Okay, so my guess is they delayed this to coincide with a game launch.

Since WW and TP would just be simple ports, perhaps this is a spinoff or rather the new zelda game will be announced.

ToTK released on May 12th 2023. 4 years before the movie.

Perhaps they start marketing for whatever comes after ToTK and the movie is the announcement point?

Perhaps they release Links Awakening 2 around the time of the movie? Maybe release a TP/WW HD bundle that releases when the movie comes out. Maybe a new spirit tracks to tide us over for mainline zelda?

This was my first thought aswell. But damn that would be a long wait for Switch 2 owners to get a new Zelda game.
