Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

That makes it sound like it won't be Grisaia or Fault since they've already been porting those for a long while (with no mention of Mighty Rabbit), which would be a massive shame since those are probably the two I care about most. I guess Planetarian is a possibility since that was on PSP/PS2 already, but with Key not partnering with Sekai any more that seems unlikely.

What, not Grisaia? I hope that gets a physical release too.

I hope we get Clannad. I have no idea how realistic that is.

edit: I should say though, this is absolutely fantastic news and I'm thrilled to hear of the possibility of more VN's on Vita, and physical too.

Better be goddam Grisaia.

They weren't porting them for a long while. They just started porting them a few months ago. They could port the rest.

Now this a lot more crazy news than I expected to wake up to. LRG/Mighty Rabbit will port Ren'Py to Unity so their VNs can be ported to pretty much any console.

Although that does make me wonder if Sekai has actually done any porting work at all until now.

Anyway, exciting!

I disagree with this. It's just not worth the time or effort to trade or sell used games.

So the appeal of having the games outweighs the appeal of exchanging them for money or goods. People who don't value games as something worth keeping see more appeal in selling or trading them.

They didn't specify whether it would be shown at the actual press conference, so it might just be an announcement on the PS blog, but they said that Sony was really supportive and wanted to announce it themselves... I don't want to get my hopes up, but maybe they will give LRG a bit of time at the conference during their indie segment? :p
and announce a physical release of Yakuza 5 with it

Wow, if Sony is actually getting involved in the announcement that's a big deal for LRG. I don't think they're doing their PS Livecast tomorrow, so it may actually get a mention during the press conference. I'm excited to see what's announced.

Valuing your time too much to mess with EBay or GameStop doesn't make games a desirable collectible. That's what I'm trying to say with the previous post.

There are plenty of people that don't fit your black and white definition. I suppose the word likely leaves some wiggle room in your original post.

I think that's usually called laziness. It takes no time at all

With Gamestop, I could agree with you, as you could just stop at one on your way home from work/school. But I can see his point in not wanting to bother with eBay. I wouldn’t want to bother with trying to sell a game through eBay. You need to set up a seller’s account as well as the information (usually including pictures) to sell the game. Then package it up and send it to the buyer.

It’s more than I would want to deal with. I have used “I sold it on eBay!” a couple of times, for my more expensive collectibles that I no longer wanted, but I would never do it myself because I just don’t want to bother.

If he truly doesn’t want to keep the game, what I have done sometimes is sell it to Half Price Books, who do take video games. You’ll get peanuts for it, but if you are just looking to get rid of it, it is better than throwing it out.

However, I do agree with him that just because you keep a game, doesn’t automatically make you a ‘collector’. Someone could hold onto their games just in case they want to revisit them again. As I said in my prior post, I feel a true collector is someone who tries to preserve the value of the item, and would usually keep the item sealed.

That's collecting. Continuing to do so results in a collection. Comic collectors read their comics too.

I wasn't saying you can't be a collector and play, but you are also not pigeon-holed as being a collector just because you hold onto games for your own reasons, as well.

It isn't one or the other, collector or non-collector, there can be several variables involved.

But this is getting to be off topic, let's get back to LRG. :)

Another variable is being a pack rat who's too lazy to do anything with their stuff after they're done with it and have no intention of going back to it. Collectors are usually one in the same with people who hold onto their games to eventually play through them again. There's also a small amount of collectors who just like to collect and never actually do anything with most of their collection, thinking that it will hold value later on down the line or they just have some sort of issue that goes beyond collecting.

Being a collector isn't a bad thing like you're seeming to make it out to be, there's more than one type of collector. The type that people are talking about is the kind that collects with the intent to play, not the pack rat type or the type that has an issue they possibly need to seek help on. If you hold onto your games for an extended period of time, with the intent to replay, there's a high chance you consider yourself a collector.

Sorry, wasn’t trying to indicate being a collector as a bad thing to be. Not at all. My point was just that I feel collector isn’t a black or white label.

I’ve never viewed myself as a ‘collector’, as I don’t go out of my way to collect obscure or expensive games. Or, I don’t purchase multiple copies to keep one sealed. I purchase one copy (even if on different systems) to open and play, although I do appreciate the games I have and rarely have gotten rid of any.

So I guess in your definition I am a collector, and I am ok with that.

The makers of Nuclear Throne haven't even released the promised patch for Vita/PS4 cross saving yet. How long has it been, 4 months? :(

Hope you guys were able to cut some deals, take some names this week.

LRG needs to get that Nintendo partnership going!
If they somehow got a magical Nintendo partnership going: Please, get BoxBoy and Pushmo and Crashmo and Dillon and Fatal Frame and especially Earthbound Beginnings too.

Such a partnership wouldn't happen though. :(

Its actually been like 6 months. I remember the game being launched during PSX 2015 in December. I also bought it then. I still havnt beaten the game because of the crashes.

Nuclear Throne falls between the border of "obviously I'm buying this" and "ehhh not interested" for me, so I think for that reason I probably will try and get it at least just in case :p

Octodad this Sunday! \o/

They should consider announcing games way earlier than what they're doing now.

I'd like to know if it makes sense to wait on buying a game if it's gonna end up published by LRG later down the line.
Like in this case with Caligula, they showed interest in it, so I'm not gonna buy it digitally, but what if they'll never publish it?
Same with, for example, Severed or Ray Gigant. Are they happening? I'm waiting because I'm hopeful they'll happen but if I just keep waiting I might lose interest eventually. And no, I don't have that much money to waste on "double dipping".

We also need Gurumin (3DS), LRG should get in touch with Mastiff.

They need to start releasing games on Nintendo platforms first.

Thing is, they announce some things wayyyy in advance (YIIK; Volume by the looks of it). I assume it's beneficial to some of these devs to get people to buy digitally and then again physically, but equally they may get people holding off too.

Gurumin is a bad game.

I don't think they'd be too affected by announcing a game early, this kind of news doesn't reach the majority of their audience.
