Live countdown to major Persona team announcement from Atlus [Summary in OP]

Wait, some people are actually following a 72 hr streamed countdown? Guys, I can only see this ending in pain and mental instability. And property damage, if anything but P5 game is announced.

We're invested. In too deep. No backing out now. Our minds are made up and our hearts are committed.

Actually, I've become much more encouraged watching these little teases. Feels almost like a Persona retrospective. Persona 5 seems like more of a lock all the time.

im new to the persona verse with golden(well I played and beat 2 like 10 years ago but whatever and i started p3p like a week ago)

what the fuck is going on with the canon now?

P4A had them getting back for the first time since the end of persona 4(I think?) but golden had a very nice ending epilogue scene which I thought also kind of tied up these characters in a way I was satisfied with

And Marie exists in golden canon but not arena/p4 regular canon?

Am I thinking too much about the way this crap works

Marie didn't exist while they were working on Arena, which explains why she isn't there.

It doesn't really take much effort to leave it up in the background and do other stuff. Especially if you're like me and are probably at the computer anyhow for the evening.

Isn't there some weird split in 2 or something?

SMT IF -> P1 -> P2 IS -> Timelime altered and P2 EP takes IS's place -> P3 -> P4 -> P4A -> P4A2 -> P4G's epilogue.

Wait, this part is confirmed?

Knowing how things could go, it would not surprise me if parts of P4A2 end up happening both after P4A and after P4G.

Because fighting game plot!

lol

This part is confirmed in the Epilogue itself, as Yosuke mentions the events of P4A and P4A2 happening during Golden Week.

I should write up a full timeline for people, but I'm not sure about Persona 3 because they're not consistent regarding certain events and what year they take place (See: Aigis's activation.)

They're taking the Marvel approach with after credit teaser scenes. ;)
Well there was that cliffhanger at the end of P4A, so I figure they will resolve it before the epilogue takes place.

I'm saying it's not a sure thing that all of P4A2 plot will happen during Golden Week.

That and didn't Yu go back home after Golden Week ended at the end of P4A? Wouldn't a sequel have to be after?

I wish the PS1 versions of Persona 1 and 2 were available on the Japanese PSN because I'd love to play them some time.

Only 20 minutes to the next event, if anyone still cares to watch this glorified countdown. My stream is here.

You need to rewatch or replay P4A's story mode. He was still there when the story ended, as they were celebrating Golden Week and his return.

So what you're saying is that all of the P4 media and characters are red herrings?

Heh, that seems to be going a bit too far, I think.

I think it's pretty presumptuous of that poster to assume what we'll see at this point. >_>

We're actually in Persona 5 right now. Which is a P3 sidestory.

We've been trapped in the Dark Hour the whole time. Persona 4 never actually happened!

Fair enough. That said, has there been official confirmation about P4A2's timeline? I can see the arguments for it, but it's still all just assumptions right now that it all happens that week as opposed to anything definitive if noone knows for sure.

I think they're showing P3/4 media just because that's what they have to show. They're stirring the nostalgia.

I don't think it necessarily indicates anything about the reveal.

Main events apparently starts a few days after the first one. That's all we've been told so far. We probably won't get any real story details until the console version is announced. Which I don't expect as part of this countdown, much less any time soon.

I don't either, but I specified P4 media there because claiming that the announcement would be specifically related to either P3 or P4 by themselves would be very strange considering how both are equally represented.

If it's Persona 5, awesome, if it's Pesrona 4-2, i can deal with that, if it's a ios game or Persona arena related, i am flipping a fucking table.

Oh, okay.

Yeah, they're just showing P3/4 stuff to be retrospective, Im pretty sure.

They were already a few days into the week as P4A wrapped up, so a few days later would mean the break's almost done. Yu's gotta get back home at some point for school - would be interesting to see that actually.

No they weren't. It's even acknowledged in one story mode (Aigis's?) that it's only been a few hours. Yu also arrived earlier, as is mentioned in his own story mode.

No, because they're right in the middle of releasing P4A2.

P1/2 haven't been shown, but there's a multitude of reasons why that isn't surprising.

True, just being the devil's advocate.

Does anyone else beside me think that Persona 5 would be awesome as sort of a open world RPG. (with dungeons, of course)
No open world please. I kind of getting sick of this trend, sometime I just want things to be linear. Really don't want walk between places, I find skipping around the city is better and faster.I don't mind if we got bigger areas though.

I think if they simultaneously announced P3 for Vita and P5 for anything, I'd probably never need anything else ever again. My soul would have all the sustenance I'd ever need.

Even then, "a few days after" is still half of the week gone. A day of investigation and a day of travel to Port Island and that's pretty much all of it - they'd pretty much have to finish up right then and there. But then Dark Hour shenanigans will likely happen to explain any extra time needing to be spent.

I'd be very disappointed if they end up with that approach as I highly doubt the P4G epilogue was written to take into account more than one fighting game. Just seems too retconney this way.
