So, I've gone through the demo 3/4 times now
Well my first complaint, as with so many others, is the controls. I've given it a fair chance, and they're just no good. I don't understand why developers
still limit the control customisation options in games.
What's wrong with letting people create a button layout that suits them, rather than going by a handful of presets?
What use is an aiming sensitivity option when there's no control over acceleration or deadzone?
Due to the stupid acceleration setting in Killzone, the aiming feels very sluggish and it makes it difficult to make small corrections to your aiming.
Visually I'm a bit unsure about the game really, it's very bland. Ok, I realise it's a war, but it's just so dark and grey and boring.
The lighting is nice in places, but they seem to have gone out of their way to make it as annoying as possible, by having it bloom out whenever it's close to where you're aiming, and putting lens flares all over the screen. Maybe it's just me, but if I were fighting in a war and for whatever reason I'm getting lots of glare/lens flare like that, I'd be swapping out my helmet for one without a visor asap.
It's also very soft looking, which I don't particularly like. I don't know if that's QAA at work or not, but I'd much rather have a sharp, aliased game than a soft looking one with smooth edges.
They also seem to
really like motion blur. You hardly have to move at all and everything on the screen blurs. I'm also not sure if it even is a proper motion blur effect they're using. On the guns it seems like it might be, but it looks like it could just be using a general blur on the screen when you're panning around, similar to what Uncharted did.
I understand that using effects like depth of field, blooming, motion blur etc. make the game look good in videos, but it's just annoying when you're trying to actually play a game.
There also seemed to be quite a lot of small objects/detail popping in during the demo. Strangely, a lot of those objects fade out smoothly at a distance rather than just disappearing, so I'm wondering if it's maybe a bug that has them popping in rather than fading in smoothly. (though it's still pretty noticeable)
The level design seemed really restrictive, with invisible barriers all over the place. The lip-syncing also seemed to be really bad, when playing in English at least.
As for gameplay, I don't know what it is specifically, but it just didn't click with me at all, just felt very average. A lot like the first Resistance actually I don't understand why so many people were in love with it either. I know I'll get eaten alive for saying it, but I do wonder sometimes if it's the average Playstation owner's limited experience with/exposure to FPS games that has them get overrated like this.
Oh, and I hate the cover system. Not only is it not that effective, it means you end up sticking to walls if you're crouching. Should have put it on another button.

Makes no sense to use Alt 2.
The default control scheme allows you to get in cover and use the zoom button at the same time. A bit hard to do that while using Alt 2.
Index finger on L1, middle finger on L2. How terribly difficult.
For people suggesting crouch toggle, it would be nice, but as the crouch button is also the cover button, I'm not sure how well it would work.
