The issue is progress, make sure you find a good routine that encourages progress even while doing bodyweight exercises. If you get in the habit of doing things like 100 pushups/situps a day, that's not going to help you at all. After a certain point you'll want to do things like handstands, jumping pushups, muscle-ups, etc.
If you're a beginner you can make a lot of progress doing bodyweight starting out. If you just want to put on a little muscle, you could probably do it as long as you eat plenty.So would weightlifting really get me much faster results than bodyweight training? In the end there's probably stuff I can do at home with some equipment.
