Inspired, I watched several travel vlogs about North Korea, some of the ones I haven't seen. I'm thinking maybe it's not such a great place after all guys.

Im getting carried away, but on the back of that:

On more serious note:

I feel for the guy in a way. This child, a kid, stood no chance in life.

Imagine as a child being groomed to hate your own people and those around you being powerless to stop it. When your old man passes away and your generals, your own people, hopeful youll be different. Theyre in the same place now with his sister, or if his children are to take the reigns, they to will be groomed from childhood to be the same. Generations of child abuse and brain washing.

Or maybe he was well aware but was just as afraid (due to the air of distrust) of those around him and of china, to make a positive change, so felt he had no choice but to be what was expected of him.

For all the cries of antisemitism and racism when you even remotely make a slight joke about the holocaust or slavery... North Korea has been the longest running sick joke of humanity. Yet when it comes to NK, people just shrug it off as if "thats just the way it is" and they use the threat of nukes as a way to keep us hating an entire people who are just modern day slaves locked in a continent sized interment camp.

If he really is on his death bed, I hope he finds peace. Kid didnt stand a chance.

If she somehow does reform NK, that'd be great, but there's zero indication that it's a plausible outcome based on her history and her position within the Party. She's the de facto head of the Party's propaganda department.

Based on what little I have learned of DPRK I would definitely not expect any change to the positive. I think if anything it will confirm how little the actual leader is in charge.

When I was there half a decade ago Jong-Un had big plans of gradually opening up. They invited guest lecturers to teach VC and entrepreneurship, and built new hotels and expo centres in the capital. In the end all that amounted in nothing, little by little all that got clipped.
