Now that slo mo is in the game we will prob get more stuff like this next gen. :)

Also guys it looks like someone within GAF has some contact within GG so we could get more info from them. Could you please put what questions you would like answers for in KZ SF and I will compile them and send it to him.

Please keep the questions reasonable!

Please ask them if they are taking feedback from the GAF and other forums? They need to look at what the faithful KZ fans want and not chase the COD market. I read somewhere that they read GAF threads, but when they ignored much of what changes were asked for KZ3, it gives me very little confidence that they even listen to their fans.

Im guessing that when K3 hit, it was too late. But I really think the community became very angry and vocal during this time, and I do hope that all that time we spent complaining and criticizing allowed for them to plan SF with us in mind. And it's not like it's just us, surely even the Killzone team realizes the changes they made resulted in a more watered down product. I often wonder how influential Sony is in all this, seeing as both Killzone and SOCOM suffered immensely, and from what I gather, SOCOM's team had leaders who wanted the game to be the way it was.

I imagine the publisher has something to do with all this, as I cant imagine first party developers sacrificing their product the way they do.

I'd like to know more about the "augmented soldier" concept (was mentioned brielfy in an interview floating around here) and how it will make its way into gameplay. Obviously slow-mo is one of them.

Just a general idea of how they're looking at the gameplay, how they feel about it in the series to this point, and what they think of the 'generic' accusations and if they think that's being addressed or worth being addressed. I want to hear what they have to say that might convince me that this is more than an alternative to COD or BF, basically. Just straight up ask them what makes Killzone a unique experience, besides story. I'd like to hear what their thoughts are there.

I'm most interested in how the gameplay will shape up for this game, but I'm also curious about where this game stands visually in terms of the final product. Is there much to be done? Are more specs available to them than expected? Can we expect to see an improvement based on that? If so, how much?

If they keep the animations in tact, reduce the turn speed, crank up motion blur, put heavy recoil, and keep hip fire as the optimum way of shooting in close - mid range like KZ2 then there is nothing to fear. KZ2 has the best gunplay this gen hands down. They can reduce input lag and yet keep all these things intact to keep the weighty feel.
That's all they really needed to do to improve KZ2's controls. They went overboard and it lost a lot of it's challenge and identity in the process. I hope they realize that.

How is the multiplayer in Killzone compared to CoD?

Killzone 2 is the best multiplayer experience on the PS3, no wait, any console hands down.

One of the best things about it was the map design. EVERY level was good. In most games, I tend to hate 90% of the maps because they are horribly imbalanced. Not with Killzone 2. As well as having a nice visual design, they flowed well.

Killzone 2's 'Warzone' is also unique - a mode where various objectives are cycled throughout the match.

Clan system was also amazing. I can't think of any other game with the same level of implementation as KZ2. What other game lets you arrange tournament matches?

I'm honestly amazed at how GG botched everything that made KZ2's multiplayer brilliant. KZ3 was terrible on many levels, and featured such awful maps.

I hope KZSF provides that tight gameplay offered by KZ2. Give me 8v8 battle instead of throwing out 32 players in huge and impractical maps for the sake of size and player counts. And bring back server lists!

^Plus you could set up online matches and add bots to them. It was actually quite fun to team up with a few friends and grossly outnumber yourselves with hard bots and then play Warzone.

For whatever reason they couldn't get this working in Killzone 3. They had some excuse about the number of drones being placed down messing it up, but Killzone 2 had the turrets and air sentries too. I guess the new med bot messed it all up?

Well - the KZ identity started with KZ on PS2 and Liberation on PSP. The game DRASTICALLY changed with KZ2 and lost what it had with the original KZ.

However, regarding this statement, I do enjoy a sense of weight/solidity making your character feel like they belong in the environment.

Even looking at games like Demon's/Dark Souls - the game had a sense of weight which drastically changed depending on the weapon/armor equipped - but was still responsive enough to perform parries, dodges, etc when needed and catered to a variety of playstyles depending on the weapon/armor sets used. The same can be done for shooters. Want a speedier whip? Use an SMG. Want a slower heavier weapon that packs more punch? Use an LMG. Just like playstyles differ in an action game - the same can be done for shooters.

If anything is kept across weapon/playstyles - be it the movement of the player - that "solid" feeling like he is firmly planted in the appropriate environment. Losing video latency for responsive controls but making sure to keep that "weight" is fine. Here's hoping they can nail the latency down and add the weight.

Are they going to fix the M82 front sight post glitch. Because that winds me up. Also stop using Sean Pertwee for voice acting he's terrible.

