Lies of P: Overture will be shadowdropped today

There is a miniboss late into the dlc so difficult I had to beat the nameless on ng+ for the status effect immunity amulet just to stand a chance. Nothing in the main game comes close,. I wonder what comes next

No shit. The developers obviously purposely released the DLC after pulling it. So it forces millions of gamers to buy the base game and the dlc. It is scummy as hell. If I have the save file, I should be able to access the DLC. This is pure greed
Oh no, you're having to pay for a game you enjoyed to play content that requires it 🙄

This game still looks so good.

Finally entered the DLC and the deformable snow (not soaked in blood) is a nice touch.

Many of these corrupted animals are actually less terrifying than their wild counterparts.

Tested Killer Attack on some dlc bosses with the new upgrades and amulet

Got up to 29k damage from the front
Should be able to do more if I had an extra Fable slot filled

You made Veronique look like a regular enemy on NG3+. I had to dance around like crazy and abuse Puppet String just to beat her on NG. Then again, I told myself I would not use Puppet Axe Blade and Baton Handle on this playthrough.

Remember you can select dlaa override in the nvidia app so 4k is real 4k and looks very clean compared to quality dlss.

On pc obviously.

Still making my way through it, hard to pull myself away from Nightreign. Beat another major boss last night, I'm in the area with ships... I do have a criticism with the pacing of the DLC. Seems like you explore for 5 minutes before encountering yet another boss and proceed to spend the next 20-30 minutes in frustration trying to put it down. Make no mistake, these are some of the toughest bosses in the entire game. Luckily the designs have mostly been god-tier though, ditto the new weapons, I'm currently running around with Squall's Gunblade 💯💯💯

This DLC has my favorite area in the game. The Carnival!
TqtdJvi.jpg

It has carnival games with prizes and a Ferris wheel. It even has a Merry Go Around that is unfortunately incorrectly implemented but I will let it slide. Also has my favorite NPC and toughest mini boss. I would appreciate it if this area and zoo were not filled with so many bodies as it is too morbid given how cool they are. The new bow really complements these areas.

It is too bad the game takes a detour to elaborate laboratory prison, mines/ruins complex, and icy ship battleground afterward that greatly overstay their welcome (not pictured). It does not really regain its narrative footing until the fishing village which leads directly to Rose Estate (which is relatively empty with the exception of a cool library area with secret passages).

I have some issues with the main bosses in this unfortunately. Several tend to zoom around the stage and do prolonged combos while barely giving any time to strike. The last one in particular takes a page from Erdtree Radahn in phase two. Some area mini-bosses also have absurd health and fighting them feels like waiting for paint to dry. My least favorite enemies in this DLC take a page from Sonic The Hedgehog though. The farther you are from them the faster they will spin attack your ass and any attempts to create distance are fruitless. Those are minor complaints relative to the quality of content present for such a reasonable asking price but are worth considering for future iterations.

P.S. There is a Black Rabbit hideout near the entrance of the Carnival and if you do not use one of the keys on it you will miss out on a full set of Black Rabbit Brotherhood clothes as the costume inside has one of the keys.

DLC 100% complete, actually had to start a 4th playthrough to do the DLC a second time due to screwing up painter sidequest and missing that record (never use a guide 1st playthrough). Genuinely great DLC but not without some rough spots, will be back with some more thoughts after I've let it marinate a bit.

I beat the DLC the other day, and I loved it! Only had trouble with Veronique, she tore me up more than any other boss in the DLC.

It all was masterfully done, and I can't wait for Lies of P 2 (which I hope they're working on now).

I'm about halfway thru the dlc I suspect. I went in blind. I have most of the new weapons. I'm on NG+.

I'm currently on the boss where you have to jump off mid elevator ride and fight in its lair. It looks like a frog.

