Killzone Shadow Fall - Ultra High Bitrate MP Footage

Wow holy shit, that is the best looking console game ever.

Gloves's textures are amazing!!!

Shiiiiiiit even the pin on that grenade is awesome looking.

Can you show me a scenario where the character passes a color saturated object (red, blue, green, etc.) that light hits and his gloves or weapon recieve the colored light? I didn't notice any from the vids I've seen.

You can see a green hue that covers the gun as the character walks over the grass, for example see the transition from seconds 27 to 30, also at the beginning of the video the ray of light that hits inside the cave briefly illuminates the gun indirectly.

Just gotta remember that this is a launch title. Games will get better. Comparing Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 3 to me was pretty awesome.

I play games mostly for fun and because they're interesting. If I cared about having the highest image quality and stuff, I'd save my money and get a PC. But no, I rather just buy a console and be good for however long the console lasts.

This looks great to me. The main thing I want is for games to start eliminating jaggies and pop up and I'll be very pleased.

..I'm not trying to troll? Can I not have an opinion?

Full disclosure- not a huge KZ fan, was considering buying based pretty much just on graphics. It looks better than probably any game I've ever played, as I'm not a PC gamer. But I don't think the jump is that insane. It looks like a high end PC game to me.

Maybe I'm just not versed enough in tech to understand whats going on underneath the hood, but that footage just looked really nice, not the crazy leap I was hoping for.

Which is totally fine. I get its MP, and that the PS4 will make huge leaps. But its not impacting me the way NBA 2k14 is.

/just one opinion, feel free to disagree/disregard.

This is a launch game. Try to play a game from 2006/2007 and compare it to how games have looked on consoles last 2 years. It's not even close. This is how it works

Jesus christ, even the reflections on the metal pin of the grenade look top fucking notch.

And all that in a screengrab of a game that flies by at 60 frames a second.
Guerrilla Games are operating on another level compared to the competition. My god.

I was only expecting 30fps games to look this good and not for a few years. GG shattered my expectations for a launch title.

Hear hear. I would be most pleased if we had that level of fidelity for the entire gen. But after having seen games like TLoU and Beyond, art direction will reveal just how good things can get on this closed box tech.

The main thing I want from this gen is a very nice IQ and consistent FPS, whether 30 or 60 at 1080p. The one thing that really irked me about the PS3 and Xbox 360 is the poor or lack of AA implementation in a lot of multiplats and some exclusives. It's nice to push the textures and effects, but I want to focus to be on good gaming performance with less jaggies at 1080P. Killzone SF is doing that for me so that's why I'm satisfied with this. In the BF4 direct feed footage at 900P, I thought that the IQ was decent, but still very easily noticed some aliasing, which is what i don't want to see a lot of this gen. I know that for a game as big and open as BF4, there will be limitations for consoles and I'm more glad about how it's running at 60 FPS with 32 players.

There were games like Last of Us which I wouldn't even mind if console games didn't look better than that as long as there was plenty of AA in those games and it played 1080p. Unfortunately AA and 1080p resolution is very taxing on the GPU.

They posted a video. We can post our impressions without it being "shitting up the thread." It looks good.

That said, I think I remember Jeff Gerstmann saying something very similar to my thoughts a week ago on the Bombcast.

Basically that he had to lower his expectations for next gen after seeing Killzone. Thought it looked great, but not earthshattering.

Thats my take too. I don't think that its a crazy opinion.

It looked bland to me as well. All the resolution and FPS in the world can't fix humdrum art direction.

/SHITTIN UP DA THREAD.

Hah, what? I was going to say it looked similar to BF4 running on medium but didn't want a bunch of people yelling at me.

LMAO.. no. It easily looks better than BF4 MP.

Keep in mind though that the scale is lower, there are no destructible environments, and the player count is 1/4th(?) of BF's.
At least, that's my opinion as someone who's playing BF4 on PC with ultra settings.

Looks better than anything coming out on consoles this year.

Definately, it's more technically proficient then anything else, and artistically is awesome, love it.

Btw, if anyone wan't to take in all the little details, download this thing on the PS3...nice unintentional slo-mo. Lol.

That is fair enough, you don't like the game. Fine your opinion is correct, but this post it better and more balanced as to your first one with the " am I suspend to be impressed, lower expectations which came across as flame bait.

I think it looks amazing but you can disagree that us fine. Agree with on NBA2k14 though!!

An undeniable leap ahead of COD (which was "fine" according to you") somehow leads you to being "disappointed" now.

Its all bout expectations- COD is cross-gen. This is a next gen exclusive made by a graphical powerhouse.

this just shows how not so great video services like youtube are when it comes to showing stuff for what it really is.

goddamn, killzone looks great.

I'm always shocked when people attack the art direction in Killzone. Say what you will about the gameplay but the art design is some of the best industrial sci-fi.

Lest we forget, we are looking at MP footage which traditionally is of lower fidelity than SP and also happens to run at about twice the framerate. Imagine what SSM and ND will do down the line with 30fps (locked/unlocked). I lament at the lack of WRPG from one of sony's stables.

It looks nice, if not to the knock-my-socks-off level that I was expecting. The lighting is very pretty though, and if that kind of framerate became the norm, I would be very happy.

It's also a launch game, developed mostly against moving target specs rather than finished hardware, by a dev that spent the last generation getting really good at making the most of the PS3's architecture (which is completely different from what they have to work with now). They've already said that there are loads of optimizations they could make, such as moving stuff over to GPU compute. This is what they managed to do without really having time to dive into that stuff. It's their first attempt at a PS4 game, one that could be said to be rushed in a sense, and it still looks pretty amazing. Their next PS4 game is pretty much guaranteed to be another clear step up.

It's pretty disingenuous to pretend you expected a friend to find Mila Kunis for a date, but "only" got Jennifer Lawrence instead, when a few posts back you had a "fine" date with Kim Kardashian.

What do you mean with working? Have you played it directly from the PS3's HDD and still experienced problems?

Yes. It plays, but the sound is unsynced and video is definitely dropping frames. Getting to 1080/60 seems to be an AVC L4.1 limitation.

I'm not a fan of this map in particular. Something bugs me, and I think it might be the way rocks look...I don't know.
Anyway, the real deal to judge the graphics will be the SP. Give us something else GG!

They should've just locked the frame rate @ 30 and pump up more graphical effects and details. It looks okay with slow downs here and there.

No. Also, there wasn't even more going on in this match. I think full matches will really show off how hectic is Killzone match can be. I think that 60 FPS is a good upgrade (btw, I don't actually mind 30 FPS).

I thought Capcpom had done the proofreading for a second. I guess resecured is sort of a word.
