Interesting. I am. And if that was the point I was trying to make, I'd have said so. To me at least he's the most prominent name I can attach to the KKK. What individual person do you think of when you think KKK? Seriously. The only other one I can name is David Duke.
He's dead, Jim. Feel free to parade this dude's carcass around whenever you feel it's fit..the rest of us will point out your impeccable timing..every time..because reasons..

You do have a point. However as long as they stress that they are from the klan the message is still the same.

I think the most telling part of that whole interview was that there were only two of them. 15 years ago when you saw the klan on TV in any capacity they were more numerous. Though perhaps their numbers here are because they realize that supporting this particular issue is against the Klan's best interests...

Eh, even 15 years ago the Klan was a complete joke and had its largest national presence on Jerry Springer. 25 years ago, yeah.

Yeah, I phrased that really, really stupidly. I was watching the coverage and it showed someone up and smacking one of the KKK guys in the back of the head. Then a guy who stole one of their flags. I guess a much less stupid way to put it is it seems to give them exactly what they wanted, a reaction.

dude they showed up with a hybrid Confederate/Nazi flag

there's no reasoning with that.

You win again, Megamind..

Look, I just thought it was a humorous post till you jumped in. I grew up in his state, his name still dominates landmarks, schools, and facilities all over the place here. My whole life, he was getting held up as this great man, but don't mention the KKK. It does bother me a lot, and I guess it shows in that I make mention of him when the topic of the klan comes up. Go figure. If it bothers you that much, I'll never post a reference to Robert C Byrd again. Ever. We'll just pretend he never, ever existed. That's what you'd like, right??? Just scrub that inconvenient bit of history away? Done.

Yup. Please, forgive the man? I've been saying it for decades..shut up..

Not once has anyone "held him up" during discussions of that stupid flag HERE, or the Klan HERE, besides yourself. You bring him up in EVERY thread that no one else has. It's exclusively brought up by you when people talk about the right/Klan/that traitorous flag. I've got nothing else to say to you. Again, you win the day..in your mind.

You seem very keen in bringing up this dead fucker, just for the sake of pointing out "dems too" over, and over again. You sure hate your party..and I'm not the I'm not the only one who's noticed..ignore that, too..gnite, puddin.

So if I love my party (and I don't - I don't "love" or "hate" political parties) I should suppress truthful information that doesn't look good for its image? Ohh, hadn't thought of that. And I'll continue not thinking of it, but I'll stick to the thing about the dead guy. Who I mentioned here once last month, and 2 times in 2014. I searched it. It's a fucking obsession.

And so yes, good nite to you too.

Nothing but pure, bone-deep satisfaction, and a cherished memory that will last a lifetime.

You know, you're right. I guess it was more a fear that the cops escorting them were going to crack down on them and chase that kid and arrest him. Since they didn't, why the hell should I care.

You know what? I wouldn't want anyone assuming I'm a liar, so I went looking for my registration card. I though affiliation would be on there. It's not. But I am a registered democrat. Not like it's a big deal. I wouldn't register as a republican, but I won't deny I've considered going Ind. My wife did a few years ago.

I'm sorry but it's like that scene in The Big Lebowski, you're not wrong you're just an .........

The guy repudiated his views, turned around completely and became one of the biggest proponents in civil rights since the early 80s. The guy died effectively as a traitor to the ideals the Klan purports. He did his utmost to keep the country out of the Iraq war. He was also one of the biggest proponents of DOMA and fought to keep gays out of the military in the 90s. He wasn't perfect by any means.

But he looked inside himself, realized he was wrong on race and segregation, and spent the rest of his life trying to make amends as best he could. And to throw that back into someone's face, to piss all over once an enemy turned to an ally, it's just tacky.

They changed tactics to coded language. White Pride, and White Genocide, etc

The white genocide crap is probably the most worthless tagline of the white supremacist movement. Normal people don't refuse to love someone attractive because of their racial background. It's literally going against nature itself.

Let's see if I can channel Bodacious and give an intelligent and reasoned response...

But they have given us the perfect pic to throw in the face of the far larger amount of morons saying the flag isn't related to racism.

Can we please not be assholes to the people who actually believe this flag held no racism? I mean, I live in Ohio, that's all that flag meant, but there are people out there who truly believe it had no racism in that flag. Hell, down south I've seen other black people with that flag, which weirded me out, but hey, if they don't see racism in it, who am I to judge? I'm just saying, calling them morons for a different opinion on a object is a bit harsh when they truly see no harm in the object.

All though, after this stunt from the KKK, I think a lot of them will be dropping this flag.

Make sure to watch it when you get a chance. They wear their hoods and robes through the whole interview. It makes it pretty hilarious.

The interview has been quoted in other articles, so you'll hear some classics. "The KKK isn't about hate, it's about white pride. If I saw a black man broken down on the side of the road, I'd help him. I don't support the church shooting, but it would've been okay if he shot some drug dealers on a street corner."

Fucking idiots.

Lol Yep, they looked silly. Standard statements on what they represent, but the whole drug corner part threw me off. That's a good reason to murder people? Wow...

I'm serious. Let these people speak for themselves, their hate will speak for itself.

edit: Like that guy who sucker punched one of the KKK members just a second ago and ran. There's nothing to gain from that.

I disagree, I threw rocks at the Aryan nation during one of their parades in Cour D'alene many years ago. Felt good then and feels good now.
