Well guys looks like my PS3 got killzowned :( (it froze during 6th playthru of kz demo). The video output displays garbage after few minutes of startup. I thought it got fixed when it started ok in the morning but screen freezes after few minutes every time now. I tried to reset video output and all but nothing worked. My warranty has expired too :(. Anyways I contacted Sony service and they asked me to send it in. Hope I get it back before 27th.

How I miss playing the demo :(

Yes, yes it is.

To anyone with the promo code: do you have to finish it on Veteran to unlock Elite or any difficulty level will do?

The eblamestop demo has more than one difficulty?

Good thing I redeemed that code then (even though I just downloaded the Euro demo instead first :lol).

When I had the triple upstairs connected to the same CRT, I had no such issues. I had to calibrate the gamma settings using the in-game option but I had no problem adjusting the settings properly. I had my set ISF'd by Greg Loewen w/ LionAV. Dude is awesome. Do you have your set adjusted for blacker than black?
I ave a similar TV set and the blacks look awesome. I actually can't imagine playing this game on an LCD, everything would get lost with the crushed blacks.

Hope the plasma I'm getting is ok. The CRT hath spoiled me.

Couple of people have a promo copy of the full game, gamestop demo is the same as the european one.

About the AI, based on my experience with the game....

There are different basic behaviors applied to the AI depending on what a given level or situation is set up for. There are situations where the AI soldiers are tossed into the environment without any constrains. They charge, retreat, follow the player, whatever. I'd call this Free AI.

Then there are situations where the AI is instructed to hold a given position. In those cases AI doesn't chase the player. Of course it does still move around to avoid being shot but doesn't try to get to you. I'd call this Defensive AI.

And then there are situations where AI is instructed to charge the player. I'd call this Charging AI (how inventive I am).

Usually game mixes these different AI behaviors, putting some Higs on Defensive mode, others on Charging mode and other on Free mode. Obviously different enemy types have different behaviors themselves (those knife equipped Hig will usually attempt to quickly get close to you for example).

So don't expect the AI to behave exactly the same throughout the game. It's tailored to create specific situations for the player to overcome. If you have to conquer a location, don't expect to be able to lure the AI out. If you have to defend, expect higher aggression levels. And so on.

On this note, keep in mind that the AI systems, both friendly and enemy, actually react to your particular play style. (I can't remember which developer interview this was brought to light, but it's true.) This means that, if the AI detects a pattern in your play, it will throw different behaviors at you. Players who charge in to the fray a lot will be recognized by the AI, and your allies might ask you to take it easy, advise you to use cover more, ect. while the enemy tries to counter that style. Players which lay about in cover a lot and are too tentative will be prodded by the friendly AI to get off their asses and get into the fight, while the enemy adjusts to counter that style.

The AI, both friendly and enemy, will also recognize your skill, so that's cool too.

There's a lot gong on in this system, it seems. It'll be nice to approach different levels by playing differently, and getting a different experience from the AI in return.

Ah, yes that is the correct. Oh right, I haven't finished downloading the gamestop demo but what English does it use? American or British?

I want metre and not meter. :lol

Aw sucks man, I feel your pain! Best of luck with getting yours back soon. Mine broke about 2 weeks ago, my new 60gb should be arriving tomorrow if all goes to plan! I still haven't played the KZ2 or anything...I feel like I've missed out so much! Can't wait :D

He mentions some of the things TTP talked about, too.

Just get a good LCD and you don't have a problem with crushed blacks. On my Sony W4000 black level is very good and so is the grey differentiation.

been playing the demo yesterday and today... it's good, but it's not great

It's like less than 1/50 of the game. I'm not sure what you were expecting. I'd be shocked if that isn't one of the worse sections in the whole game.

It's Mike Works. He likes to just stir shit up just like all the other anti-Sony fanboys that pop into the thread and snipe.

The control complaints I'm not sure I understand...

In order to legitimately complain about the controls, you need to only own a 360 and only be able to play the KZ2 demo on the PS3 that belongs to your friend, whom you have been talking shit to on a daily basis since the day he said he thought he might buy one.

