They believe they are each gurus of the enlightenment known as “progressivism”. They believe that we illiterate whelps (savages, if you will) are only disagreeing with them because we are not knowledgable on the holy word of political correctness. If only we deaf and dumb savages were informed of the gospel and enlightened, we would agree whole-heartedly with their cause.

Ideologues like this, who feel the need to to push their beliefs upon others, were not always a part of this hobby. In fact we used to unify in mocking the bible-thumping soccer moms who proclaimed Pokémon was the devil and that Mortal Kombat would inspire mass murders. But now here we are, with similar ideologues co-opting this hobby and preaching a different kind of gospel, one whose rules and limits are even more arbitrary. Any word that has ever been used to insult someone is permanently taboo. Valuing historical accuracy is bigotry. Playing games made by wrongthinkers is prejudice. Facts are violence. War is peace. I wanna add: the author begins the argument with several positive -- but ultimately vapid -- statements about the game before transitioning into his illogical rant. I get the impression he did this purposefully to hedge bets and retreat to "but I said that I thought the game was fun" as a deflection for criticism.
