I think this is what Garnett is talking about when he says that he would like it to control like COD 4. The default sensitivity is a bit tighter, especially if you're coming from COD 4...

I never really played much of CoD4's multiplayer mode (although I completed the single player mode), it just didn't appeal to me. Although to be fair, I haven't liked a multiplayer mode in a FPS since GE. :P Anyway, I started off playing KZ2 on its default settings and then decided to test it out with everything turned up and it feels like a completely different game (in a good way). No way I could go back to the default settings.

Kittonwy that is one of my peeves in games and from these videos and confirmed by you it looks like they nailed it in this game. I think your right too in that it adds a lot to the maps. Being able to jump over ledges from above just adds another level in most situations.

Can't wait to see more.

I like how the anger in the melee attacks increase as you do them consecutively. From a swipe bash with the gun, to a ferocious gun butt bash over and over again. So beautiful.

Great to see all the KZ2 love. Since I got in the beta I've totally neglected SOCOM and R2. And it isnt that I dont enjoy SOCOM or R2 as they are both fun its just that KZ2 is just in another league. In fact I have SOCOM, R2, LBP, Gears 2 and Valkyria Chronicles and which game do you think is getting the majority of my time these days?

You guessed it. The 3 map KZ2 multiplayer beta.
Same here.

...except I don't have Socom. :lol

Not that this matters just curious, are there any going to be any levels with vehicles at all in the final version? Just curious, this makes no difference to how awsome the game is, just wondering because I know there's tanks and stuff in the single player, I think a jeep would with a manned turret in the back would be awsome for some larger maps.

It'd be cool to have a jeep in the multiplayer. It doesn't have to be like Halo but it just be fun and fast and have a turret. It wouldn't change the game.

Where is that Garnett quote from "who had Killzone2 last night?"

1upyours. Was referring to a Sony event the other night where they showed off KZ2. Didn't mention whether he played it personally or not.

They did mention they've got the preview build tho, same with IGN. Everyone has it now. Gonna be a ton of content come Dec 4th.

Yup just saw that, awsome :D

Think that will be in multiplayer as well? Are there any maps in multiplayer that would be big enough for that?

The only one in the beta that a vehicle would work on is Salamun Market. The other levels are much too confined.

With the spawn system, I really don't see vehicles as being necessary for most modes.

anybody else played power_rangers_ yet? :lol

that guy is a fucking nut job, nothing but "you suck" "i'm going to kill you all" "i'm going to slap you until you bleed" constantly down the mic for nearly an hour.

Cerberus said:
Yeah, I have problems with R3/L3 too. Some people in this thread have said you only need to push down once on L3 to sprint so I'm glad to hear that. Is R3 used for melee attack?

You can change to a different layout. I have it set to triangle as this is where it usually is for me in these types of games, and you are going to want to be able to use melee multiple times in quick succession as this is how it is most successful (no single hit, lunge melee bullshit for this game).

I think if they add vehicles to multiplayer they'll create specific "vehicle maps" for them and you wont be able to use them in the normal ones. Just wouldn't work.

But other than a tank and some really rugged transport vehicles are we really expecting more vehicles? This isn't Halo where a wraith, ghost, or warthog fit into the lore. This game and its' setting/lore seems very much about fighting between infantry. I mean, look at the ISA drop ship . . . given that type of construction can you really picture a warthog or mongoose type vehicle?

I'd love to see a dropship in a huge map, just because of how amazing looking it is in motion

The maps would have to be even larger with a jeep, then things would go all warhawk with people suggesting flying vehicles since we got pets that can fly. I like foot solders for everyone. I don't see the appeal of vehicles in this type of game. Warhawk, yes, Killzone, resistance, etc. eh.

There's no concievable way vehicles would work in Salamun. Personally I don't see vehicles making it to multiplayer.

Yeah I know, I know looks like crap , I like to see something like this coverart ;

Never used a gfx program b4 , just a lil photoshop , did this with GIMP ... It really sux , especially when it comes to background removing ...

It's open enough so that you could drive a vehicle around. It probably wouldn't be such a good idea since it's not a completely open area, but you could get it to work if you wanted to.

What's with the Dec 4th Embargo? Seems odd to have one 2 months before launch.

Is the sniper guy someone special, or is he just another helghast class? Because that sure is a prominent spot for a full-body image.:lol

I like it how it is. You get the eyes of the enemy staring you down with the heroes front and center. Case design 101.

Unless the vehicle they plan on adding to multiplayer is a Segway, leave vehicles out

The vehicles in the campaign of KZL were awesome and a ton of fun (especially the buggy), but let's keep them to the campaign

Have they fucking played any other shooter? Like Gears 2? Like COD4? Why the fuck are they even complaining about "moveable vehicles"? I'll fucking "moveable vehicles" their asses.

"Moveable objects" as well. Like the wheel chairs in Gears 2 that you slam into for cover, but they don't move lol.

I love the press. I get as many laughs from their reviews and other articles as in comedies on TV or the silver screen. Good stuff. I'm glad they're already laying down the framework to plant this game under the 10 mark already, in fact, the lack of moveable objects/vehicles is grounds for probably a full point off alone.

This game is going to get SO unfairly and unjustly picked apart, more than any game ever before. I can't wait for the Gamespot, Edge, Eurogamer, and 1up's reviews on this game. GS and 1up has laid down some impressive troll-flooring already, and the other two are always an interesting read for PS3 titles. Poor game doesn't have a chance being in that genre so it infringes on the others turf, and of course, that it's on the PS3, and it's still labeled as "The Halo Killer" to people. LOL.

