LRG just RT'd this: https://twitter.com/sekaiproject/status/740637173079244801

While on the topic of Bandai Namco, God Eater: Resurrection is not getting a physical release in English anywhere in the world. That's a far bigger crime than Ray Gigant being digital-only in my personal opinion, and likely a bigger seller too.
Nah, it's just a remaster of a 2011 game that got a physical release, that is literally being given away for free with GE2, I wouldn't put it on the same level as Ray Gigant, which is the only Experience game that didn't get released physically.

That being said, a slow drip is usually better from a marketing perspective :p

Depends. Right I'm pretty much waiting for the niche Japanese titles to get announced. So a slow drip of titles that I and others might not be interested in, wouldn't exactly work. A huge list with a "something for everyone" feel, can help instead of waiting with only 2 releases or so announced at a time.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Just because they're announced all at once doesn't mean they'd release all at once.

I've been so thoroughly underwhelmed by the games they've announced so far that I think I'm more likely to lose interest than anything, at this rate. I love the idea, but they've gotta announce some of the good stuff.

what do you consider 'good stuff'? If it is stuff from bigger studios, you are most likely SOL.

God Eater Resurrection is remade with the God Eater 2 engine and the difference is very significant. I don't know about the other people here but I bought Oddworld and plan to buy multiple upcoming games in spite of getting them free with PS+. For me the entire point is "physical copies", not "games I don't own". If it was about "games I don't own" then I could just buy the games in some Humble Bundle or flash sale.

Ray Gigant frankly doesn't look like it's on the same level. Many people will put God Eater Burst as a top 10 PSP game (Example: 3 mentions in 24 posts on a general board). I doubt I will ever see anyone do the same with Ray Gigant and the Vita.

I actually like the idea of covering niche titles that otherwise wouldn't have gotten a physical release. At the same time, LRG probably needs to build up a bigger reputation before bigger developers decide to sign up. I think people should stay realistic what to expect.

To be honest, most of the bigger indie devs have probably been approached by tons of publishers already, yet some simply don't feel interested in it because they can get more income from staying digital only, like Supergiant Games. Smaller indies are much more likely to sign up because they have lower costs and don't necessarily think business first.

Oddworld, Volume, Soldner X-2 and Cosmic Star Heroine are the great stuff. Looking forward to even more dream come true stuff, though.

Honestly, I just want to know which Japan Devs signed on with them.

Tempering my expectations with SP. I don't want to be disappointed again.

This.

You are not going to see deals for big titles as either the publisher is going to take care of their own physical copies or they won’t care enough to broker a deal for someone else to do so.

What you will see through LRG is the more niche titles. And I’m ok with that, as there are plenty of niche titles out there that deserve, and that I want, physical copies for.

25? Shit son. If I can ever work out how to actually get a copy, LRG are going to get so much of my money lol.

(So long as they're still releasing Vita versions!)

I would buy a retail release of Styx: Masters of Shadows. Or, if that's not possible, a Styx: Shards of Darkness PS4 physical copy.
Just saying ;)

I can kind of understand, a lot of what they've been doing are smaller titles and PS+ games that don't really warrant physical releases outside of being collectable.

Edit: when I say smaller I mean literally in terms of file size.

yeah, saying that a game doesn't "really warrant physical releases" is nonesense and exactly what LRG is trying to change.

They're giving games a physical release that normally wouldn't get one. It's very strange to me to complain about the selection.

If you're losing interest in the project because they're not catering exactly to you, well sucks for you I guess.

I wonder if people understand the main appeal of what it is they're trying to do.

The thing is you can prefer physical media without being a collector.

I view someone who purchases video games as only collectibles is they don’t open the packaging, it remains sealed so it doesn’t lose its value.

I have always preferred physical media, and always will. And I don’t purchase the games as true collectibles. I do admit I sometimes admire having a hard-to-get copy on my shelf, but I mainly purchase to play them.

Where I agree with you that no one should expect to see AAA titles here through LRG, you can also prefer purchasing physical media and not be a collector.

Unless you're selling these games after you beat them, or waiting to trade them in for PS5 or something, you're likely collecting them.

A Steamworld Dig/Heist double pack would be cool, just thinking about it. Though I guess they'd have to make a separate splash screen for two separate games which I'm led to believe is a lot of extra work.

So they are partnering with Mighty Rabbit Studios and Limited Run Games to bring several of their titles to the PS Vita and the PS4 (they confirmed cross-buy). If I understood it correctly, Mighty Rabbit will actually be in charge of the porting while LRG does the physical releases for both platforms. They didn't name any title yet, but the first one will be announced by Sony tomorrow.

Whattttt?

That makes it sound like it won't be Grisaia or Fault since they've already been porting those for a long while (with no mention of Mighty Rabbit), which would be a massive shame since those are probably the two I care about most. I guess Planetarian is a possibility since that was on PSP/PS2 already, but with Key not partnering with Sekai any more that seems unlikely.

They didn't specify whether it would be shown at the actual press conference, so it might just be an announcement on the PS blog, but they said that Sony was really supportive and wanted to announce it themselves... I don't want to get my hopes up, but maybe they will give LRG a bit of time at the conference during their indie segment? :p
and announce a physical release of Yakuza 5 with it
