Today Konami announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April and September 2024.

According to the financial documents, total revenue for the whole company was 184,084 million yen (up 19.7% year-on-year), business profit was 50,217 million yen
(up 41.8% year-on-year)

These metrics (including all profit metrics) continue to be record-high for the company.

Revenue for the digital entertainment business, which includes games and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, was 131,650 million yen (up 28.9% year-on-year) and business profit was 46,655 million yen ( up 50.3% year-on-year).

We learn that eFootball is “still going strong” also thanks to a startup campaign to celebrate the new season. The announcement of eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit featuring Shohei Ohtani has been met with “an overwhelming response.”

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel surpassed 70 million downloads.

We also hear that the company plans to continue releasing more “completely new” Silent Hill games following the release of Silent Hill 2, and we get the tease of a new Silent Hill Program livestream coming at some point in the future. Konami intends to provide a “variety of information” then.

Can't wait for MGS Delta.

I honestly I have been super critical of SH2 Remake but after playing the game it well deserved.

They did a fantastic job with Remake, I can’t believe we got proper good SH game after 20 years.

despite the impending SH2 Remake release, the only presence of Konami at this year's Gamescom was a giant ass Yu-Gi-Oh! area located in the merchandise hall. Talking about priorities.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Remember the internet was all “fuck konami” and swear to boycott Konami forever when they removed Hideo Kojima years ago

I didn't buy silent hill and won't back Konami u til they start making NEW games in my favorite series. They are sitting on some of gamings greatest legendary series and yeah that pisses me off.

A remake of 1 and 3 with the same quality as 2 would be a dream come true. Especially SH3 would be so dope, but unsure if it would work without releasing the first one yet due to story connection.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
MGS Delta released date still TBD,but looks like the game will be released in the fiscal year ending March 2025

Yes, of course. Clearly it's not releasing calendar '24. I tried to tell y'all months ago.

Good. Konami used to be one of the great ones back in the 8 &16-bit eras, back when it was synonymous with good times whenever you saw the logo.
They even had one of the first real trans-media properties with Twinbee, a vertically scrolling pastel themed shmup. Games, anime, comics and metric shit-ton of radio drama.

But the company started suffering dutch disease by milking the Mania line of games and eventually hit the budget wall in the 2010s where it could no longer compete with western devs, so they focused inward on Pachinko and Japan only games.
So what I'm laboriously trying to get to, if they want to take a real stab at getting back into videogames internatinally, diversify and don't shit out a bunch of Metal Gear and Silent Hill games. Reach into the IP bucket and farm them out to anyone willing to work on them. Offer NatsumeAtari a license and funding to do a reboot/remake of Goemon. Talk with Tribute.

I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate. They also just released absolute, insane garbage like SH Short Message.

As much as I clowned on Bloober, the fact SH2R is a surprise win is wholly on them in my opinion. They were already worshipping SH with The Medium but actually stepped their game way up unlike most devs manage. I think this ultimately had little to do with Konami, a company that "revived" the franchise with Short Bus Message.

I do hope that we get more surprise hits like this ultimately but I'm really skeptical. I just can't believe there isn't a new Castlevania in the making.
