LISA |OT|

Just finished this game – legitimately one of the best games I've played in the last few years. I hope it continues to sell at whatever word of mouth pace it takes, as it deserves more than 2 pages on GAF.

you're goddamn right.

Frig, I need to get back into this. Too many games and such. If I forget where I was should I just use a guide or is it easy enough to poke around and find where to go? I got sidetracked doing not-main-story stuff for like an hour the first time I played (not a bad thing but it seems like getting back in will be hard)

progressing the main story is fairly easy for the most part. i only got stuck near the very end but i cant remember why.

Fun fact about Buzzo: fuck Buzzo. Just got to the part where
Buzzo forces Brad to take a bunch of Joy and kidnaps Buddy
. What a dick.

I played his first game, Lisa: the first. It was kinda like a Yume Nikki fan game.

It was pretty disturbing. Play it if you want a bit of context for this game.

This one is great too. Just need some time to get used to it. Also, always grind, if possible.

Okay, GAF. You sold me. I'll spend some time with it this week. :)
I always describe it as "an M-Rated Earthbound." Not a particularly good description, but some people get the picture. Quirky characters in a surreal world with turn-based combat. Plus, single use save points on Hard Mode, permadeath for party members and
loss of limbs
.

Without going into spoilers, I heard there's a Joyless end, can I still have it even if I took a single joy way back at the beginning of the game?

oh, you're sure? People in the game seem to think I'm not taking any.

what do I do on beach resort? I found the hole in the ceiling and a big trumpet but nothing happens with the monsters.

I thought you guys were making a post about this Lisa....

No but seriously, anything to prevent stunning? How is Bradley supposed to survive alone against all of this while stunned?

edit: stunned again! cool job here

edit: can I take joy during the final battles? it's pure fucking luck otherwise.

welp I guess not considering the ending oh well. Does having both your arms help?

It's really sad so little people know about this game considering how much there is to it. I missed like a dozen of party members.

congrats on beating it!

I really loved this game, it kinda came out of nowhere for me.

Unfortunately, I ended up having to use Joy a couple times throughout my playthrough. They really try to goad you into it. Also, I probably missed at least half of the party members. I know where a few I might've missed could be, but do certain choices make it impossible to recruit all of them or something? Because I feel like I missed a lot.

Oh, and what was behind that
one thing in the bathhouse type place? AKA the thing that could kill your party members for good.

Weird, was checking to see if there was any news on the expansion/sequel yesterday and I didn't think of checking twitter or his actual website not just the game's steam newsfeed lol

So stoked

Just started this last night. Loving the humor.

Also, I made the mistake of starting the game on Painful mode without checking what it entailed. :(
One save per crow?! Man!!!
Should I start over and play through on Normal mode, then come back and do Painful, or should I stick with it?

Is the art collection worth it?

not really, but the soundtrack is.

the game would have drove me insane on painful :s

Nobody answered me here, so I decided to try and stick with it.
And yeah, there are sessions where I'm playing for like 45 minutes to an hour, being extra cautious, because I don't want to die. Makes things really intense.

Edit:
Hahahah just got to the part where
you emerge from the cave to hear that desert horn song playing, only to move the screen to the left and see that the song was being played by a man on top of the cave. He stops as soon as you see him, thus halting the song. I love this game.

lol i think i remember this.

I just bought this for cheap during the steam sale. I have no idea when I'll play it but it looks very good.

Yeah this bump made me finally pull the trigger on grabbing the game too after having it on my wishlist for quite a while.

After 30min with the game I've got to say the SNES era feel to the gameplay mixed with with really dark sardonic tone really has me hooked from the start. Music is pretty effective too.

Since this thread is back I'll say that LISA is without a doubt my favorite RPG Maker game and among my favorite RPGs to date. I'll have to play it again soon since
I somehow missed Garbage Island and around 60% of the team members the first time around.

I pimped this game in the Steam OT for awhile but no one cared until now when it's on sale. At least people care. That said, is controller support fixed yet?

I hope in this next one we learn more about
why Buzzo hates you. I read somewhere that he was Yado's assistant?

Just bought it off the steam sale. I remember seeing it before but didn't think much of it until this thread reminded me of it. Watched a brief lets play of the first 10 minutes and a trailer and I was sold. lol.

Hopefully I enjoy it and the sequel is just as good or better.

I also grabbed Always Sometimes Monsters.

If you like weird dark humor a la Earthbound you'll like it a lot. Probably my GOTY of last year. Hopefully it gets a lot more attention from the Steam sale.

It was fixed pretty early on IIRC. I played it with a controller about a week after it came out.

supposedly, buzzo was a childhood friend of lisa's and he resents brad for not protecting her from marty. he's yados assistant for sure though, and that's why he's so crazy strong. he's using the good joy or something.

or at least, that's what i remember reading somewhere on the steam community forum.

I love Earthbound. That's part of why this piqued my interest. The graphic style and the music kinda of feels like that.

On sale for $4.99 right now.

Worth it? I see this game get talked about all the time on /v/ and pretty much nowhere else.
