LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

Thinking about what Year 3 could have at all is kind of hard.
Year 3 is almost certainly going to have The LEGO Ninjago Movie. It probably was going to have The LEGO Movie Sequel in the last wave, though that's been delayed.

They still have some non-licensed LEGO themes they could use - Space and its children being the biggest but hardly the only one.

I'm still hoping for a continuation of the story from that teaser at the end of the credits, too...

Oh my goodness, I'm dying laughing right now. When playing as Sonic, put Lumpy Space Princess on the portal.

"Lumpy Space Princess, Huh? You know, last time I met a princess I...we..uh..I don't quite remember. NEVERMIND.

Hey, Bart! Remember, if you see a gold brick lying around, Just take it! Take it, take it, take it, take it! Take it!

I think we might see the CW DC shows in Dimensions. Would explain why we haven't gotten Flash yet, and why Supergirl and Green Arrow were exclusives.

Wii U version is decent if you don't have the more powerful systems. It does get really choppy at times when the framerate bottoms out, especially in the Adventure Worlds. I've read complaints that it has a lot of glitches, but the only bad one I experienced was playing the emulated arcade games in the Midway Classics pack. They had horizontal lines going through the screen which made it hard to see. I only played through about half the story levels and some of the Level Packs & Adventure Worlds before I got a PS4 and switched to that version. It runs far, far better on there.

Well, that’s about what I expected, but it’s good to know that it’s decent at least. I probably won’t get a new system for now (or until the Switch is released, but we don't know if there will be a version for it), so it is the only option for me at the moment. Thanks!

So patch 1.14 was available for download in the US yesterday. I started the download but did not apply it yet. In the meantime all my progress was reset on the Ghostbusters story levels and BA Baracus' master builder ability stopped working (I got yet another notification that I needed to download the updated fun pack when I tried to use it). Crossing my fingers that the new patch fixes all of this. It was pretty large - I believe 11GB.

Every patch is going to be that big, as it has to include all of the year 1 post-release content. (They don't do partial patches, only full ones.)

If we're talking LEGO-related stuff, let's get some LEGO Island in there. I'd buy a Brickster minifig.

I wonder if we will get a rehash of Ninjago for the movie next year. Updated suits, Dareth, Ronin, Skylor, all the villians...

We're getting Knight Rider - *anything* is on the table. Plus, the age of those fans is moving into the target area for this game. Mining the nostalgia isn't going to stop until we stop buying.

I'm still patiently waiting for my Growing Pains team pack with Mike Seaver and Boner.

Awesome. I still can't believe they had a character called Boner. Maybe they can do Doogie Howser and Perfect Strangers too.

I'm hoping for a Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure set with the phone booth. But... would it act like the Tardis or like the DeLorean?

Also, Muppets would be sweet.

And Stargate.

I hope this gets a Switch port... In particular I hope this gets a switch port with all the patches up to that point ON the cartridge so that it's future proof! I've been meaning to dive into the Portal, Sonic and Midway packs for a while and this would push me over the edge.

How would that work in portable mode? You'd have to carry the portal and minifigs with you?

TV is seriously under-served in the video game market and Dimensions could provide a platform for shows that wouldn't translate to a compelling game otherwise. Maybe we won't get 80s sitcoms but there's a ton of shows with cult followings that would seem to be easy targets like Stargate, Futurama, Buffy, etc.

I would probably kill for Arrested Development in Lego Dimensions. The adventure world basically designs itself.

Maybe this would finally force a "scan and remember" feature into the game. I can hope.

I guess the 3DS does work with amiibo so I'd assume the Switch will work the same way. There's no way Lego Dimensions doesn't show up on Switch - too much money to be made.

That would be nice, but if I had to guess my assumption would be that if Dimensions shows up on Switch at all, it would only work in console mode while the tablet is docked. I wouldn't assume they'd fundamentally rework the game to support one new hardware SKU. Particularly when it should function just fine when played on a TV anyway.

I think the Switch's USB ports are only on the dock, right? So yeah, no way it'd be portable.

Surely the Switch will have an NFC reader built in (since the new 3DS already does). It would just be a matter of whether TT wants to deal with designing a flavor of the game around that, or going with a docked-only policy.

I also assume that Nintendo will be placing restrictions on how many features a game can "lose" by going portable (or they might draw the line at a game not working unless docked). I imagine they discussed this thoroughly with their partners during development.

