BTW I still need to play Valkyrie Profile, I noticed your PFP. That's another game for next year. Also thanks for the tips. I love Xenogears but it does have faults. I felt the platforming could get frustratingly annoying. It would be interesting if they do a full HD-2D Remake of the game since would they involve the main person who wrote the story for that game? (Forgot his name)

A few tips:

1) The game's A ending (the true route & ending) is notoriously difficult to get blind. You need to view several, optional in-game events, which isn't hard, but you also need to manage your Seal Value, a number that does appear on the Valkyrie's status screen but is completely unexplained. You need to do or not do certain things in certain time ranges to get your Seal Value within the correct range to trigger the A route. The good news is that this stuff is easy to track since it's all either broad strokes chapter-by-chapter or it's 'do all this stuff at once'. Reference an ending guide before you start. This one from gamefaqs works although it's clearly based off a fan translation so some of the names are off.
2) Play on Hard difficulty. Only on Hard can you acquire the keys necessary for unlocking everything in the game's optional superdungeon. The game's dungeons actually vary a little depending on the difficulty level chosen (some are available only on higher or lower difficulties), but you get the fullest experience playing on Hard. Battle difficulty doesn't vary much; it's in the dungeon puzzles iirc (and starting levels, which don't really matter).
3) Not really a spoiler but just a 'playing optimally' thing: Always stiff Odin wrt treasures/artifacts retrieved at the end of dungeons. So long as you're sending him the einherjar he wants for Ragnarok, you don't need to send him any treasure to maintain a good approval rating.
4) When booting up the game for the first time, watch the opening movie first. Should be a ~10 minute cutscene that otherwise wouldn't play if you just jump to New Game. Might be accessible differently on different versions of the game(?). I know in the PS4 release it's accessible from the start menu as 'Prologue'.

Worst phenomenons of modern world:
  1. Troll farms stupidizing, indoctrinating and manipulating simple people online
  2. Corporations trying to change everything into subscription-model
  3. Advertising billboards towed by boats along beaches
  4. Cars with touchscreens instead of tactile buttons and knobs
  5. Bland-ization of internet - suddenly every word and every topic is a taboo, can't use the word (s*x, m*rder)
  6. Telemarketers
  7. Restaurants serving food on other objects than plates, especially if it ruins the food (shoutout to soggy fries in jars and buckets)
  8. Crypto bros
  9. Multi-level marketing
  10. Nestle

Waifu tier list after finishing Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. Will update when -The other side of red garden- comes out in 2030 or whenever nasu takes a break from making Fate/GO money.

1) Kohaku - There is something up with this maid. Very, very suspicious behavior at times, especially in some of the bad ends. She's so outgoing and caring and talented though! And knows the perfect time and way to be mischievous in an endearing way. I can see her dropping as I learn more, but for much of the novel's run I celebrated her screentime.
2) Arcueid - Arc's arc isn't great but she's a great waifu. Absolutely adorable (thanks, Ikumi Kasegawa!), free-spirited, and simultaneously intelligent and bird-brained thanks to her uninhibited existence. Still loses points for being a vampire though and thus being unattainable. The planet-busting power/cosmic horror not so much a problem (just don't treat her badly!). Lots of great pouts and expressions in general.
3) Ciel - Kind, considerate, and serious with a playful side. I'd like to say the reliable senpai appeal is real considering how hard the game pushes it but I never got that vibe. Ciel is tough though, and cute, but she does loses points for what is still the worst type-moon (main) character design and her fundamentally irrational hatred for Arcueid. Good performance from Kaede Hondo.
4) Hisui - Might secretly be top tier. Her devotion shines through when her kuudere mask drops. Also might be the only normal member of the original five waifus.
5) Akiha - I'm not an M. She doesn't seem high maintenance for a tsundere, but she is too stuffy for my liking.
6) Satsuki - Nothing character. Why do fans like Satsuki? Maybe it's a Far side thing.
7) Noel - Irreparably broken. Knowingly cowardly, sadistic, and starved for love. Great character; awful waifu. I didn't recognize Ai Kayano btw until I looked the cast listing up; I am as usual a fan.
8) Arach - Definitely evil. More importantly, obnoxious.
0) Aoko - Counting her protag time in Witch would be cheating and she'd easily be best girl.

I didn't read that due to spoiler reasons. I want to play Witch of the Holy Night and TSUKIHIME this year. Are they connected to each other? And if they are, which one do you recommend playing first?

Tsukihime is an in-universe sequel to Witch on the Holy Night, although the connections are light. The same universal laws apply but the only character overlap is a character from the prologue of Tsukihime being protag of Witch on the Holy Night.

My rec is starting with Witch, foremost because it's better. Better characters, better production value (although both are very attractive - the best-looking VNs I've ever seen). It's a shorter, static visual novel, and it's better for it. Often while reading Tsukihime I reflected on the writing limitations of plausibly penning a story with so many different choices, not just for the believability of the POV character following through on those options but on the traditional VN box of forcing total time continuity in the story to minimize the butterfly effect of different options, which itself stretches the plausibility of character relationships developing so quickly (or that are not developed satisfactorily enough in an attempt to avoid this problem). Witch has small time skips, which lets the relationships settle and breathe.

My format issues aside, the cast in Witch is just better, although like the general quality of the novels themselves, I seem to have a minority opinion on this matter? I think the three leads are fantastic on their own and have the best chemistry of anything I've ever read from nasu. Nasu had a single story to tell and he follows through on it and although there was official discussion of a direct sequel and not every plot point is resolved, I think the main story has a great conclusion that didn't leave me particularly dissatisfied that that sequel probably won't be happening. I'd be more afraid of a sequel being a little threadbare really, considering how complete Witch is.

Tsukihime, in particular the remake I read, is very fleshed out but critically is a) Not complete as it adapts (and currently expands) only the first two routes from the original VN and b) Still retains many of the vestiges of its eroge origins. It's impossible to discuss my finer points of criticism without entering spoiler territory. I'll just say that some of the changes nasu made may have been the best he could manage and at least one that stands out in my mind was embarrassingly lazy and hamfisted, as I discovered as I felt compelled to look up the same scene in the original Tsukihime because the scene as rewritten made no sense to me. I still had fun and am looking forward to the second half - I was actually frustrated when finishing the second route that there wasn't more right now but I'm def. not going back to read the original Tsukihime - and simultaneously a little frustrated by certain elements of the story and over whether or not they'll be resolved to my satisfaction.

Found a kiseki character ranking generator that maps favorites in head-to-heads. I selected a range of Trails in the Sky FC through Trails through Daybreak 1. It ranked 157 characters via 922 head-to-heads. There are some picks I'd move around but I'm largely satisfied with the result.
