Abandoned for PS5 is not a secret Hideo Kojima game

Hideo Kojima is making a new game, but it is not the upcoming PlayStation 5-exclusive horror game Abandoned.

But the biggest piece of evidence I have that Abandoned is not a Kojima joint is that Kojima is in talks with Microsoft about publishing his next game, according to a source familiar with the matter. And yes, that statue on Phil Spencer's shelf was referencing a potential deal with the legendary developer. I cannot confirm if Xbox closed the deal yet, but my understanding is that Kojima is the focus of a Microsoft plan to leverage Japanese talent.

As long as its on PC they can release on the Atari Jaguar for all I care. But as always a Microsoft exclusivity is better than a Sony or Nintendo one mainly due to game preservation and likelihood of a PC port.

he likes the idea of making a game based on the aspects of a cloud service and the stuff you can do with such a service. xCloud is not such a service, xCloud plays Xbox games in the cloud and is not a dedicated cloud service with its own games.
 
I am Ok with this.

Microsoft excels at scoring these BOMBA exclusives and then dropping the bag completely when it comes to delivering an actual game that isn't Forza.

It's shocking to me that Sony didnt immediately sign him up for this next game almost 2 years ago when he shipped Death Stranding. This guy works so fast, he wouldve been half way through his next game by now. WTF is Sony doing?

TBH, I like new Micorsoft a lot more than I like new Sony so while I may have some reservations with how Microsoft has treated Japanese devs in the past, I think this new Microsoft might actually give him the freedom and support he needs more than what Jimbo is clearly willing to offer. 1.5 years since Death Stranding winning all those GOTYs and this man still doesnt have a job. Shocking.

a lot of people didn't like Death Stranding, and I think Sony saw that coming because the game is super weird and extra. maybe they didn't want to gamble
 
Wouldn't surprise me. I love Kojima but he's a whore for attention and money. If Microsoft wanted to throw money at him to make his next game exclusive he would jump at it.

Also I'm not saying it's a bad move. I think it would do Microsoft some good to have a big Japanese name, and I like that Microsoft is pushing so hard because last gen it seemed like they barely tried until like 2016 and them pushing hard should hopefully make Sony push hard as well. Competition is good, and when one company dominates a generation it's dull. Plus I want Kojima to keep making stuff.

it won the most gotys that year. most fan gotys, and only trailed re2 by two gotys from critics. 51 to 49. most overall. It was definitely weird and extra but it clearly worked.

i am not even saying they had to sign him to do a sequel but clearly kojima had earned another game. Jimbo just fucked up like always. I mean who the fuck picks Death Loop over a kojima game. A jimbo.

His games are not really for me, but this would be funny as an observer, so I'm all for it. Would try on GamePass I think.

Microsoft mean business this time, clearly. Great times ahead.

it still got REALLY mixed receptions from fans and the mainstream. and maybe Sony didn't believe in it? I don't know... could also be that they work on a game for Sony as well? who knows.