Is there a developers interview that talks about their AI behaviors anywhere (video or written)?
I love hearing about AI, and while I appreciate people's attempts at defining what's happening here(charging, defensive, aggressive, etc.).. I'd much rather just hear it from the AI developers of the game themselves. I feel like the helghast are using squad tactics and coordinating their attacks.. but it could be just a product of really solid independent AI routines... I'm not sure at all.

Dude, shut the fuck up.
This isn't going to make those types stop anymore than it does to sum up everyone with these specific complaints.

i'm commenting on the game's control/gameplay, not the length of the demo. i actually don't mind short demos at all.

i said a small part of me wanted it to be bad so the fanatical killzone fans who were complaining that a 9/10 review from the official playstation magazine wasn't good enough because (that magazine) should tow the company line and give it perfect no matter what and the reviewer should be fired... for giving it 9/10... would get pissed off.

am i anti-Sony too? all i play is my ps3. i don't even own an xbox.

Schrade said:
Nope. I just say you like to stir shit up LIKE them.
i came into this thread to give my opinion that after playing the demo a bunch, i felt the (demo) is good, but not great

i do enjoy stirring shit up, but i shouldn't be accused of doing it by calling a game fucking good

Did he change his avatar lately? I remember a mike who did a lot of negative hyperbole in the R2 thread (no, I don't mean kittowny) like "this is the worst game I EVER played" and stuff like that. It was annoying!

If I'm wrong, my apologies. ;)

That's a pretty idiotic reason to want a game to be bad. Enjoyment from reading disappointed forum posters opinions vs enjoyment playing an amazing game. Hmmm...

well, he did say "a small part of him".

Tried the demo, don't have much opinion on the gameplay seeing how much I play FPSes (not much). But oh boy it's pretty.

that's why it was a small part of me and not the majority. if i truly wanted the game to be bad, i probably wouldn't have created a euro account just to download this demo.

John Dunbar said:

I think he just slipped in the "small" today. Back then it was just "a part of me" lol. But fuck it, you shouldn't want any game to be shit. No matter the console or game. We buy these fucking consoles to play great games, and the more great games the better. Seriously, what the fuck is with this place sometimes.

The idiocy in this thread is unbelievable.
Its a 2-way street, and anytime a game receives this level of hype there are going to be people (legitimate fans of the game) with hype-castles built upon unreal expectations fueled by threads like these and 'games of the forever' hyperbole - who will feel ultimately disappointed by what they receive, because nothing could ever match these levels of hype. The super fans need to accept that its not a personal attack everytime a complaint is raised.

Still having fun with the demo :P

Love getting that hig rifle in the warehouse and taking heads off.

Just 3 more weeks.

The fact that I can play this demo 70 different times in 70 different ways is fucking AWESOME! Earlier, I focused all my fire from one side of the map to get the attention of the enemies. So as they're firing at me and the rest of my squad I sneak to the other side mostly avoiding detection, watch the enemies get taken out by my guys while I sneak to the back of one of the APCs to get on top and slice the distracted mofo in the back of the head. FUCKING. AWESOME. Snake would be so proud :D .

I was able able to simply tick the in-game gamma to full and get what appears to be the perfect gamma. I calibrated my set myself using HCFR software and an EyeOne Display 2 Colorimiter. So not only do I know my set is calibrated properly I've got the software readouts to prove it, everything from the light output to the grayscale tracking is nearly spot on from the PS3.

This same type thing happened with GTAIV and Mercenaries 2, although both games are totally screwed in other areas too. At least with KZ2 they had enough sense to make the adjustment a simple one, though I'd much rather companies start to implement labels on things instead of a simple slider bar.

I love the mounted gun, that thing is awesome. It just rains down hell from above. Awesome. :D

I also heard you can get the helghast pistol, has anyone run into that?

Cuz its dead and wont do any thing. I can't have it just sit here and stare at it. :)

Oh all you lucky bastards enjoying the demo, I envy you!!!!111!!!!! :lol :lol

when i read some of you guys coments i ask myself.... what where you expecting? you saw the vids / previews / pics... do some of you thought it would become gt5 with guns or something, it is and it was planed as a shooter ... a good one that is... + oh my god i sound like a ps3-tool :(

But if people have played the game and they disagree. There is absolutly nothing you can do about it.

Why bother with hype control?
