Anyone been shot with lasers?

I'm 22 I'm thinking about getting it done, cause after 15yrs of glasses....well I Fucking Hate Them.

I keep hearing from people that 22 is too young to have it done. I haven't gone yet, will be planning in the next weeks to go have a consult.

Experiences?

Haters are welcome, just make it funny, dillholes.

I'm fine with contacts for at least another 15 years until maybe some long-term impact of the procedure can be assessed, and by that point I'll be old enough that I won't live long enough for long term consequences to be of any concern to me anyway. :lol

Funny that this thread would pop up today. I had both my eyes done abut 6 months ago with moderate success. Yesterday I had an "enhancement" done to my left eye, and so far so good. My eyes after the first treatment were a HUGE improvement over what they were (-5.5 both eyes) to about a -1.5. Hopefully they can get them to a steady 20/20.

It DID hurt going in for the enhancement because they no longer cut the flap again, they peel it open with tweezer like things. My vision at the moment it cloudy, but that is to be expected.

Let me know if u have any questions, id be happy to answer them.

What are the odds of getting 20/20 or better for someone with a stigmatism -1.50 cylindrical. I am so damn anal about my vision anything less than 20/20 would be distracting.

Don't forget, LASIK is affected by environmental humidity. So over time in a very humid place, your vision may lose its originally tuned clarity and you may have to go in for another procedure.

"who knew laser eye surgery caused blindness after 10 years?"

Look, they're basically going to be shooting a laser into your eye. Investigate doctors like you're stalking them. Ask around, ask your regular doctor, and be a little suspicious if they have bus/train ads. The good ones shouldn't NEED to advertise.

/Thanks, Dr. Zizmore!

Well, if you're looking for anecdotal stories about lasik, here's a link describing the problems comedian Kathy Griffin has had with it...

Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Anyhow I was thinking about getting this done, but realized that contacts aren't really that expensive and it really doesn't take much time to pop them in. I know the likelihood is remote but if something were to go wrong, like what happened to Kathy then there is no turning back. Also I've heard that your just trading one form of vision problem for another later on, as you will developed the opposite vision problem you had corrected. That is to say that if you get laser surgery to fix near sightedness in 10 to 15 years you will developed far sightedness because of the surgery that will not be fixable.

You also will need to have a stable prescription to have the surgery (or else it'll just degrade). I have to get stronger glasses every 1-2 years, so no laser surgery will be suitable until that stabilized. My 21 year old friend has already committed to it. Seeing the doctor in the second week of August for it.

Ask me specific questions and I will answer. I had the procedure done 1 month ago. I had 20/200 vision now it is 20/15. I had wavefront lasik done.

I have been thinking about doing this for a while, but I never will cuz I'm too chickenshit.

Also, I actually like wearing glasses. I even believe I look better with them on. My gf thinks otherwise, but whatever.

I love how the doc looks NOTHING like that anymore, which I'm guessing was taken 20 years ago. But the best one are the ads featuring Mrs. Zizmore who's face is mysteriously covered by her huge hat.

Looking over some of the links now.

See my vision is fucking horrible, anything further than 5 inches from my face and it's like I just got a facial shot straight in my eyes....

Ahem.

I would honestly trade 100% of the time glasses for reading glasses. I don't know, I guess I'm a bitch or something, but I HATE waking up and not being able to do shit until I find my glasses. grrrrr.

Thanks for the info, I'll post some questions if they come up.

i opted to go with contacts. lasik doesnt last and you'll end up having to get it done again. i love friggin contacts. you cant feel em, they're easy and cheap.
