Wow at those gifs! I've been in the haters side of Killzone 2, nothing I've seen so far made me want this game, but those gifs are pretty! I'll be paying a little closer attention.

Too bad this isn't coming out in November, PS3 could really use it I think (if it turns out to be good).

I disagree, next year is a better placement. At the moment there is a fair bit to play. I don't want to say something that's going to get to heavily ripped apart. But next year Sony has a lot of great first/second party titles spread over next year, and overall, it's going to help Sony to have a really strong year next year, than slip it in the end of this year and not have the momentum build over 2009.

I'm not saying, 2009, the year of the PS3. But 2009 will certainly be one of Sony's best years in-terms of first party releases, maybe ever.

The single player campaign certainly is impressive. Come December 4 you guys are going to drown in your own drool (or whatever).

There'll probably be drooling, but not from people's mouths.

Sometimes it's better to have "the last word".

This quarter is highly competitive in terms of console shooters. It may work out well for them releasing KZ2 all by itself next year as the big FPS title for 2009.

Well it's not like early next year isn't competitive for shooters. Fear 2 is the same month. RAGE is a little later. They're both going to be really big. But ultimately, I think it's a good time to release, I think it'll continue to drip sales from word of mouth over the year.

Both of those titles aren't in the same league as even Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2 or Call of Duty: WoW, though.

It's not that, I just didn't want to imply PS3 is going to 'win', I think next year both HD consoles will sell around the same amount. At the moment the 360 doesn't have much coming up for me, but I know Microsoft don't announce things years ahead anymore. There will be a ton of great games from both first parties.

how are they a sitting duck? I just love the message "icechai killed ___" if you know what I mean :)

If they're reviving someone then they can't shoot at you. So you can just swing around a corner and shoot them in the head (or just unload some bullets into them) and then take out the person they were reviving. It's a nice way to get 2 easy kills. That's why the best medics wait until the area is either clear or defended enough so that neither person will take any damage.

Being out of MP made me sick and now this , DAMMIT!!!

Btw , isnt this a bit early for a game that comes out Feb ?

So, for some perspective, what did you think of Half-Life 2 and BioShock?

They're just polishing and optimizing at the moment, the basic game has been finished for a while. Sony are just letting them tweak.

don't know if this true or not, but I've heard that the single player campaign is pretty much done and that the game is actually ready if they want to release it this year, it's just marketing decision that delay the game to early 2009

KZ2 will obviously be the "shooter to beat" and "king of console FPS" when it launches, but please, quit comparing it to other console shooters. It's just not a fair comparison.

KZ2 has been in development for over twice as long as most other "top shooters" and it's Sony's flagship baby. There's just no way you can compare this game to other games that has much less production budget, time, and development team size.

Twice as long compared to what? Its development will be roughly 3.5 years or so once it releases with a team of 130 people. That's pretty similar to Halo 3's 120 person team and 3 years development time.

Big projects like this have existed before on consoles, it's not as though KZ2 is much different.

There is a hell of a lot more than 120 people working on KZ2. GG, Sony SM, Sony Cambridge and a ton of others have been contributing.

But I still think it's fair to compare it to any other shooter. I don't see why people shouldn't.

And Microsoft didn't have other internal teams help Bungie out?

I think that's largely because the person playing never zooms in, which is much less accurate.

this is what I was wondering. In most of the videos no one is using the sights. So is it a lot more effective to zoom?

The one thing that I don't like is holding down the left analog to sprint. It feels so freaking uncomfortable. It was annoying enough in the COD:WaW beta and it's even more annoying here with the PS3 pad.

Yeah, I was about to post the same thing. The dev wasn't very different from Halo 3.

Sights affect your peripheral vision and your movement/turn speed. I use sights to bore in on a target I have the time and space to take out. First few shots in an ambush or engagement at mid to long distance, for sure.

When you run around the corner right into the middle of a hairy clusterfuck, though, it's best not to use sights so that you can engage one target and move to the next quickly.

3.5 years? when the CG trailer came, KZ2 wasnt in dev. It should be 3 years max.

You don't have to - push up, click it once and you will keep sprinting until you let go of the stick.

It still seems kinda nuts not to have coop, even if it gets added later. You don't have to be clairvoyant to see that it's going to be something picked up on when the final impressions/reviews roll in. Considering how much Sony and GG have riding on this you'd think they'd pull out all the stops to have all their bases covered.

EnthusiasTech said:

It was a rumor that popped up because KZ2 was originally planned for this year and then it was delayed. So someone started a rumor that it was delayed because of R2. I haven't seen any proof of it. But even if there is some truth to it, no game is going to be hurt by having extra time for the developer to polish the experience.

That and tweaking and balancing the MP (And polishing the hell of it)

Development started after Liberation went gold. They didn't just sit around waiting to start the next project.

And yes, it's true Sony are sitting on it basically complete, the delay was strategic, not because of development.

They want to have a solid fundation and then add the co-op.

A lot of time (longer then normal it was said) was spent prototyping various approaches to KZ2 before they started full on production.

Holding it down? It toggles on/off

just press it once

The biggest FPS of this generation (CoD4) doesn't even have co-op. It's not a staple of the genre yet.