1. The new weapons and upgrades are incredible. Specifically the broom style weapon that you ride. Basically slap the bit that looks like a flathead and does crit damage on that thing and you get a pretty incredible weapon that can run, has an incredible range on heavy R2, has a crit buff that is much quicker than the one applied by the nameless puppet weapon. There are several other great combos and all the boss weapons are great. Specifically they added stuff people asked for. Faster run? Broom weapon. Ranged attacks with stam? Bow. Fire, poison, and Lighting weapons better than anything in the game? Check. Exploding weapons? Check. Spinning weapons. Check. More traditional buffs. Possible now with weapons. Jump attacks? Set the pinwheel weapon up, then roll, while tapping quick attack, you will jump attack now. They even added jumping off elevators halfway thru and a pit area where you have to fall down and not die like the sewers in elden ring.
2. The bosses are no joke. They are not slow anymore and you cannot get away with dodging only unless you have the equipment on for it(survival amulet new in xpak, and amulet that let's you dodge red, and perhaps also the new amulet that buffs your attack after successful dodge.
3. The new porgan buffs create an interesting dichotomy after you get about 50 quartz. It is no longer ideal to fill out all porgans for meta but rather which ones to buff first. This is super fulfilling at the end game and during a first playthru I bet this would add some interesting decisions.
4. All the new shit you find that isn't a direct battle upgrade is also fun. Like a collar and bell for your kitten.
5. Did I mention the kitten?

I officially give this game a 10 out of 10 and it stands up to any other linear soulslike and probably beats them just because of the ambiance in the hotel. Perfect game almost. Xpak added so much replay not necessarily because of the content but because of the weapons. This could be said and while I do not 100% agree, it is very close: Every weapon in the xpak is better than any weapon in the main game. These new weapons have higher overall stat allocations(by this I mean the item score is higher the buffs that are ranked and scored and applied for balance have been given a couple of extra points on each of these weapons and they are intentionally overbalanced(even if only slightly in some cases) and outpace the normal weapons in most circumstances. Sure you can slap the crit dagger on the street sign and still fare well but some of the xpak weapons are insane. Xpak armor I've found has been superior to ng+ counterparts by a good amount. It's great honestly. Really good stuff. Lies of P also has the best new game + I've ever seen. By end of NG you are not really that strong. The power scaling actually gets BETTER after NG0. I've never played a game besides Elden Ring, Diablo 2-4, Nioh 2, WoW, BG3, or Destiny 2 where I'm 100 hours in and still getting major upgrades at every intended upgrade location.

I still think that Police Baton handle with Live Puppet Axe blade can beat the damage output of anything in the DLC. The Scythe and Katana weapons in the base game were also really versatile even if their damage output is less impressive. A lot of the DLC amulets and gear are not very specialized like base game equipment. The biggest game changer is the bow as it changes battle strategy from getting in for a hit to avoiding and whittling down a foe. NG+ only really adds more music. To get any benefits from P-Organ system you would really need to NG++. The best NG+ content I have ever seen is in Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins. It adds new missions, new jobs, new weapon customization, new buffs, new bosses, and even summons. On top of it SoP:FFO strategy changes from hit and run tactics to rushing enemies down and hitting them hard and fast while regaining MP used for a temporary state of invincibility.

P.S. I really like how I could buff P-Organ perks with DLC.

Question.

If I haven't played since the game came out in 2023 and I'm a bit rusty, should I start a new game from the beginning and learn how to play again or should I just jump right into the DLC?

Just dive in as everything about the DLC requires a slightly different approach. You can access the DLC once you fight your way back to the hotel a second time (receiving DLC access item) or once you have access to Chapter 5 in an NG+ run. The DLC stargazer is close to first stargazer in Chapter 5.

The enemies of the DLC are a bit tougher, but nothing worth replaying the whole game for (unless you really want to). You'll get back into the swing of things. And if it's too tough you can always drop the difficulty.

lol no that's my phone. I'd say around 20 hours? Maybe even longer, some bosses were major roadblocks
Season 9 What GIF by The Office

The giant gator and final boss took me about 10 tries each but it was pretty smooth sailing otherwise. One boss attempt to find their phase two gimmick and another to deal with it. I will admit that the optional carnival jester mini-boss kicked my ass almost as much as those two though.

Yeah. Gator was rough but Lumacchio was insanely hard on release. That's the one I meant earlier in the thread, way harder than the final boss imo. I'm hearing some stuff got nerfed since then

Did you just go out of your way to parry stuff? The shield and shotgun arms with any hard hitting weapon made quick work of him for me. This was the case even before the patch.

Yeah, to the point I could almost nohit the first phase breaking his weapon consistently, but then phase two happens and its over in 10 seconds, very hard to read spins where like only his left hand has a hitbox, plus weapon broken in an instant with zero time to grind. I mean I made it eventually but to me the final boss was a cakewalk in comparison. I sort of minmaxed in technique so didn't play with heavy weapons, mostly talons, boss swords and my base game cheese fav bonecutter+booster glaive

Is scummy because they don't give it to you for free?! Just buy it if you want to play it. Is quite cheap
