Little things that piss you off big time on forums.

Anime/Manga GAF annoys me, I rarely enter the threads here and instead bounce off to anime forums when i need to discuss stuff.

Memes. Just memes, really.

Haters gonna hate. Image macro spam. /thread. THIS. FIRST!

Are you a person or a virus? Have something to actually say, something from yourself and not just regurgitated from the depths of 4chan.

Irony.

Topic: Who is the (for example) most intelligent person of all time, in your opinion?

Reply:
well of course it's gotta be this guy right here, no contest:

O9QY9.jpg

because everyone you've heard of is world-famous.

Do you want people to use TinEye to "reverse image search" and figure out who it is, and then use Google to figure out what makes this person special?
Let's all jump through hoops to figure out what makes your image relevant to the topic. On second thought... Let's scroll down to the posts that actually gave descriptions.

Honestly not much bothers me. If it does I gloss over and skip it.

The one thing that pisses me off isn't even a bad thing really. It's probably an indicator the thread has some worth actually.

I can't stand when threads move so fast it becomes impossible to follow. When simply reading a couple posts, hitting respond and refreshing the page causes a 4 page thread jump forums become difficult.

Probably "hates memes --- runs a forum" or something similar. Which is daft, of course.
Which is why I gave the guy a mental deficiencies out.

Who can blame you for not understanding the word ironic if your IQ is 35.

I think there is no-one more suited for giving such outs :D

No, because you can always piss somebody off. That's easy. Being able to get somebody mad doesn't mean you've won anything. Except maybe the troll Olympics or something.

Psst!

I think it's hilarious when I get Evilore to drink a glass of tea I stuck my finger in.

Y'know... I should add that there are probably a lot more of the "little" things that genuinely piss me off like lolinsertcountryhere, and when I was younger I'd let them get to me to the point where I was pretty much flaming everyone. Now though, thanks to the wonderful little thing called LeechBlock, I just block off every board that's irritating me for a day [or longer in needed] and come back like not as irritable.

Not that I say I don't get any urges to prove people wrong by yelling profanities at them, but by getting away from it all those feelings usually end up going away and I feel better.

Juniors who reference some obscure in-joke from whatever board they migrated from. Like they post a picture of some stupid anime character and expect everyone to understand what it implies. Like if someone from GAF went to another board and posted a bish gif or a sunset pic.

Is it okay if full members do it? -_-

If you are discussing, you shouldn't be getting angry.

If you are arguing, getting the other angry is the whole point of it.

Although sometimes you are not mad, and the other says "you mad?" and then you do get mad because you were not even mad goddamnit!! Worst type of defeat.

A person that doesn't like a certain show, but yet keep entering the |OT| to criticize every aspect of it.

I'm looking at you, Erigu.

- Thread titles that are so nondescript that you have to click through to the OP in order to know what the topic is.

- Using spoiler tags for things that are not spoilers. It isn't clever and it does nothing but condition the reader to just highlight every spoiler he comes across.

I don't know. They have their uses.

Batman and Catwoman have sex at the end of the first issue of the new Catwoman comic. Leading you to wonder... isn't Batman a pedophile?

Arguing is about getting one's point across through persuasive argument. Just because some people use it as a venue for trolling doesn't mean we all do.

The anime thread is pretty terrible, it's just a hivemind of endless wanking over what happened in the latest episode of Naruto. Not worth the time.

When someone posts the black bar as .jpg and not really
is even worse.

The hive-mind effect coupled with a vocal minority. When these two groups are in sync, it's time to bail.

I've never understood what the hive-mind is supposed to mean? How is it any different from a majority agreeing on something?

And isn't the term only ever used by people upset that the majority doesn't agree with them?

People who use "LOL" (sometimes in lowercase) as some sort of pseudo-punctuation mark. "LOL" is bad enough as it is, but I can at least accept it when someone uses it response to a joke (although I don't like it). However, there are few things which are more aggravating than someone who simply throws it at the start or end of their sentences despite the phrase "laughing at loud" not making any sense in that context.

Other things that bug me would be excessive usage of memes in place of actually thinking over what to post (an intelligent usage of a meme can be a beautiful thing, but the majority of times it's simply an excuse not to think) and people who simply label anyone with an unpopular opinion as a troll. Dismissing people based on their avatars or screen names is another frequent occurrence that I dislike.

Posters who do nothing but spout talking points. Yes, yes, we get it, you broadly identify with this thing or other or have that leaning regarding a topic, but please have some perspective on your "team" and use that to form opinions of your own. Don't just mindlessly parrot the opinions of people who share your beliefs. This applies to a lot of posters who participate in political/religious/console war/Apple/Facebook/Google threads.

Also, not all memes are created equal. Where some might be digital age renditions of age-old sentiments like cest la vie, others are one-time jokes that get riffed on way too much.

When people mass quote anything a mod says, whether it was intelligent or interesting or thoughtless, because they think they're gonna earn brownie points.

I hate having limited use of certain features on forums. While I don't particularly mind being a Junior Member here, it's pretty annoying not being able to find my own most recent posts with the click of a link. (It simply tells me that I don't have access to that page, which makes it very difficult to pick up where I left off in a topic without subscribing to every single one that I post in.)

For those of you who don't know.

This squirrel is my conscience.

So if I don't agree with him, he'll have me viciously kill something.

From the times I've checked the thread I never got that feel.

Ha, this is actually a good one right here: the mental gymnastics that some people will perform to invalidate opinions they don't like. The whole "vocal minority" thing is a good example. A group of posters are putting down a game you like? Well, it got good reviews so they're just a vocal minority, they don't count! They're just nit-picking, elitist crybabies!

Not only is there absolutely no point in calling out a supposed "vocal minority", but it makes the poster look like an insecure manbabby.

...and the hive-mind thing is just as bad since it pretty much always involves broad and inaccurate generalizations.

Always wondered why that was. Perhaps they're afraid of what we'd do with the knowledge...

Everyone has that issue until EviLore stops messing around and gets Search back. :P

I quote him and post about the mythical time I "borrowed" his credit card, bought 3500 door handles, and a subscription to a very tasteful Russian rape fetish website.

So... does that make me insane?

I can understand not being able to view other people's posts, but it'd be really useful being able to see my own. Based on the quote below, however, it seems like it's not just Junior Members.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. The only other thing that's somewhat annoying is my inability to create new topics, but I usually find a pre-existing one that fits the bill (with a few exceptions).

What's the required post count to get rid of Junior Member status, anyway?
