Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

I just checked my confirmation email from Fangamer for Shovel Knight Vita. You know how much they charged me for shipping? $4. Really makes iam8bit look scummy.

One is based in the US, the other is based in the UK. Both companies still practice ridiculous shipping rates to my country, which is why I appreciate LRG's $10 shipping even better.

Anyways, regarding today's release, my feedback:

- Zero issues on adding to cart, and at least in my experience all three games were up at the same time, so I checked out without a problem!

- The approach to adding the soundtracks is still a work in progress. I'm not sure what the solution is. Bundles obviously were not working well with Soldner last time, so I don't think that should return. I actually think adding the soundtracks in different days or different times ain't a bad idea. I know people will complain about paying for two shipments instead, but let's be real: When three games and two soundtracks are listed, is it really recommended that you risk adding all five to your cart before checking out? So I think LRG is going in the right direction with how to list the soundtracks too.

Overall, two thumbs up :)

Please please reveal the September release today! I need my fix.

Yeah I heard their shipping can be rather slow but you can't beat $4 international shipping. Paid that to Germany as well

I'm fine with LRGs shipping as well though since I usually order more than one and they take care of customs

Yeah, I don't mind LRG's shipping either. It can be a bit slow for me but it's cheap and I get my stuff.

I thought North American orders of Rez were supposed to be shipped from the US?

And shitty if even Fangamer's shipping is expensive for your country.

So no chance that LRG will have a EU warehouse will they? The delivery prices are way expensive

Keep in mind the company is only a few people and their NA 'warehouse' is someone's home.

So I wouldn't ever count on a warehouse in EU.

International shipping is actually relatively cheap for LRG. I believe the system they have set up they charge $10. But don't quote me on that number.

Looks like REZ only sold 500 copies in the last two hours
First number is from 15 minutes after launch
It seems there is an inventory quantity for Rez which is currently in the 6500 range.
Did anyone catch what it was at the start?

Just checked quantities left (visible in source code):

I also just realized that they didn't even give us the final art for REZ, or tell us if it will have a manual, or... anything, really.

They just plopped it up for $40 and charged $12 for shipping :/

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt here, but at this point it's quite literally the equivalent of a $60 game for anyone that buys from Amazon Prime or Best Buy GCU, and we don't know anything about what the actual physical release is like.

Manual will be $15 extra

Expertly researched, lots of passion.

Rez selling worse than RCR reprint.
That $40 price point to blame?

I do wish I had checked stock yesterday/this morning.

I didn't even know about the RCR reprint. Are the gold covers still available? Says first 3000, and page source says there's 650 left.

$15 for the UK but yeah it makes sense tax and all just saying if there was an EU warehouse it would've more than half'd it

It's currently available for pre-order so there shouldn't be a set timeframe for availability. I believe the inventory number was pulled from the Shopify system so there's a chance the game will become unavailable completely if the print is limited and they sell out the entire stock.

Ok I get it now. It's cool that some can dig into source code like this :)

I really don't know if I should buy it. It's way above my psychological price. It's almost a "normal" retail game at this point if you include the shipping, and I almost never buy these day one.

Plus the game has received very polarized reviews and seems super short. I'm not even sure I'll like it.

Though choice.
But that's cool if at least it exists and we get to choose.

what

REZ has a 89 metacritic and is a timeless classic. One of the best game/experiences ever made. Playing it in VR will be a life-changing experience.

It's an "arcade" style game and supposed to be replayed, that's why it's "short"

Got Rainbow Moon for the Vita earlier today. First time on LRG, and it all went smoothly. Shizuka sent me a text reminding me so I was prepared, but the site loaded quickly and there was no problem throught.

Hoping LRG brings Spelunky next!

Actually you're right. The French press hated it for a reason, but players rate it well and there's also a lot of love on Metacritic.
My bad.

I rarely replay my games though. Maybe this one could be different.

Will you buy it yourself ?