Its not even funny anymore. fucking sickening. IF they rate this low because of some BS that they let other less worthy shooters pass then 'there will be blood'

If? It's a god damn certainty. Wasn't it Garnett that was complaining about the respawning in single player right after comparing it to COD4. Shawn called him out on it and he went off on some tangent. I don't know if it's as bad as I haven't had the chance to play KZ2 at all but that shit was ridiculously awful in COD4. For some reason it was ignored in reviews. I fully expect KZ2 to be criticized for things that are otherwise ignored in non PS3 exclusives. Good thing I don't normally read reviews though unless pointed to from gaf. These sites are good for nothing but watching media.

sometimes, I feel that the press is there to just find something to criticize. if the game is really good, then they'll push back harder by nitpicking even the smallest thing. if the game is just good, then they'll be more lenient on their critic

it's like they feel that they're payed for critiquing games, so when a game that's almost perfect appear, they feel they need to find something about it because that's what they're paid for, so their nitpick become absurd when compared to other games

don't know if that make sense

I don't get the insane standard Killzone 2 is being judged by when NO OTHER GAME has EVER been judged by that kind of standard. How would they judge the visuals in Killzone 2 MP when half of these AAA games' SINGLE PLAYER MODE these sites have been hyping didn't even have proper shadows or breakable environment, that Killzone 2 MP has in BETA FORM? Even in BETA form it has better weapon balance, aiming (ironsight + hip shooting balance and feel) and movement (walking and sprinting feels TOTALLY RIGHT), not to mention FREEDOM of movement, than just about every AAA console shooter on the market, not to mention they NAILED the five objective modes in a way that R2 skirmish failed to do, every objective mode somehow they made it fun, even search and retrieve was FUCKING GENUINELY FUN, when capture the flag most of the time is basically a SHIT experience in any other game (core control I'm looking at YOU).

Never really said he was good. Its just a lot better footage than what they put up before. Still I haven't seen any video where they use sights a lot. Plus people in here have said its not really like CoD4 where its almost necessary every time.

\/\/ I did notice that.

"Hiding" isn't really an option in this game, there are no guaranteed safe havens. One of the game types is Assassination where you take out a specific person, and once you're the target you quickly realize the levels were all made specifically so that you couldn't just hide in a corner for 60 seconds and win, you are never ever in a spot where you feel completely safe and secluded

One thing I've found is that one can always be flanked in the game, the maps are so fucking well designed.

Indeed. It's really obvious that they have spent soooooooooo much time working on and polishing and tweaking and balancing and adding detail to all these levels.

Which brings up an interesting conundrum: Their work has obviously paid off, but it's taken a ridiculous amount of time and money to get to this point. So if you're a publisher, do you take the risk of investing this much time and money into a product, having it turn out quadruple-A, and hoping the public catches onto it like they did with something like CoD4? Or do you stick to a rigid and ultimately restrictive time table, compromise the overall quality of the game, but stand to make your money back easier?

I know what we as gamers would like to see but I'm interested to see what happens with this game at retail just because I want to see it set a precedent

I think it's also a matter of whether you think your game will actually be AAAA if you invest that amount of time and money. It was obvious GG had some great ideas, as shown through KZ and KZL, and Sony knew that with their resources (other Sony teams, etc.) that they could help GG to make this a truly outstanding title. Other companies don't have these means, and no amount of time and money could save some games (Too Human).

It's basically a matter of, should I invest all this money and end up with a game that's only pretty good? Or worse?

Garnett is just talking out of his ass most of the time as usual. I think he does it for the lulz. This May he was also talking about how KZ2's graphics weren't good and didn't have enough color (:lol )

Anyway, I fully believe Garnett will have a 100% change of tune (it's already happening now with his most recent impressions). He also changed his tune on Resistance 2, originally said it was the more 'known' quality than Killzone 2, then he came back after playing it and had negative comments. I think Garnett's KZ2 skepticism is going to lead to him being blown away.

The game is going to be held up under intense scrutiny; far more than any other game. I t's a bit ridiculous what it's going to endure just because it doesn't play identically to Halo 3 with "moveable vehicles" and "4 player co-op", not taking into account the fact that, HEY, moveable vehicles may not work in Killzone 2's phenomenal multiplayer, or hey, developing for 4 player co-op mode may have seriously cheapened the single player experience which has resulted in a MUCH BETTER overall campaign than any console shooter this gen.

The funniest thing of all will be the reviewers that try and downplay the graphics in some way.

Still, I'm holding out hope that the press isn't completely crooked and hypocritical when it comes to KZ2's reviews.

Sony maybe invested too much money into KZ2 if you look this project as just a game ... But I think it is more than that for Sony ... We'll see a lot of tech from KZ2 at Sony's upcoming exclusives in my opinion ... This will result better exclusives which means more PS3 sales ...

Maybe KZ2 will not effect PS3 sales as much as expected but the tech behind it will make it happen ultimately ...

I don't think we will see Killzone quality titles from third party publishers anytime soon. CoD4 sold tons, but they want to maximize profits and if CoD:WaW does decently, they will continue the trend of the staggered release. Expect another infinity ward title next year, but it won't be the leap that Killzone 2 is.

The reason Killzone 2 has had so much investment pumped into it is because this is the title that Sony needs that it doesn't have: a truly killer app exclusive shooter. Sony needs their own Halo, and it looks like they finally got it right with Killzone 2. This is a title that will elevate the hardcore shooter fanbase and community on the PS3 and push systems.

Luckily a lot of the investment that Sony has put into GG will pay dividends in future iterations of the series, which should not take nearly as long to develop. I certainly hope they are already well into the design phase of the next Killzone on the PS3.

Yeah - these people generally hold the shoot button which is bad. You need to just click it really quickly.

Anyone know what the Fist means on the score screen? I had it next to my name, it was red and had 1 in it.