Are we going to explore the Helghast side more this time? (aka play as one :P )

I never really got the want to play as the Helghast. Yes they have an interesting backstory. But I have always seen them as fantastic enemies, nothing more. I wouldn't want to play them....

SF looks like it might take that course, and they say they are trying to blur the line between good and evil with them.

But in the announcement the first Helghast enemy you see shoots a wounded civilian woman, and a medic trying to help her point blank.

In Killzone 3, ISA are tortured, killed, and experimented on for fun.

In KZ2 they use nukes on their own people.

In KZ1 they invade and kill countless civilians.

The Helghast are pretty damned evil. Do they have reasons to be angry? Yes. But does that justify what they do? No.

I just don't see how they could make the player LIKE being a Helghast. Unless he was a defect, like Hakka.

They are and have always been space Nazis at their heart. I don't see many people begging for a game where you play as the Nazis.

All that said. I wish they would bring back Visari. I believe....

F*** man don't remind me this ... KZ2 was sooooo good and I can't believe how they royally screwed most of the best stuff from KZ2 in KZ3. Hope you are reading these posts GG !!!! FTSGG!!!

This made me sad :(

My favourite part of the Killzone 2 MP was Radec's badass voice. I would actually play harder because he sounded like he would really kick my ass if I didn't. Warzone is so much fun, I hope it doesn't go anywhere.

Will Shadow Fall have more open levels with exploration etc?

This isn't a question, more of a request.

Point him to the timeline and tell him that fans would love it if it was included in the games menu for anyone to read through. It would help flesh out the world tremendously for players.

I'd be ecstatic if they put it in. Similar to how powerful the timeline introduction in Eve Online is for that game, it would actually help make the developers job easier in telling the story in game, since it would give players proper context if they look.

Who/Where is asking questions and when?

It seems like every time a GAF member is doing one of these I either miss seeing the results or it doesn't happen. :(

Eh. It did a lot of things well, map design included. I think my favorite thing about KZ2 is just the sheer satisfaction you get from a kill. Dat beep. I didn't care for the 'weight' in multiplayer though. I actually enjoyed it in the campaign, but it aggravated me in competitive play.

edit: sorry for double

I think the aggravation was the input lag and the the network lag (that was never fixed). Fix those two things and it would be much more responsive while maintaining the momentum.

Ugh no thanks. Most guns in real life don't feel "weighty." They actually feel very precise unless it's a REALLY heavy gun. A lot of the guns in the KZ games should not feel unresponsive or heavy. Even using a pistol in KZ2 was like trying to aim with a 10 foot long iron pole.

I've wondered this as well, ever since the Resistance: Fall of Man -> Resistance 2 debacle.

Ah yes. Dat chirp.

I put in over 100 hours in KZ2. No other MP game has held my attention for so long.

KZ2 was incredible.

I still can't believe how GG produced such a great SP and MP experience (including such excellent maps) and ruined it in KZ3!

It's saddening.

I said it in the other thread but doesn't hurt to say it again, they should animate the entire timeline and use it as the introduction for Shadow Fall. World War 3 all the way up to the 30 years after Killzone 3.

KZ3's controls felt fine, but everything else about KZ2 should return. This includes the head bobbing, animations, weapon sway, recoil, damage stats, and health.

Let's not forget Helghan is significantly larger than Earth, and they are aiming for somewhat realism.

Luckily for you Vekta is roughly Earth-sized.

Meta, can you also ask when they're going to have us in the Euro KZ2 GAF clan over for interviews and a few rounds of KZ2 against the devs, for winning their sponsored tournament? ;p

They mentioned that DS4 has something to reduce input lag, how does it work and how does it affect the game?

Ouch, my heart :(.

Agree totally. KZSF needs to be more like KZ2 and less like KZ3

So far from the footage, its not giving me any hopes that it is back to KZ2 levels or they would even do it :( ..I hope someone gets an answer from them that will they or not go back to KZ2 roots. If not I probably buy it when its in bargain bin just to see the eye candy. I bought KZ3 day 1 and was hugely disappointed.

So many hours on 2, man I loved it. I didn't mind 3, but 2 was far superior. Also please, PLEASE, BRING BACK THE SERVER BROWSER!!!

Fired up KZ3 the other night and had a blast. Was surprised at how active the community still is.

Also, I love Operations. In general I found KZ2's MP better overall, but SF had better include Operations.

It's a shame there are only 3 Operations maps. That Lente Missile Base could of been an awesome one IMO.
