It's a knife, the magazine's editor-in-chief confirmed it.

People in the beta are sorta shackled by NDA. You know there's this whole beta forum, right? What makes you think people didn't think about your questions beforehand? What makes you think the questions aren't answered just by playing the beta?My Arms Your Hearse said:Well, the impressions are reassuring. It does seem the maps are designed in a way that snipers can't truly dominate them (but we'll see come release). At least the three that are playable in the beta.
I don't know why everyone is taking such great offense at my posts... I'm just asking/thinking about potential problems. People in the beta should have been doing the same this entire time.

Quit making it out like you're the only one who ever came up with these questions.
Look - people who have been playing the beta know exactly how vulnerable a sniper is. I fucking die all the time as a sniper because I'm not good at yet. It takes some really good skill to pull off sniper shots on moving targets while protecting your flanks. That's what is truly phenomenal about the level design in this beta - there is no place... NO PLACE where you can feel safe. There's a constant level of nervousness and paranoia.
All you're doing is coming off as a troll and that is why people keep calling you on it.

That looks weird and non-killzonish. Actually it looks like it belongs in Resistance, looks kinda ugly design-wise.
My Arms Your Hearse said:I don't think I'm the only person who has ever come up with them. But I'm pretty much the only one asking IN THIS THREAD.
The starndard response of beta people in this thread to any query (positive or negative): OMG GAME SO AWESOME I'M PLAYING YOU'RE NOT.

Secondly are headshots with the AR 1hit kill or do they just do 2x/3x/5x damage? Or how many headshots does it take to kill someone with the ISA and HGA refiles respectively.

That's not true, you just got a few detailed responses to why they don't think theres a problem with your musings. Give them a read.
But to answer a couple of your previous questions on how the abilities work. The spot & mark ability works by marking enemies in your field of view. Sometimes it marks people just outside your field of view, sometimes enemies you can see don't get marked because they're outside a certain distance. The distance is pretty far tho. And no you cant mark people who are concealed. When you mark a saboteur it doesn't reveal him it just marks him like any other enemy, but he still has the look of your team and a friendly's name over his head.
When you're sniping you aren't looking at your own people so you usually mark a saboteur when he's around other enemies and allies. But he should be the priority. I love taking out people in disguise!
Every class in this game has a counter and the Saboteurs counter is the spot & mark skill. But it isn't perfect or overpowered.
I agree with the fact that arm/leg shots shouldn't be one hit kills and I don't think they will be in the final game. Yes this complaint has been brought up along with pretty much any other complaint someone can think of. The Beta testers have done a great job in giving feedback, and Guerrilla a great job in taking it all on board.
Finally, when you're a sniper, you really get to analyse the maps, and it's not hyperbole when I say they are amazingly designed. Every sniping position has a blind spot which appears to have been deliberately put there. Every place appears to have been thought about with positives and negatives and every sniping position can be countered. The best sniping positions give you I wide scope of a portion of the map but there are places to counter it out of sight of the sniper. There is always a place to outflank him as well. And as kittonwy said when looking down the scope you can pretty much only see the guy who's you're looking at, you're very vulnerable as a sniper. You have to be smart and careful and always keep an eye on your surroundings, or you will die a lot.
the menu seems simple enogh for me, but I don't think the mini map is all that well donePrivate Hoffman said:I wish there was an easier way to switch classes during the game. I'd also like you to be able to save certain class combinations for easy access.
The menu system just is a bit too much of a hassle.
I don't like the delay when you die and go to the menu. I quite often am mashing the button to go to the menu and then make myself jump into the game when I just wanted to adjust my class.Private Hoffman said:I wish there was an easier way to switch classes during the game. My Arms Your Hearse said:That's the entire point of a BETA.
That right there is some good shit. Well said, heh.Crayon said:no the point of a beta is for people to play it and then give you feedback.
not for people to breach nda so the peanut gallery can throw game design pointers from the back row.

Btw, could you confirm whether or not those marks show up for your allies as well? I'm not totally sure they do cos I've never seen them when not using that ability myself.

TTP said:7. The Saboteur takes the name of a random ally, but not his rank (which is shown alongside each name). So if you see your noob friend suddenly showing up as General, shoot him.
FFObsessed said:Some advice for people who hate Saboteurs, I have no problem with them personally as sniper or another class.
1. They don't appear on your radar as a friendly, I always check my radar when there is a ally near me.
2. They take the name of someone on your team so if you see two guys with the same name go past, one's a saboteur.
3. The name they take changes now and again, if you spot it shoot him.
4. Every so often the name will flash red and reveal his real name.
5. Your cursor will turn red when placed on them.
6. Most obvious one. Behaviour. If a guy running along side you suddenly stops and goes behind you, turn around and check. I catch a lot like this. If a guy is running full speed a way from the enemies base for no objective reason. I spot quite a few just by catching them acting unusual, I've even sniped a few across the map just because they looks suspicious. And I'm usually right... usually.
That's the genius of the Saboteur class and of the game in general, every new skill/class that people unlock changes the dimensions of the game, they keep you on your toes every time something new comes along. Bots, Turrets, Air Drones, Spawn Grenades, they all make you pay close attention to your local environment and change the way games play... but then along comes the Saboteur. You no longer just have to watch your environment, you have to watch your allies.
Finally tho the sniper, makes you pay attention to the distant environment, so many times I've thought, "shit was that a cloaked scout up there!?!?! No, it was just some debris floating in the wind... *phew* Oh SHIT! *sniped in the head*
This game has you on edge all the time. It's unrelenting in a big game. It's just one big adrenaline rush.
