so I went to my local game store today..and all Killzone ( PS2 ) copies are gone ( there were 15 of them or something two weeks ago ) and if people read the reviews and thought it was the PS2 version then this is freaking hilarious , but if they want to catch with the story or because of the demo then KZ2 serious business

Other than crazy gaf. A lot of people seemed to have really enjoyed the demo. I think the way it was done was nice and short so you end up wanting more.

I'm kind of dissapointed the game doesn't have an engaging story line. That is pretty much why I play shooters....

Has a great backstory on the KZ website, but yeah, from what the reviews are saying, the story in it is pretty barebones. I'll reserve my final judgment for when I play the game. I've played too many games that were hailed by reviewers as having great stories, and they were completely uninteresting to me.

It could be me, but it seems like there's less gun recoil in the demo than in the beta. Or am I smoking some good ish? Also, if anyone with a copy of the game could answer, are the controls/sensitivity/acceleration the same in multiplayer as it is in singleplayer? I swear I saw it mentioned somewhere that in the multiplayer, it felt like the controls where a bit quicker/lighter feeling. I hope this isn't the case and that the game controls exactly the same in multi as single. I don't want to have to adjust the sensitivity for multi and single back and forth...

Well it sounds like KZ2 doesn't even reach the low bar of standard first person shooters. At least in games like Halo, Half Life 2, and even COD4 there are some twists, turns & reveals with the plot.

I played COD4 storyline through once; I think it took around 20 hours.

I then continued to play COD4 online for the next 10 or so months, for about 15 hours per week.

I expect my experience with KZ2 will be similar to that.

I'm patiently waiting for a AAA FPS to nix the single player storyline and focus %100 on the online multiplayer. I want them to spend the money on where I spend my time.

Given the XBox Live activity charts showing Halo and COD consistently at or near the top, I believe theres a fair number of people who would appreciate this approach as well.

Shadowrun says hi..and damn you all to hell for not giving it a chance

:P

I only buy shooters for the MP so.....good story/bad story I could give a rats ass....give me the MP!!

I ve been disappointed with the stories found in most shooters since the original Half-Life...just give me multi baby!!

Did you play through the whole game prone or something? :p

edit: that was quick :lol

No, I didn't do that in COD4.

That is, however, how I managed to enjoy my first play through of MGS4 in just under 90 hours.

If you don't actually know that the game has endless respawns, it can take you a long time to progress through.

Whats an endless respawn? Is that like a perk you need to equip in order to finish the game in under 20 hours?

I easilly spent over 20 hours pushing through CoD4. Of course I only played on Veteran and got all 1000 points. But that single playthrough took a good 2-3 months and endless checkpoint restarts.

I'm really interested in jumping in and seeing what the story in kz2 is like. I honestly am not expecting much given the fact that I'm supposed to be in a squad of regular joes enjoying the theatre of war.

Besides, (at least in my opinion) most games with "oscar worthy" exposition have just seemed hackneyed, contrived, and wrought with cliches.. but maybe that's just me.

COD4 took 20 hours to go through the first time?

I didn't play on the hardest difficulty, but I played through on the next highest, I believe. Took me 8-10 hours I think. Some of you people must be exploring every nook and cranny of the maps.

Is 27th of feb a hard release date or a soft one? Meaning that no one can sell it before that or else they're getting a fine?

Don't play Fallout 3 or Oblivion.

I can't tell if you're joking or not, seriously.

It’s Victor Zuylen from Killzone.com here. With Killzone 2 receiving lots of positive attention from the press, I figured now would be a good time to give you a taste of the bonus content which can be unlocked on Killzone.com through the game.

After you’ve uncovered a piece of Helghast intel in Killzone 2’s single player campaign, you can connect to Killzone.com to claim a special reward. These unlockable rewards come in various shapes and sizes – some are simply printable versions of the propaganda posters you see in-game, others contain details on the wildlife of the Maelstra Barrens or pages from a Helghast soldier’s secret journal.

If you’re good enough, you can even unlock and download physical objects from the Killzone universe. “That’s impossible,” I hear you cry at your monitor, “You can’t to download physical objects through the Internet – let alone objects from a fictional universe.” Ah, but then you’ve obviously never witnessed the venerable art of papercraft:

You got it man.

Same here, in case you need some feedback.

Story isn't that important to me as long they keep it interesting. TTP, can you tell us or PM me how long the actual operation is? I don't mean the play length but the period of time this story is about(hours, days or weeks).

Keep in mind the Smash Bros thread was from 05-22-2007 to 04-15-2008

Halo thread is from 09-05-2007 to Present

and the Killzone 2 thread is from 11-13-2008 to Present

That's insane dude. KZ is on pace to smash that record. Imagine if the mods let this become the official thread and it persist on until next nov. 6 million confirmed.

I got a copy the other day. Intro was awesome, but gameplay was... Well, I laughed after I took my first shot and I turned it off after about ten minutes. Would have stopped sooner but it was kind of like staring at a car wreck.

I don't get what sort of quality there is about view counts that outweighs the need for a new, clean thread.