If you're worried about the cost of Rez just go for the digital release which will be cheaper and we don't even know that the physical release will come out at launch. On top of that it probably won't have a manual.

That's the reason I'm not buying it. Gonna be $50-55 US with shipping which is $65-70 CAD. I got 2 games from LRG today for almost the same price. Plus idk if I trust this other website from the posts I've read from them.

I'll buy it in some form, definitely. Not 100% convinced about physical yet but I'll probably cave

It's unlike anything else I've ever played

I won't say it's a game for everyone though. It's different.
or maybe it's just that no one cared about rez on ps2
no one cared about rez on 360
and no one cares about rez in vr

yeah that's wrong
Playing Rez is like listening to a great album.

It's endlessly replayable.
Yeah pretty much. It's something you do every now and then just because it's so good.

I don't know about you but I find it hard to invest in a digital game when I know I "might" buy the physical version in the future ^^

Do they (iam8bit) usually charge when you preorder or when they send the product ?

That Shizuka sure is a great guy!

Remaining stock just hit 5899

ouch...

I think they should've waited to do this until it was closer to when the game actually came out. There would've been a lot more hype for the game. Either way this is a bad look when LRG is cleaning house right next door.

they charge you now. idk, I'm sure when it comes I'll be happy but i feel like i just wasted $40 right now.
I actually really like that about it. I don't have to try and memorize that 40 bucks will disappear from my account unexpectedly in the future. I can look at my balance and it is what it is. A surprise will show up in the mail and by then I won't feel guilty about wasting the money any more.

All that though, is provided that they deliver, and offer refunds if something goes wrong and they can't.

It's exactly what LRG always said

No strict limitation (I don't believe the 6k is all they have and they didn't say anything to that extent) and an open early pre-order just doesn't make it that desirable. Price doesn't help either.

I think a LRG release for $30 would have sold through 5k copies in a flash

I'm sure it'll sell fine in the long run, but it definitely doesn't have the same hype

It only proves a poorly made preorder doesn't work ;)
No strict limitation of the number of copies, no time limit, poor level of information, no hype... This is just not well managed so far :s

Yeah, but who cares about RCR? Rez is at least a good game.

I read only good things about RCR so far. I'm seriously considering a purchase of this one.

It is a different business model. When I know I can still order in a month there is no need to rush.

OK, the Rez pre-order has been live for nearly 5 hours and it's at 5865 copies remaining. So less than 1000 copies have sold since the initial quantity check which happened shortly after the pre-orders went live.

Do they reprint games? SC and Rainbow Moon are already sold out. I would like to give them my money but they won't let me.

There is a second lot of both Rainbow Moon and Shadow Complex going live in about 50 minutes, they will most likely sell out fast (well, at least Rainbow Moon on the Vita will).

And no - once these games sell out they are gone for good and you'll have to stoop to eBay to acquire copies of any you missed :(

Thanks for the heads up. I set up an account so i'll try to grab them.

I still wonder if there's any extra soundtracks available, too. I'll still come check in 45 mins.

You need to be literally be pressing F5, add to cart immediately, and check out. Your copy isn't guaranteed until you click check out, it's not when you add to the cart.

Add a payment method right now or log in to PayPal to save time.

How do I add a payment method? I could only find a way to add addresses.

i wouldn't worry about it really. set an alarm for 5:59, make sure you have anything else you want (they sell replacement cases too!) in your cart, and make sure you checkout right after adding it to your cart. you should be okay.

So once I get to check out, I'm safe and don't have to rush entering payment info?

Nice that they have replacement cases! I have a couple games with beat up cases from Gamestop (ugh)

Holy shit, I didn't even know the ps4 version of RCR got a reprint. I'm on that right now.

Also seems a lot of people just don't like the people that are selling Rez, while Limited Run Games stuff is in such demand I'm sure games from them would sell out just to resellers alone if given the chance.
