A little small but
DEAD.
Sorry, I can click to zoom bigger.
Also, I use my 42 inch TV for pc, so I have no problem.
Boo.1) The rental system can come back it's actually not bad, the issue is more that there wasn't much new to ALBW since half of the overworld was already lifted from Alttp.
2D tutorials aren't quite the same as the 3D game's tutorials. Skyward Sword IS the current standard in that regard.Don't segregate them. The most recent Zelda game is ALBW. The tutorial lesson was learned and applied there already. Stop treating Skyward Sword as the current standard for Zelda opening tutorials.
I agree this is the mountain in question on the map, and I never said it was Death Mountain. Jason Schrier should have read what I wrote more carefully because the point of that part of my analysis was to point out that that ISN'T Death Mountain. They aren't looking in that direction when that mountain is straight ahead and the mountains in that area make it impossible to see Death Mountain anyway, which is a big reason why the massive bridge has to be south of Lake Hylia because you have a straight line of sight across the plains to Death Mountain with no mountains in the way.I know a lot of people are arguing differently but I want to say that that mountain (as well as the mountain range on the left) is part of the FOREGROUND. The death mountain you actually can't see from the beginning of the game.
Just watch this moment again, and take note of the parallax. You'll notice the mountain actually shifts quite a bit compared to the further background mountains.
I will mark out where I think the mountains are.

Let me say this again, this map is fucking huge. They even said it in the demo - "That's a huge world, we haven't even seen the whole world yet!" and pointing to the BOTTOM RIGHT REGION he says, "This must be the edge of the world."
There are a number of ways you could interpret this, but I'm going to put all my money in saying, what we see in the picture above is ONLY the bottom right region. We can't even see death mountain or whatever. We only see the first mountain ranges in the mid-ground!

That's nonsense. ALBW had NPCs that gave tutorial, but talking to them was 100% optional. This new Zelda can do the exact same thing. In fact, with the open nature of this one, it can't really go any other way. Putting mandatory tutorials would be completely against the design philosophy of Zelda Wii U right from the start.
Yeah, but I always like to 100% my game. Although, Zelda is my favorite game serie, I don't usually replay it once I beat it.

Skyward Sword had NPCs that gave tutorials but talking to them was 100% optional... There are very few mandatory tutorials in SS.

I only remember the tutorial involving the cat thing and the sword tutorial being optional.
I may actually be mis-remembering and including some of Twilight Princess in there as well, which was overload. The entire first dungeon and then some was a tutorial.
Wait... there's no way they implement motion plus option. In SS everything was built around the wii mote plus.I would be in favor of that, actually. I think you misunderstood the sentiment of my post. Skywayrd Sword is the current standard (just regarding tutorials for a console Zelda game) and it needs to be and I'm sure will be improved, imo. If they have the Wii Motion Plus controls included, as others have indicated, they'll most likely be optional and not balanced for that as a whole. That's fine, because I want nothing to do with the Motion Plus controls, and that was what required the majority of tutorials.
Oh dayumftfy
Fi was still a piece of shit as a game mechanic. Never again.

She's pretty good in Hyrule Warriors though. I mean, she's no Impa, but not bad.Fi was still a piece of shit as a game mechanic. Never again.

How is she any different from midna or navi+Kaepora? Mechanically speaking?

I actually liked the role fi takes in the game.Fi was still a piece of shit as a game mechanic. Never again.

Midna and Navi don't repeat every single fucking thing an NPC just told you 5 seconds ago with bullshit like "According to my calculations, there is a 90% chance that this information will be useful to our quest bla bla bla."
Fi is excruciating as a companion and gameplay feature. She's perfectly fine in the narrative itself.
Midna didn't take 10 minutes to tell you that your hearts are low...
Well you could use Tales theorem, or even use the paralax to measure the distance, but my head hurts. About "determine the distance based on how much smaller it appears, right?" I dont think so, not if you dont know the angles involved, or you are using a telescopeWhat about using the bridge across lake hylia as a measuring stick?

I know Link doesn't get right up next to the thing but you can probably estimate how big it is and, assuming the tower across the lake is the same size, determine the distance based on how much smaller it appears, right? You can see the bridge on the map, so we know how long that length would be on the map and it's much bigger than trees.

When your hearts get low Fi beeps at you like 3 times and then stops. You don't have to talk to her. Overall the beeping sound effect they used in SS is possibly the least annoying low-health beep they've ever used.Midna didn't take 10 minutes to tell you that your hearts are low...
Yep, the problem with Fi is her overabundance of dialogue. Everyone knows this. The player does not need to be told there's a 90% chance that something is behind a door in a dungeon.
She has a damn good theme, though.
Basically it's not how frequently she opens her mouth... it that when she does... it seems to take forever before you can continue. And I think part of the reason it feel like forever is that her dialog is rote and computational so it's not really fun to read.
I feel the same way... well I feel the same way about more than everything videogame related. I play the game, get on here and people just hating like its the style.. It might be the style though lolI had no idea Fi was so hated until I entered GAF. I guess when people play through the games too fast, stuff like Fi can be very annoying.
I played SS during what were mostly 1 hour sessions and never felt annoyed by Fi. I even thought she was a bit funny! I can see how people can be annoyed, but to me it feels like a case of "I played way too much too fast so I got burnt out".

She's really no worse than midna, it's just that midna was a better character to talk to, imo.
I agree that Midna was a far better character, but I think something a lot of people missed is that Fi's calculations are meant to be amusing with how she tends to estimate things at less than 100% for things that you know are 100%,
Fi actually made me laugh a few times with the absurdity of the things she said. I think one of them involved asking if a kikwi was Zelda and if you catch a fairy in the bug net she estimates the possibility that it's a new kind of insect.
My analysis indicates a 90% chance
that this is a Fairy. I calculate a 10%
chance that this is a rare or previously
undiscovered insect.
Naaah... she also has a lot of unnecessary dialog, but the major problem people had with it I bet was that every time she told you something it paused gameplay. I think if you put mostBasically it's not how frequently she opens her mouth... it that when she does... it seems to take forever before you can continue. The map is not as big as Just Cause 2Can we go back to talking about the map?![]()
Since Link is right-handed in this one, they might. Though I doubt the game will be balanced for motion-controls, it will be an option.
