What an horrible way to show your game.

Looks pretty sweet in scale though.

But...so very dense forest...

The game looks good, but the way it was presented was very awkward and underwhelming. C'mon Nintendo, it's ZELDA, a little more fanfare would've helped.

they showed this thing off like they were the first people to discover open world games

"yeah the map is large"
"oooh your horse doesn't run into things as you move"
"Yes you can collect items in the overworld and attack enemies"
"ahh you can even put beacons on the map hory shit!"
Yeah, it was pretty painful to watch. My favorite was when he proudly announced "Now you can choose to go where you want!" Oh wow! What wizardry is this?

Comments like this are the reason why nintendo quit showing early footage off. People are so critical of shit and don't realize theres tons of time left in development. This is nintendo for fucks sake, they are smarter than to just leave an empty world.
I'm glad you have faith. I haven't written the game off or anything, but all I can comment on is what they showed, which was... a lot of nothing. I mean I'd be fine if it was rough around the edges but showed an interesting direction they were going in, but this was just pointless.

Is it really just me, or... Is Zelda just not exciting me as much anymore because we are getting, like, two Zelda games each year?

I am kind of tired of seeing Link now, I just beat Hyrule Warriors and Majora's Mask comes out in two-three months, and I just bought the MK8 DLC with Link as a playable character and a Zelda race track. I also 100% Wind Waker HD just a while ago, so why not just CHILL on the Zelda releases and focus on the plethora of other IPs Nintendo got in stock?

Link Between Worlds excited me a great deal, but now... There are less Assassin's Creeds a year than Zelda, it feels like. Why not release this game in 2016 and put Metroid in 2015, so we have some... I don't know, variety.

Looks really nice though, I am just not overly excited. Especially considering Inquisition kind of satisfies my "Explore a nice-looking world on a horse-back"-needs.

Dude, no offense, but what are you even talking about?

You're counting MK8 DLC as a Zelda game?

What about Smash?

Looks to me what I would imagine Zelda 1 would look like if it was produced as a current gen game. If that's what they're going for, I'm sold.

Lots of empty meaningless terrain. :/

I was excited to see it, but that killed any hype I had. Fucking horrible motion controls and barren world.

Oh well.

That looked really boring. :( :(

Wow, can't believe how disappointed I am in this. It was like a Far Cry clone. At least there's Majora's Mask..

Ya that overworld looked really bland and sparse.

I don't need a large overworld, I need density in my games.

Missed the reveal to eat McDonald's. No regrets.

could they have made a more boring way to reveal Zelda gameplay

I'm going to be the voice of negativity and say that gameplay premiere looked BAD.

The world is lifeless, the graphics, especially the geometry and complexity of the environment feel way too basic, the trees were copy paste work.

Really felt like a Skyrim Zelda skin/mod, I expected something way more lively and colourful, didn't like it at all. That said I still trust Aonuma.

I thought it looked underwhelming

the zoomed in trees at the beginning, terrible.
bad textures and few details in the riding section, too.
I hope this will improve a lot.

motion control aiming. :(

:(

:(

I reserve judgement til it comes out, but that didn't do a whole lot to spark my excitement unfortunately!

Looks bad, the world seems boring

I know it's not right to judge over a short gameplay demo like this, but it just looks so empty... I don't have high expectations for this one.

Christ people, would you rather not see a trailer until mid 2015? Also almost any Wii U motion controllable in previous titles have had the option to use analog stick so chill out and enjoy the reveal.

It's amazing that there is such negative reaction to a demo that shows so little combat or action and was entirely gameplay.

It looks very fun and relaxing to explore the section of the world they showed.

I am certain that 100% of the map and maybe not even 15% of the map will play exactly like that demo did.

can't get too excited when they hardly showed off any combat, and 0 dungeons.

Though it does look great. although that is expected from these games.

I was hoping for some villages/ friendly NPC engagement.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Like pretty much all of Nintendo's Wii U games have looked rough as shit when they were first revealed..and yet damn near all of them have been waaay better than their reveals.

have faith.

No, we can't judge based on logical things like track record. We can only form opinions based on exactly the things we see right now in three minutes of off-screen gameplay.

Because the game is not done and polished yet, simple as that, they usually never show zelda this early and for something thats not E3

No shit. What I'm saying is that that's fine and it will get better BUT we should be able to comment on how things are 'now' as well. If not we should probably say positive things about all games until release lol (would be such a lovely peaceful time wouldn't it tho?)

Theres no way they will release this game without analog aiming or pro controller support. Don't worry.

See, i think, for me, light, animation and grass are god tier.

What makes some areas look lifeless in that demo is, in my mind, the trees and how they are kinda randomly positioned with no diversity whatsoever. But i'm sure they'll change that.

Kinda wish they had shown more of this fullscreen but they might have wanted to mask the in-development nature of the graphics.

Lifeless? Like what the fuck are some of you talking about? Because when I go for a walk in a field or the woods I have to dodge animals because you know, they are fucking all over the place.

Obviously the demo was to illustrate the openness of the game. They gave a brief tease of an area populated by enemies. There is much more to come.

Jesus GAF, overreact much?

Was nice to see more of what this Zelda is going to be.
It has my attention, but I need to see more to actually get excited for it.

Link's scarf/cape clips through his shield visibly.

It's weird. I'd assume it was early in development if they weren't so confident in releasing it next year.

I got asleep before the demo.
Kinda disappointing...seems to have copied all the bad parts of SOTC and none of the good ones of a zelda title...

Or maybe people can do both. Judge what's in front of them but also take into account track records as well.

This would really benefit from a map that goes all the way down to ground level like Google Street View so you can mark the landscape in a more 3D way.

I really can't wait for this, I just wish they'd shown direct feed footage. I bought a WiiU for Zelda, and this is exactly what I'd hoped for. As long as they iron out all the technical niggles by release, it'll be amazing. I want to know the title, too. Also,

If we get a trailer for Zelda U I will suck the cock of every last one of you. So you better hope they won't show one.
Oh boy.

A huge open world on land with Epona is the main thing I wanted. They're succeeding on that front. Just the opposite of Skyward Sword.

I'm happy.

He's talking about how Link used to be a "sacred" character. He only appeared every couple of years, and his adventures were grand. Now he's become "commercialized". He's in almost every Nintendo franchise, even ones with Mario in the title.

I see what he's saying, even if I don't know if I'd go that far.