Having Chase McCain in Dimensions makes a lot more sense after the announcement that they're porting Lego City Undercover to Switch/PS4/Xbone. I remember people wondering if he'd be a Wii U exclusive character.

Bill & Ted would be an AMAZING Team Pack. So would Muppets. I know it'll never happen but it'd be so nice to get a Disney pack with Goofy in it, and the Adventure World would be the Magic Castle or even Disneyland (having STILL not played any Dimensions yet I don't know how large the Adventure Worlds are)

I imagine the priority for Disney collaboration is gonna be Star Wars, but hey, I'd love to see some Muppets for sure. Though only if Kermit et al don't have any legs. Muppets with lower halves is some gross shit.

Anyway, gonna throw this out there: Final Fantasy 7 should be Year 3's "video game" level pack. Cloud, his motorbike, a Chocobo. Boom.

I think we can expect more pack from Cartoon Network's show ... Maybe Dexter's Laboratory or Ben 10
I still can't believe that they didn't do story pack for DC Movies like Suicide Squad

Maybe a portable version could work like Disney Infinity on Vita, with a smaller and wireless portal.

Or like Skylanders on 3DS which not only has a snaller and wireless portal, but also lets people scan and same their figures.

Not much would need rework as rhe game already has a rental-like prompt, so that could display between rentals and owned, while minigames recquiring to move and switch figures in the base could be turned into QTEs.

I super enjoyed the Sonic pack over the weekend but I am dying for more Sonic minifigures. Legitimately disappointed you can't turn into more using Sonic :(

Keystone puzzles would still be an issue. How do you simulate moving characters from 1 side of the portal to the other?

The Egg Mobile would've been the 1st vehicle where changing forms actually made sense. But no, let's make Robotnik a big fig instead...

I realized i'm only one team pack and 3 fun packs away from having every Dimensions pack. I knew this would happen if I started in on it, i have no control over my ocd.

And god dammnit from what i'm reading the free GA pack isn't going to be available from Gamestop online. I really don't want to go out on BF and I loathe the idea of having to wait in lines again. I know what i'm going to end up doing though, I have chronic insomnia so i'm going to be up at at 3 am friday morning and i'm going to say screw it and go down there.

LOL, just think.. you probably bought a lot of the sets on sale. Think of all the money you've saved!

I agree on GA. I spent $30 for one on Ebay to avoid the Black Friday nonsense.

Yup. I was able to resist the urge to own this game when it first came out. But as soon as they released the Year 2 trailer, I knew I was done for. And now I'm buying sets I had no intention of ever buying.

Gamestop had some trouble with my credit card... Ordering the newest wave. Well, Amazon had it cheaper. I will not get the free Green Arrow figure, but I already have it and condidering the rumoured low suplly and "promotion while supplied last" I doubt I would get one...

The updated artwork of Supergirl in the Starter pack is just a stick. But if it does mot show in the image nor in its description I doubt it is the rught pack.

As far as I know, amiibo work on 3DS the same way they do on Wii U; no exceptions are made for its portability. Since amiibo often unlock one-time rewards and such, that's not an issue normally. However, the way Toys to Life work, you usually need to keep them in contact at all times, simply because otherwise you may borrow them / sell them / etc.

Of course, there's always the possibility that it might come as-is to the Switch, without allowance for portability, as it's also a living room machine. Thinking about this, I wonder what other things from other games might clash with the Switch's dual nature; it will be interesting to find out.

I wentt too couple off Gamestop this morning and both stores havee plenty off Green Arrow. One storee told me they gott inu overu a hundreds and I was the first person to even aski for it.

I went to my local Gamestops this morning as well. The first store didn't receive any figures. But the second store received 20. Very happy to have Green Arrow in my collection now. But I think I'll have to turn to eBay for Supergirl.

So, I just bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter and I. And was wondering which of the extra packs/sets are worth buying? I was thinking of getting the Fantastic Beasts set at least, but I want to get some other stuff as well.

The Fantastic Beasts & Ghostbusters (2016 version) are both "story packs" that let player play through the plot of the entire movie. They're the meatiest expansions to the main campaign. So I'd start with those and expand your collection if you want to keep playing after both packs and the main game.

And if you do want to keep going, get the "level packs".

Or wait. :p
Supergifl's official release is in 2017.

