TGS 2005: KOF Maximum Impact 3
The second one isn't even out yet!

September 16, 2005 - KOF Maximum Impact 2 was a big deal for the Xbox 360 and SNK Playmore at the Tokyo Game Show today, but the next game in the series could be even bigger. Quietly announced in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan, KOF Maximum Impact 3 will be the first next-generation vision of SNK's 3D King of Fighters franchise on Sony's platform.

Particulars surrounding the title haven't been revealed yet, but once they have, you can be sure that we'll keep you in the know.

I'd rather they announce KOF XI for PS3 and X360.

Impact isn't terrible (the US ads were) but in no way should this subfranchise be sequelized twice.

Lyte Edge will be happy...I believe he is the only individual on earth that likes it. Although Ferrio seemed to like some aspect from it...don't remember which.

Jesus, it isn't that bad. It's a much better game than the SFEX's, and easily the best attempt at taking a 2D fighting game into polygons that I can think of. It's a bit more broken than your typical KoF, and the animation is iffy from time to time, but those are my only complaints.

I think SNK/Playmore could refine the hell out of this and make something amazing.

Yeah, I guess that's the kicker for most people.

I wouldn't say its worse than Project Justice or anything, though, and Lord knows the RS games are well-loved.

That's fair, RS/PJ were pretty broken too, IIRC.

At the time, I thought RS was a lot of fun in comparison to T3, VF3, SF3, KOF97...

Well I thought it was a good first attempt for a KOF game in 3D. Some of the things like rigging models looked pretty bad and didn't like the character design of the new female characters (I could tolerate there 2p costumes). Something about there hair is just pain goofy. But that aside, I found the game to fun. Isn't that the point? Well I'm glad to hear that they plan on continuing the francise.

Since I can't create a new topic.. they just released pictures of KOF:MI2. Billy Kane plus two new characters (Luise Meyrink and Nagase). For the few people that care...

KOF:MI2 link

KoF:MI isn't worthy of licking the boots of SFEX+A.

Hell, I'd prefer to see a Toshinden sequel on the PS3 over this. At least I'll be getting a Psychic Force sequel. That should rock if they keep moving in the direction they were taking it with PF2.

Dude, I know!

It's like they made the third one, right? And everybody had a gun. There was actually an ammo counter along with your life and super bar. Dudes had chainsaws and shit. Nagisa actaully has to reload twice during his special.

And then they just *stopped*

Bring this series back. Bring back the fighter with a reload button.
Dudes could fight with cars or somethin'

Fuck that. Toshinden 3 sucked massive balls. Takara totally aped Namco's sorry ass swapping the character model, and giving them Character A's moves to artificially inflate the roster crap. They added canned combos and a bunch of other Tekken influenced crap. BLECH!

Toshinden Subaru was a better sequel, but TSD2 is still the high point of the series.

Losing Tsukasa Kotobuki as the primary character designer hurt too. >:(

SNK should really think about getting their games online on Xbox 360 instead of focusing on KOF : Maximum Impact.

Co-op Metal Slug Collection over Xbox Live would be godly.

In theory yes.

But imagine me screaming at you that you messed up my pattern\took my weapon\wasted a slug. I magine how profane I'd be. How long could I keep my deep-seeded anti-Canadian sentiment in check?

And what makes you think that I wouldn't be the one screaming at you ?

That FRENCH Canadian for you, sir.

I agree.

Its not that broken (most of the initial infinites can be evaded if u tech roll)... its just too fast imo. Crazy... its faster than its original 2D counterparts :O

I like it bcoz its like a hybrid of 2D KOF gameplay and stuff normaly found in 3D fighters such as High, Mid, Low attacks, Tekken-esque Stylish Arts and alternate costumes. My biggest complaint is that, as I said b4, its too bloody fast that some matches can end in under 5 seconds if ur not careful.

Anyways, I'm really glad SNKP is coming out with a sequel (but isnt it a bit too early to announce part 3? :p). This series has potential, and its a treat watching the 2D characters modelled in 3D :)
