you mean , the indie labels killed it by selling out to the bigger boys? I'm guessing so if that's the case.

If not, please explain what you mean.
Aren't they (Oasis) parly responsible for the demise of Creation?

Did I say they were AS great as those albums? I said they are considered great albums, period. YOU may not like them. I'm sure there are people who don't like Abbey Road, but those people will probably realize that it's CONSIDERED a great album by many people and dickhead music critics. The same goes for DM and WTSM. Q magazine, a magazine who slated Oasis' last two albums, named Definitely Maybe the greatest British album of the last 20 years. I personally dislike Q Magazine. And I know you disagree, but don't deny that its considered a great album by MANY.

Ok, sorry, I misunderstood. I did think you were comparing the Oasis albums to those other albums, hence my strong reaction.

Yes, I can accept that some, even many people do consider those Oasis albums great, which is fine, though I obviously disagree. I don't take music critics' opinions very seriously though, surprisingly enough. Their intentions aren't always transparent, and they often have nostalgia/biases associated with certain bands. Though I guess it's the best barometer of an album's objective quality we've got at the moment. =/

Oasis have not released anything even decent in the last 10 years or so. They have no right to make fun of any bands considering how bland their music has become.

Sure they do. They're music fans, they dont like those bands' music, they're criticising them. You don't like Oasis and you criticise them. Sounds fair to me.

Creation rode Oasis' success and signed a lot of terrible bands. If anyone was responsible for Creations demise it was Alan McGee.

Don't really care, man. I think they're a horrible, horrible band, and I wish I'd never have to look at Liam's hideous face again.

oasis are headlining a Spanish (Valencia) music fest called Benicassim and the Kaiser Chiefs and Keane will be there (along with Kasabian who oasis have been very big supporters of). Could be interesting. :lol

It is obvious Definitely Maybe is perhaps the biggest album to come out of England in the past 10 years. Not only that, it was enormously influential. It reminds me a lot of Appetite for Destruction in that it came out of nowehere and had a huge impact on the music scene of it's home country. Oasis has not imploded like GnR has though.

There's no denying that Liam is a joke. But there's no denying the influence Oasis had on a generation.

I knew it¡¡ I don't have any kind of personality or criteria: I love Oasis (DM, WTSMG, I have e ven seen them twice) Blur, I tolerate Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand rock my house (check Daft Punk's remix of Take Me Out)...

DM was and still is a great record, and if not a great record, at least a HUGE collection of singles; WTSMG was cool as well; Be Here Now (first time I saw them they were touring for this record) was ok; Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, I didn't even bother to buy the album but I saw them for the second time while they were promoting it and it felt like they were not very happy with the record: it was my favourite gig ever, as they played most of DM, a really important album in my life (being a teen and all that, I was more a pop/techno-head than grungy); Heathen Chemistry? never payed too much atenttion to it.

PS: never forget Oasis B-sides; if you can put The Masterplan as a b-side...

I can't wait for Don't Believe the Truth to come out and knock people the fuck out. This is and will be the album of 2005 without question. It's received a 5-star review from the Observer who typically "slag off" on oasis already.

But that's all beside the point, this is just for laughing at Liam's quoteworthiness which hasn't diminished it's easy to see (whether you like the band or not).

The album of 2005, friend? That came out on Tuesday...

I loved Oasis (DM and WTSMG were fantastic records in my opinion), but since then they've went way downhill. This was like 8 years ago. The reason they sell out concerts worldwide is due to those two records and that's a fact.

I laughed when Meier called Matt from Bloc Party a git for giving an opinion (One which is 100% true and relevant), whereas when Liam slags a band due to their appearence or the way they look it's funny and it's 'Good old Liam'.

Oasis are living on former glories, whether or not some people are going to admit it is fine, but Oasis should seriously start to shut the fuck up and actually have some decent new music to back them up and not rely on those two albums.

Whether or not Don't Believe The Truth is that record, I don't know.

Liam's a cock, get over it. Despite that, nay because of that, he has some of music's funniest quotes to his name. The music industry would be a much worse place without him and Noel's humour. they are the highlight of the Live Forever film by far.

And to the people who say that Oasis are shit I find that difficult to understand. You may not like their type of music but for what they are they are probably the best in the world. They have some of rocks greatest songs to their name; Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, Supersonic.

Sorry but listening to Definitely Maybe while drunk is still like taking a ride in a rocketship. Anyone who would prefer to listen to 'Crazy Beat' is certifiably a dumbass.
"Crazy Beat" is a weak spot, not an entire album or a defining statement for Blur. Blur as a band has always been more interesting and innovative than Oasis will ever be, and if you can't accept that, you're a retard.

I don't know. Hearing someone say that Oasis is better than the band that gave us Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife, The Great Escape, and 13 sort of makes me want to cry.

Usually, the "if you disagree with my opinion, you're a retard" argument always flops on its face. For once though, enjoy bell woods is able to use it amazingly effective, and it probably is the only way to combat people who would dare equating Blur and Oasis, as bands on the same level. Hell, I'll take these copy cats of 80's music over Oasis. At least they're copying bands (Gang of Four, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc.)) that don't get imitated all that often.

Another case against Oasis holding the title of greatest Britpop band of the '90s.

If anything Oasis released approaches the greatness of I Should Coco, please inform me.

I'll believe it when I hear it. The last 3 CD's were average at best. I absolutely loved Definately Maybe and Morning Glory, but after that it was middle of the road material to my ears.

I've heard the new single from Oasis and it sounds like more of the same so far...

oasis are STILL the biggest rock band in Europe and have devotes fans worldwide for a good reason -- their music resonates with countless people.

Now, I know that muscial tastes are all subjective and it's obvious that you absolutely love Oasis, but to claim Oasis is the biggest rock band in Europe just doesn't seem very believable to me. I need some facts to back up that they have more fans then say U2.

You're right, U2 could definitely challenge them. No other band, even Coldplay who may end up selling more copies of their upcoming album, can sell out a show nearly as fast as oasis. Chris Martin is an absolute fanatic of Noel's and climbed up a set of speakers and the like after he saw Noel in a balcony during the middle of their set -- just to give him a hug. After that, they went on to cover Lyla to boot.

U2, Coldplay, and Oasis all have something in common, and that's that they're all boring.

Who cares about their ability to sell out shows when their music is so bland? That's just a nonpoint, dude.

For sure -- it's his schtick. Hell, I doubt he even believes half the shit he says, but he knows it will get a rise out of people. "My Big Mouth" was no coincidence. To put it in perspective so a Super Furries fan like bell woods can understand, Liam typifies the mindset of a man who just "don't give a fuck."
