BTW I still need to play Valkyrie Profile, I noticed your PFP. That's another game for next year. Also thanks for the tips. I love Xenogears but it does have faults. I felt the platforming could get frustratingly annoying. It would be interesting if they do a full HD-2D Remake of the game since would they involve the main person who wrote the story for that game? (Forgot his name)

A few tips:

1) The game's A ending (the true route & ending) is notoriously difficult to get blind. You need to view several, optional in-game events, which isn't hard, but you also need to manage your Seal Value, a number that does appear on the Valkyrie's status screen but is completely unexplained. You need to do or not do certain things in certain time ranges to get your Seal Value within the correct range to trigger the A route. The good news is that this stuff is easy to track since it's all either broad strokes chapter-by-chapter or it's 'do all this stuff at once'. Reference an ending guide before you start. This one from gamefaqs works although it's clearly based off a fan translation so some of the names are off.
2) Play on Hard difficulty. Only on Hard can you acquire the keys necessary for unlocking everything in the game's optional superdungeon. The game's dungeons actually vary a little depending on the difficulty level chosen (some are available only on higher or lower difficulties), but you get the fullest experience playing on Hard. Battle difficulty doesn't vary much; it's in the dungeon puzzles iirc (and starting levels, which don't really matter).
3) Not really a spoiler but just a 'playing optimally' thing: Always stiff Odin wrt treasures/artifacts retrieved at the end of dungeons. So long as you're sending him the einherjar he wants for Ragnarok, you don't need to send him any treasure to maintain a good approval rating.
4) When booting up the game for the first time, watch the opening movie first. Should be a ~10 minute cutscene that otherwise wouldn't play if you just jump to New Game. Might be accessible differently on different versions of the game(?). I know in the PS4 release it's accessible from the start menu as 'Prologue'.