No. 2017 is when the exclusivity ends. No availability outside the PS4 starter and HIre-a-Hero has been officially announced.

Given how much of Traveller's Tales "Sony timed exclusive" DLC has turned out to be "Sony exclusive DLC" that never got a launch on other platforms, I would be surprised to see Supergirl available elsewhere.

Will Green Arrow forever be a promo?

I really doubt that both Supergirl and Green Arrow will be available at retail. Sure, once the exclusivity ends they will be available as hire-a-hero for the other platforms, but to go retail they will need to add another small build to each figure (like the fun packs). Lego does not have the right to sell only the figures.

Pretty sad that Best Buy now limited Gamer Club discount and it only apply to selected sale items. No more double discount on many of the sale. I am hoping that this is Black Friday sale only but I remember last year I got my Gamer Club discount on top of all the sale.

Okay guys, picked this up for Black Friday from Best Buy along with some sets. So in addition to Supergirl with the base set, I have: the Adventure Time Level and Team packs, the Scooby Doo team pack, the Level packs for Sonic, Simpsons, and then Midway Arcade on the way, as is the Gremlins Team pack. Oh, and I managed to get a Green Arrow promo from Gamestop thanks to getting something from there too.

So my first big question is this: I heard there's something with the various types of abilities possessed by characters that's important I think, in maybe gating stuff off in game? So if that's a concern, what am I most "missing" with the sets I got myself to start off? Like, are there any sets I should pick up for "utility" somewhat prioritized over just "hey, that looks neat!"?

Also, about the way the content is accessed: I got far enough to unlock the hub and built my team packs, which was simple enough. But I mainly did that to get stuff built, and I was planning to do play this mostly with friends (and I figure the building would be a bit slow for that). But apparently you need to play the level packs to actually unlock their basic build instructions? I'll give it a shot to some degree, but if I decide it's too tedious for doing with people over, is there a good resource for "cheating" the system and using online instructions to get the actual builds done ahead of time?

Oh, and in general, anything I should watch out for that I might be not expecting that could trip up just casually playing this with friends? The only other thing I'm thinking right now is, can I hop into the level pack levels right now, or do I need to wait till a certain point in the main story first?

Meijer had a Buy 1 Get 40% off another.
So I picked up Ghostbusters 2016 Story Pack and the Joker & Harley Team Pack (last one I needed for Year 1).
Still have 9 Fun Packs in Year 1 left. Plus a lot more of Year 2.

Dammit... Target and Black Friday got me. I bought the Ghostbusters Story Pack for 20 bucks today. I haven't seen the new movie, but I've heard the Story Pack is pretty good.

I also grabbed the Gremlins Pack for $15 and the E.T. Pack for $8. I'm a sucker for a good deal on some LEGO Dimensions.

Stuff that will give you new areas in levels:
* The Portal and Doctor Who level packs; the ASHPD and TARDIS give you access to additional (optional side-) areas. And the Doctor functions as a character with sonic ability (Marty McFly being the other.)
* Either of the Back to the Future packs; the DeLorean and train also unlock side areas.
* Aquaman: ditto

Stuff that I think is only useful for collectibles:
* A character with mind control, if you don't have this already. (Cyberman, Wicked Witch, Wonder Woman, or Voldemort.)
* A character with drone access. (Cyberman, Doc Brown, Ethan Hunt from the Mission: Impossible level pack)
* A-Team fun pack for Mr T.'s A-Team Master Build ability.

You have to play 1-2 levels of the story before you get into Vorton and have access to the portal. At that point you can start any level pack levels, although it's possible that you may want to wait until you've finished enough of the story to get all of the keystones just in case the keystone abilities are needed in the level pack.

Thanks for the rundown - just picked this up recently myself.

Got:
- Starter Pack w. Supergirl
- Doc Brown Fun Pack
- Mission Impossible Level Pack

Also picked up Sonic, Fantastic Beasts, and the Harry Potter Team Pack, but saving those for Xmas. Loving it so far!

My online Gamestop order is currently saying I should be getting 2 Green Arrow figures since I ordered two sets on Black Friday.

Even if I only get one I'll still be happy.

Black friday was great for dimensions for me. Got the Midway level, Sonic level and Harry Potter team pack all for 17,90/ 14,90 € each, so 30-50% off.

Great prices and my first year 2 sets. Excited :)
