L.A. Rush - Gamespot review

6.3

And that's pretty much what L.A. Rush does as a whole. It fades into the background and never makes an attempt to stand out from the competition. It's the wallflower of street racing games, a completely innocuous and thoroughly unremarkable piece of work that doesn't have a lot to offer street racing fans beyond what they've seen and done before. The driving engine is certainly good, and the developers did a good job re-creating LA for nefarious racing purposes, but considering the unrelenting grind of the story mode and the complete lack of base-level features that every other street racing game on the market has, it's tough to recommend L.A. Rush to anyone but the most hardcore of racing fans. And if you do feel it necessary to check out L.A. Rush, just give it a rental, as a weekend's worth of play is about as much as you'll need to squeeze out what marginal enjoyment the game has to offer.

I don't think anyone would be surprised by this, this game has look pretty crappy since the start. Always looked like a very poor man's version of Midnight Club 3 to me...except it had some daytime stages

Very dissapointing but not entirely suprising. I'm a huge fan of the Rush series but this game never looked liked it had much in common with the older games. The shortcuts and jumps I've seen in videos are very tame and not too exciting compared the older games. Lucky Burnout Revenge seems to have turned out to be a better Rush game then LA Rush! :P

I'd very much like to see a game in the style or San Francisco Rush/Rush 2049 but with a modern setting, wings as unlockable feature and driving controls similar to Burnout.

I can't bring myself to look at Gamespot's horrible new site again. Is this more arcade-like or is it a street racing game in Rush clothing?

Agreed I've always viewed it that way myself.

Rush is dead.

Midway blew millions trying to copy NSFU and Burnout, but couldn't drop any cash on Shadow Hearts 3. Weak

Well, that completely blows. The kids have been playing 2049 on Dreamcast like crazy lately and man, that's just like as good as it gets for arcade racing in the Rush-mold. I'd really love to see another game like that.

l.a. rush sucks thanks to people like this guy:

They should've kept the Rush formula instead of turning it into yet ANOTHER stupid pimp-my-ride game. I'm tired of that shit, and have no interest in ricing up my car.
this is also why I like burnout so much.

Yeah I saw the commercial the other day and didn't know what the game was, surprised and disappointed it was Rush.

I don't know why they used the Rush name. Are they really going to lure people in who were fans of past Rush's? Considered there's absolutely no SIMILARITY between this piece of shit and past titles, I don't see it happening.

Also, I seem to remember a questionnare on Midway's website a year or two ago asking people what they wanted to see in a new Rush title.

If this is what people wanted, then that just sucks...
