The immersion in this game is one of its highest value points.

The answer is hard to give and really is a matter of opinion, but you need to realize something crucially important: both games have their own distinct art style and were designed on different platforms.
So, for instance, some people might point to the lush vegetation and wide opens areas in Crysis and state that as a strong point.
Some other people might not really see that as deal breaker since the games aren't going for the same end result. They might say the differed rendering and lighting in Killzone surpass Crysis' look.
Again, it is up to interpretation. Both games have strong and weak points. Both are two of the best looking games in existence, and will blow you away.
Hope that helps.

QUESTION BETA TESTERS!.... you guys playing the beta, be honest... does it beat Crysis Dx10 on a high end pc? From the looks of just this animated GIF ...it does although im not in the beta to really know.
I have a very high end pc.. Crysis does look incredible but even Gears of War 2 gives Crysis a run for its money... and again, this GIF above does as well from the looks of it

jett said:Not really, the ones you can destroy are the ones placed in front of turrets in Salamun Market, if you're using a rocket launcher/grenade the turret will most likely get destroyed along with the bags anyway. The more sandbag-packed covers are indestructible.

bish, what do you think of the game? Last I saw you were having connection problems (and apparently are having them again nowbishoptl said:Network's down :|

Some smart decision making on what to scale back in order to push the envelope forward in other areas - and some of the most cohesive art direction I've ever seen in a shooter.

Crysis' tech is unmatched on the PC.
Killzone's tech and SPU management on the PS3 are unmatched.
Oh yeah, this thread's about to explode.

Just wait. I'm writing some lengthy impressions for a website that should be going up over the next 1-2 days.Snipes424 said:Man.. that is just bad. I see more and more of either a)flat out lies or b) uninformed people talking about games they have never played. For example on the 1up podcast where "big fun" was saying that all the enemies ignore your buddies and just attack you in Resistance 2. I proved this to be wrong by watching enemies attack my squad mates while I just sat there. And then in another podcast (it actually might of been 1up yours), they were saying in Little big planet, there is no way to lock a level, which is not true, there is a big ass option that says "locked."
I hate to sound down on the 1up people, because I do actually like them and it's obviously not just them making these mistakes, but it does irritate me when these "professionals" say things that are obviously not true.

even after playing it I still don't believe it. Maybe the last FW update also downloaded some more RAM for the PS3UntoldDreams said:Killzone 2 throws quite a lot of physical geometry around on screen. I wouldn't have believed it was possible on a console with limited RAM until I saw it in action.
I'm still not sure how they do it when all other console FPS games clearly have a ceiling which limits their environment geometry.

Tell 'em like it is.Kittonwy said:Gears of War 2 does NOT give Killzone 2 a run for its money either, because it can't even do fucking proper shadows (outside of characters and very few objects) in MP WITH FEWER PLAYERS, SMALLER MAPS, AND LESS INTERACTIVITY, technically it's not even in the same league, heck it doesn't even do proper shadows in SINGLE PLAYER.

Now now, I've used rifles more than twice as long as Missile Weapons, and now play the majority of the time with teh Sniper. And as Jett will tell you I'm pretty awesome!Last Beta I tried to "master" the Rifles and Shotgun, this Beta it's been Missiles and Sniper.
In fact I had my best moment in an online game EVER with the Rocket Launcher... let me tell you a little story...
It was a "Warzone" game on Radec Academy, 24 players, perfect amount. The game was close the whole time, I was playing with a shotgun as the Engineer class and was struggling, well, not having my best game. But my team was even worse I was surprised it was pretty equal so far as the other team seemed pretty competent. But it was the last round, the decider, and we had to plant charges on a Seek and Destroy match, we were Helghast fighting the invading ISA scum.
It was a real war of attrition for almost four minutes, most of my team didn't seem interested so we just had to wear them down slowly throughout the round. Eventually we managed to push them back and plant 2 charges! I didn't think we'd last long after that and I was right the 3 of us that were left fighting for it got killed pretty quickly. I didn't want to give up tho, it's the Helghast blood in my veins! So I quickly switched to Assault class so I could boost over there as fast as I could and at the very least blow them to pieces before the end of the game. I killed some guy on the way so I only had two rockets by the time I got back to the room where we placed the charges. Luckily some of my team had kept them from diffusing the bombs, but as I got there our last man fell, and the bombs began to be diffused...
It was all down to me and my Rocket Launcher. I strafed past the door and fired a rocket at where the charges were set... BAM! 4 KILLS with one shot! Not only were there two guys diffusing, there were two guys guarding them standing right there! mwaha! And the "chirp" sound quadruples when you get that, incredibly satisfying. But it wasn't over there I still had like 30-40 seconds to defend these charges and it was just me and one rocket, so I wait... there's silence at first, not a sound. It feels like I waited for an eternity, but it was only 5 seconds. Then through the broken wall came two ISA, I fired quickly and BAM direct hit.... 4 KILLS! There were two coming up behind them as well. Couldn't believe it! But I didn't have time to bask in my own awesomenous, I had a battle to win!
So I drop my blessed Rocket Launcher and picked up the nearest assault rifle. I looked at the hole in the wall and noticed, I was blind! The dust and smoke from the rockets completely covered the entrance. I couldn't see whether ISA troops were coming so I thought "fuck it" I started shooting wildly through the smoke, nothing at first but after a few seconds, *chirp!* one kill! I kept firing, I was almost out of ammo... *chirp* headshot! Another kill! Out of ammo, I desperately ran around looking for a weapon, and eventually found a shotgun near the entrance, now they were coming through, I lobbed a grenade but I threw it too far, it missed them, but it did kill two guys behind them. At that point I just started firing the shotgun in panic but I was missing, I was done... until a team mate finally showed up and picked off a couple of guys I softened up, but I only had a slither of health left and I was finally finished. I had fallen, as did my teammate. With only about 6 seconds left.. I was gutted. All that was left was for them to diffuse the charges.
I spawned quickly and waited for them to diffuse them at the last second but no. The charges blew, a couple of them died in the blast. And we won. I got a 12 kill streak and felt like a god. Best moment ever. I curse myself for not having capture equipment to record, and I pray the final game will have video capture.
Best online shooter ever.
oh and
You dirty team killer![]()

But Killzone 2 doesn't have anything like the same texture resolution as Gears 2. Ergo, Gears 2 looks better.Kittonwy said:Gears of War 2 does NOT give Killzone 2 a run for its money either, because it can't even do fucking proper shadows (outside of characters and very few objects) in MP WITH FEWER PLAYERS, SMALLER MAPS, AND LESS INTERACTIVITY, technically it's not even in the same league, heck it doesn't even do proper shadows in SINGLE PLAYER.
