umm considering the artists that get play this seems about right.

like anyone would have been satisfied with any list they came up with...

and we will all watch still, and then complain as usual.

who is the host this yr?

I am so glad that I don't know who the majority of these artists are and have never seen most of the videos. I've done good with cutting crap out of my life. :)

Wow, Modest Mouse gets three VMA nods. I hope they win at least one. Float On is such a great song. I've been listening to it since December or so, when they played it live on some Canadian TV show. I recorded the audio, made an MP3 of it, and jammed hard for the next couple of months.

The annoying part, and perhaps its why some would call me an elitist, is that I enjoyed the song so much more when it seemed like only I knew it existed. It wasn't the bed for every MTV News story, and on MTV, MTV2, VH1, Fuse all day long. But it is a good song. Great album too.

Darkness better grab all of theirs...and its been proven.

Cash's nominations were a fluke, they DO have no taste.

Britney Spears "Toxic"

britney is almost sorta kinda naked...in a body suit, lets give her a statue.

BAH, that song sucks, that video sucks, she needs to fade already into tabloid infamy. Stupid mtv.

Outkast is going to win for best video.

I still can't believe that I already saw a promo for the 2004 VMAs yesterday. 0_o

I hope one of those Michel Gondry videos wins for Best Direction. Preferably "The Hardest Button to Button" (just cause I think it's a much better song), but "Walkie Talkie Man" definitely had a cool video.

That is one shitty list, most of those videos were generic rehashes that I've seen before. OutKast's "Hey Ya", Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out", Modest Mouse "Float On" and The White Stripes "Hardest button," are the only things that stand out as cool and interesting.

I agree. Which is why I'm more mad than happy; they're stuck on a list with a bunch of shitty bands. I'd rather they just not even be nominated.

I cant understand why they have both rap and hiphop.

THERE'S A DIFFERENCE...

one has lyrics, deep bass and black people the other...lyrics, deep bass, black people, and the occasional hot white chick (black eyed peas)..

The only thing that I'd consider actual "dance" is Missy Elliot's video.

Usher's is borderling dance material, me thinks, while Toxic should definitely not be in there. Missy's is standard fare, while I honestly think "Hey Mama" does deserve to be part of that category. Elephunk has a bunch of danceable tracks that our dance team used for choreography. I hate the pop versions of their songs, though. "Let's get retarded" was butchered, as was "Hey Mama" -- they sound like tin-can reproductions of what was originally a perfectly well-produced song.
