I think you might wanna skip the most recent two pages, Sam. Just sayin'.

Heh, too late, but if I can offer my opinion on things, there's absolutely no reason why someone can't disagree. It's what debate's all about, and nobody's going to agree with me 100% of the time. Hopefully I can explain why I scored things the way I did -- not to change minds or anything, but to help back up my reasoning for things. If not, no biggie, but I certainly don't mind trying.

And now... to (try to) catch up again...

Hm. I dunno. Sounds like a personal thing.

I don't have any issue at all aiming very quickly with even the default sensitivities.

You've got to get used to aiming in the general direction BEFORE going into iron sights, and then using iron sights for smaller, more precise adjustments. I'm kind of used to doing that with Uncharted, so Killzone 2 felt really natural in that regard.

Any 'running and gunning' is obviously going to be done without iron sights even being needed, and I haven't really had much issue with precision given how forgiving the reticule is while shooting at short distance from the hip. If you shoot in short bursts rather than holding the button down, you shouldn't get much recoil, thus you shouldn't really feel like you're spraying like a sprinkler or whatever.

You really have to 'pre-aim', then 'aim' to become very quick and skilled at it. Once you do, it's very rewarding.

Hey Sam, do you know what the rules for leveling up are when it comes to bots? I know you don't get any EXP when playing with bots only, but I'm hearing mixed things as far as how many humans have to be in the server for it to count.

so.....does anyone know the reasoning behind not putting stuff up at midnight or w/e?

how does this server side stuff usually work? is there really just an upload button or do they need to prep stuff or......

I really think there is a button. Usually it's some person or monkey that pushes the button. >_>

Yep, and that's something I picked up on fairly quickly. Iron sights are for making most of the fine adjustments, and it's meant to add another layer of "softer" response to using the analog sticks. It's better, but still not ideal for me. I'm gonna shaddap from now on, though, and just dedicate myself to sticking to one sensitivity (the default) and play another five or so hours of online before talking about it again. Luckily for you, that means you'll be able to fill my face with bullets for hours on end. :)

Just one. I basically leveled up by using bots and having one or two (or sometimes three) friends in the game. Even if they're all on the same side, you'll still get experience, though maybe that'll change on the live servers. It basically means you can still progress (albeit slowly) without needing a full game.

They never put them up at midnight or at 3 est. They are just toying with us, the RE demo came out on a monday, so clearly they could put this up right now.

Sam, if it makes you feel any better... I sprayed like a lawn sprinkler when someone gets in close proximity to me too. I absolutely sucked when I first started playing the Killzone 2 Multiplayer beta. Someone would get close to me and my viewpoint would look like I was having a seizure. I think it had more to do with me not being used to using a console controller for an FPS. (I'm a keyboard and mouse guy)

After about 10+ hours of multiplayer I really got into the groove of things, though. The more you play (and play with GOOD players...) the better you get. Especially when you go and seek out a server with lower skilled players after playing with higher skilled guys for a while. You can really rack up the points, heh.

A lot of it is managing recoil, too; for instance, if you hold down the button for the assault rifle, the recoil will be magnified.

If you use shorter bursts, you will have steadier control. Once I did this, I had no problem with close-quarters aiming.
