Erm... there's no trickery. It's just true motion blur. Videos don't hide the trickery or flaws. You can look at screenshots and everything looks 100% natural.

If you want exaggerated motion blur, see Crysis:

Looks more like the tree was being shot out of a cannon, rather than slowly tipping down, doesn't it? It's also a buzzkill to static background objects being smeared. Also, look at the edge of the gun- a common flaw in most games' motion blur, which Killzone 2 doesn't suffer from because it doesn't rely on cheats.

Cell processor, perhaps? I don't know how KZ2 does it. I can assure you that you are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it true.

This kind of thing needs to stop now before it turns into something nobody really wants to get into.

Wow, playing the game without the HUD is a completely different experience; however, I would like the ability to turn on weapon and action prompts. And please give me the ability to toggle crouch in SP! I know you're not supposed to just stick to the same piece of cover the whole time, but I don't want to press L2/L1 at the same time if I want to use L1 to zoom. I'm already getting used to the standard controls but it would be nice as an option.

Other than that, I'm loving it. Visually arresting, sounds unfuckingbelievable, and the feel of the guns really works. Bravo GG! Day fucking one!

yeah, im way to used to COD 4. The controls took a few plays to get used to, but I was able to pull off some nice quick headshots!!

Everything about this game is amazing...I do wish the max turn speed was turned up a few notches, but Ill adjust.

I have an extra Gamestop demo code, in case there's anyone out there who refuses to create a European account for some reason. I'll send it to the first person who quotes this post.

Killzone 2's blur, on the other hand, takes no such shortcuts.

:lol :lol :lol

No man, at least to me it's how you implied that the Cell has magic motion blur powers while its flagship game can't even run any higher than 1280 x 720.

caveat: not knocking KZ2's graphics, they are the best of any game I've played so far in my eyes.

I'm just wondering did anyone else witness this happen?....at the dam one of the helghast began to push forward faster than the rest of his buddies and just as he got to one of the ISA behind cover to melee him, one of his helghast buddies on turret shooting at someone further back took his head clean off by accident. LOL i didn't even know they had friendly fire as well:lol

Lost count how many times ive played the demo now, it's so much fun every single time. Love it.

The final game could be something mighty special for me.

There is one thing I have to say after playing the demo....

Ahem...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It can be upscaled to 1080p, so it can be rendered in 960*1080 at the very least.

All this control talk has got me worried.

For those out there who have suffered through the horror of Perfect Dark Zero controls (which were slow and unresponsive and ugh), please, please for the love of Mephistopheles tell me how KZ2 compares?

I can't fucking wait, day zero. Except a very few minor gripes (actually, I can only think of one, the sticking to cover part), this is the best FPS I've ever played.

Welcome to the club mate

Oh, I'm sure some other piece of hardware could do the motion blur- it's just that I think the way the processor is networked could be what allows the game to handle so much AND near-cg-quality motion blur all at 30fps. I mean, what other logical explanation is there? The GPU? The video ram? Gnomes? Fairies?

KZ2's controls are a million times better. Honestly I have more of a problem with some of the control placements rather than stuff like sensitivity and the like.

I've spent a full hour shooting canisters and such in the warehouse, at one point I shot one of the gas canisters that were lying in the floor in its base and the gas scape made the canister stand vertically and sort of dance around slowly in such a freaking and realistic way that I had to power off my PS3, get in here, talk about it and say good night.

good night

No, I'm sure the Cell is essential to the motion blur. What I was pointing out was your implicit claim that if it's not in Crysis, then modern day PCs can't do something a processor released in 2006 can.

To be honest, I'd heard so much negativity surrounding KZ2's controls and weighty feel before playing the demo that I was very surprised by how smooth and responsive it felt.

Ohhhhhh lord, I wasnt going to do this...I wasnt going to dl the demo....FUUUUUCKKKKKK.

F
uck My Life

I am really glad to hear all these positive impressions, most notably about the AI. I still wish there was no demo, I mean which games have truly benefited from a demo? If only there was a way to go back in time so you can compare sales with and without a demo.
and stop wars and shit...I guess

Finished my rounds with the demo for now. Very nice to see on my tv right in front of me. Audio = good gawd!

Controls feel SLIGHTLY looser than the beta did but not an issue for me.

Tested it out with the FragFX controller, which I completely forgot that I had when I was beta testing...that shit works so well with KZ2. :lol Feb. 27th come now!

Ok seriously, where is the demo? I received a code from a generous poster, but I don't know where to use it! The US store does not have Killzone in the demo section.

Go to account management, then redeem codes. Put the code in there.

So I have to ask, now that you guys played this multiple times, what visual style do you guys like better, the current or this

Wouldn't mind some Uncharted styled unlocks, one which would drain the color to look like the E307 vid.

Alright so I was bored and decided to see whether you can kill your buddy at the warehouse. Well turns out you can't, BUT you can down him. This one time I did it, he fell down in quite a humorous fashion:

It was better in motion because he was squirming and screaming at me to help him up. Ouch. :lol

The current one is much better. That style makes me wonder what the people complaining that the Killzone 2 demo has too much grey would say.

You can thank us naysayers for reducing your expectations :D

Apologies, as that was not my intention at all :D It was rather an inquiry into how the PS3 with its weak graphics hardware can produce what it does. As far as the motion blur goes, yes it's every bit superior to what I've seen Crysis do. But I'm sure if Crysis were intended to be run in 1280x720 and 30fps, a recommended spec PC would be able to out-Killzone Killzone any day.

The current build. If you let the demo sit at the start screen you'll get a video of the Heavy in that video you posted and it looks much better.

You can kill all your friends beside Rico and the big white trash guy, they can only lay down suffering, till they rise up again...

Lies. KZ2's controls feel about as good to me as any other console shooter, honestly, or better even. I've always been more comfortable with slower-paced console shooters (Gears, R6V, and now KZ2), since I'm so used to and would much rather play quicker shooters with a mouse and keyboard.

My only problem with the demo was the length, I wanted it to keep going. I love the feel of momentum, I actually fell like I'm a physical object in the game. I only rented Resistance 2 and I hated the way the movement felt, I thought I was sliding on ice. The surround sound is pretty awesome too, hearing helicopters and firefights going on behind you makes it feel all the more immersive. It's going to be a long 22 days, thank god for Street Fighter and Lost and the Damned.

you rarely see me in FPS threads,
I am buying KZ2! loved the demo :P

I think the heaviness gives your character gives him more believability instead of being some floaty Unreal alien thingy

sound effects!! sounds like machine guns and not ray-guns = awesome

Just played the demo. I don't see the point of a cover system. What's wrong with crouching and strafing for cover? It just seems like something to put next to a bullet point. Other than that I thought it was good. Very pretty and lots of stuff going on. It felt good to shoot things, which is pretty much all I ask from a shooter most the time. I'll probably play it again with different control settings, I didn't like where zoom and crouch was. I'm someone who didn't fall into the hype for this game, and the demo didn't do anything to hook me. It gave me the same feeling the FEAR 2 demo did in that it seems fun but there's nothing that makes me want to buy it right away.
