Can I just go around making OT's like this? I don't even know...

LISA is a post apocalyptic 2D horror-comedy about sacrifice and pain in a bleak world in which all woman have disappeared for some reason.

So I've been following this game for a while and I realized that it was just released yesterday. I'm considering clearing out my steam wallet and buying it purely based on the trailer but I before I do, I'm curious as to whether or not a single gaffer might have happened to play the game and can let me know if it's any good?

If I don't hear anything bad I think I'll just go for it because look at this god damn trailer:

I've played about 5 hours.

I sincerely regret deciding to not fund this on Kickstarter. I still bought it but I'd like to have been at least part of the reason this got made.

Don't get me wrong, it has it's issues, but it is an incredibly dark story told masterfully with comedy out the wazoo and incredibly hard decisions that are very important to how the game turns out.

Like...it's good. Really good.

Im really wishing this was on 3ds/vita. these games always felt right on mobile even if I only play them indoors

i already love this game. i'm an hour in and it's bleak but really interesting and well done.
 
Any more impression? Extra money is super tight in the games department for now And wanted to grab an indie game with it. Strider caught my eye but then I saw this....daaaamnit
 
I played a few hours when the game was in beta. It's a really brilliant RPG.

RPS's article makes me sad. The key/gamepad binding is flawed, but the writer seems to want the game to hold their hand. Movement and interaction is pretty intuitive.
 
man there seems to be a bit of a weird heavy Earthbound influence as well, like an adult Earthbound lol

Gonna buy it, will give impressions after a bit of play

I won't be reviewing it for obvious reasons, but I dig it. Yeah, it's got technical issues at the moment, but I didn't find it as bad as RPS did. The game itself is funny in a disturbed way, and the combat is pretty fun. Very much one of those games you'll either "get" or really, really not.
 
What's your involvement Jim? Just a cameo?

Edit: Oops, in the video you say you have a small cameo in it haha. Nevermind then, question answered :P
 
I have to agree with the UX disaster comments, I got a copy to review, the actual content of the game seems cool and what I expected, but the direct input mapping is really awkward, game crashed a couple times, and has some stutter which is apparently RPG maker's fault. Game also let me walk off a cliff and die before the first save point, after which I had to mash X through the long intro again, wasn't exactly happy about that.

Plays best with KB/M as it's the only way to get sensibly mapped controls for now, won't respond to d pad input on an Xinput style controller it seems.

FWIW the combat system seemed pretty cool, much more animated than your average RPG maker game, already displays a good mix of humor, horror/disgust early on. Hopefully it's improved on the technical side as that's the only fault I've found thus far, but I haven't gotten as far as I intended due to the issues either. It's not impossible to play, but it's also much more frustrating than it should be.

A bit OT but I can't resist hocking it, anyone who likes this would probably also dig Off by Mortis Ghost, much more horror, much less humor, but I think people who like LISA and Earthbound would life OFF (it's free and doesn't have the technical issues of LISA's current release)

I've put a good 6 or 7 hours in to the game so far and it's rapidly becoming a late entry into my top games of the year. After spending about 20 minutes trying to get the game pad controls sorted and working how I wanted I've never looked back.

The writing is excellent, being both laugh out loud funny and seriously heartbreaking and unsettling, and playing around with different fighters and learning their attacks has been great. The game can also be brutal and downright cruel at times, so save as often as possible.

I'd highly recommend this game to any RPG fans, or anyone looking for a game that's messed up in the best possible way.
 
the game is really good so far. im 2 hours in. one good thing about getting a game that no one has heard of is that i cant cheat by finding a walkthrough, but on the other hand...

also, since armstrong style seems to always be more useful than outright picking abilities, i made a combo list for brad to keep open in a notepad window:

Buster Punches : WWS - 3 SP
Fire Ball: WSD - 10 SP
Fire Ball 2: WDD - 15 SP
Surprise Attack: DDA - 5 SP
Head Slice: SDDS - 20 SP
Drop Kick: DWWA - 10 SP
Tackle: DDW - 15 SP
Machine Gun Fist - WAWA - 15 SP
 
so it's finally out? I love the settings and the characters, i'm gonna play this ASAP, it's the perfect game for my Xmas vacations :O
 
Been playing this on-and-off since it came out. It has a really rough start but once you get the bike and level up a bit it's a slightly smoother ride.

Also the combination of Bernie + Nern in battle is stupidly good. Raise up Bernie's TP, start off with oiling + blinding enemies when possible, go nuts for several turns.
 
Saw the game's updated a couple times, anyone know why? Has it been stable lately? Been wanting to jump back in but a bit busy until this weekend. Was hoping the issues might be better and/or my crash was a fluke.

From what I know some glitch fixes, also apparently made the first part a little easier so people don't die instantly as much now.
